A/N: I posted this chapter as a bonus on my AO3 a few days ago but totally forgot to do it here. Sorry! There'll be another chapter on Friday as well.

After putting all my clothes away and arranging what little knickknacks that weren't in storage, including a little potted cactus that Phil gave me and Isa, I walk to her room.

"I like it!" I say as I enter. She looks over at me and smiles.

"It's actually not as bad as I thought it was gonna be." she says. "A little awkward, but Charlie is nice, so he doesn't really-"

She's cut off by the sound of a car honking outside. We both go to the window and look down into the driveway. Outside is a red truck, Tío Charlie, a man with a cowboy hat in a wheelchair, and a boy standing behind him. I squint down and realize just who they are.

"Oh my god, Isa come on!" I run out of her room and down the stairs.

"Billy!" I yell as I exit the house and run towards the group. I bend down and hug my father's other best friend, Billy Black.

"It's so good to see you again kiddo!" he laughs as he hugs me back. I stand back up and smile down at him before looking up and seeing Jacob. He beams at me, and I know that my smile matches his as I run around Billy and pull Jacob into a hug. He immediately wraps his arms around my shoulders.

"Bella, you remember Billy Black." I hear Tío Charlie tell her. She continues an awkward conversation with them as I hug Jacob.

"I'm so sorry for your loss Ángel." he whispers into my ear as he hugs me. I bury my face into his chest as I try not to cry.

"I'll be fine." I say as I look up at him. I give him one last squeeze before letting go.

Billy and Charlie start to playfight, Billy pretending to ram into my tío.

"Hi, I'm Jacob." says Jacob, walking up to Bella. I follow.

"Hey." she smiles.

"We used to make mud pies when we were little."

I giggle as I remember.

"You two tried to force me to eat them!" I say, suddenly recalling a memory of said mud pie incident.

"We were evil bakers!" Jacob laughs. "You were our only customer." he shrugs and shoots Bella a look like, Pshh, this guy, am I right?

"Right. No, I remember." she says, causing us all to chuckle. She looks over at Tío Charlie and Billy's continued playfight and turns back to Jacob.

"Are they always like this?" she says bemusedly.

"It's getting worse with old age." He replies. I'm beginning to feel like a third wheel, exactly how it was when we were kids. Jacob always had a crush on Bella, and I used to have a crush on him. He never knew, and I think Bella was equally oblivious to Jacob's crush. I grew out of my crush after a whole summer of it not being reciprocated, but I don't think Jacob is over Bella.

"So, what do you think?" Tío Charlie asks as he walks up, patting the truck I noticed earlier.

"Of what?" Bella asks. She's so observant.

"Your homecoming present." he replies.

"This?" she motions to the truck, a spark of excitement in her eyes.

"Just bought it off Billy here."

"I totally rebuilt the engine for you!" Jacob adds.

"Come on. Oh my gosh!" She exclaims, excited about the truck. "This is perfect, are you joking me?" she goes to the door and opens it, slamming it into Jacob. "Sorry!"

I giggle at her antics as Jacob gets into the passenger side.

"I told you she'd love it." Billy remarks. "I'm down with the kids." he laughs.

"Oh yeah dude, you're the bomb." Tío Charlie deadpans.

I laugh at that and walk over to them.

"Oh, and don't think we forgot about you!" Billy exclaims. He pulls a book from his lap under the blanket. Tío Charlie takes it from him and hands it to me. The tome is bound in dark leather and has a lock in the center.

"La historia de la familia Cristóbal" I read the title. "A family history book? I've never even seen this before, thank you so much!" I hug Tío Charlie. He smiles at me.

"We found it in you mother's things. There was a box labeled For Ángel, and this was in it along with the ring that Renee should have given you."

"I have it. It's on my desk." I tell him. He smiles and I walk inside, taking to book with me.

I look at the lock and see that instead of a key, I'm supposed to put a circle-shaped object in the center of the lock. I have no idea what to put in it, but I'll figure that out later.

---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---

The next morning is our first day at Forks high school. We don't even get a break. I know right?

I choose to keep it casual; a pair of black jeans with some fashionable rips on them, a light purple shirt, and an oversized black and white flannel on top. I wear my long hair loose, but I make sure to pack a few hair clips just in case. I go to my desk and take out the necklace that my father got my mother. I put it on, and look down at the rings. I gravitate to the Cristóbal family ring and deciding that it would match my outfit, I try it on. It fits my right ring finger like a charm. I let out a smile. I close my eyes.

"Hoy va a ser un buen día" I whisper to myself as I take a few deep breaths.

I put on my black Dr. Martens and go out to the kitchen. I find Tío Charlie putting butter on Eggo waffles and leaving out syrup for us.

"Good morning tío!" I smile as I enter the room.

"Hey, good morning kiddo!" he smiles. He pulls me into a hug. "How did you sleep?"

"Really good! It was so cozy. Don't get me wrong, Arizona was pretty, but I much prefer Fork's weather." I tell him.

"I'm glad. Bella prefers the heat." he hands me a plate of Eggos. "Do you drink coffee?" he asks.

I put my waffles down and put my hand over my heart in mock shock.

"I am Mexican, of course I drink coffee!" I say, mocking the way my apá would say it.

Tío Charlie laughs and hands me a cup.

"That's exactly what your father would say."

I smile as I take a sip.

"Did my Abuelo teach you how to make it?" I ask him, noticing that his coffee tastes the same as the way my father made his.

Charlie nods and we start eating. I carefully sip my coffee, happy to have a daily reminder of him in my life.

"I don't know what's taking Isa so long. We're both early risers." I remark on Bella's tardiness to breakfast. As if on cue, she walks in and sits down in the chair next to me.

"Good morning" she says.
