Much to my delight, Bella is waiting outside my classroom when the bell rings.

"Isa!" I exclaim and throw my arms around her.

She laughs and squeezes me.

"Miss me that much?"

"More than anything." I reply.

"Come on, let's go to lunch. I already have a table for us to sit at."

"Of course you already made friends." I smile at her. "You may think that you're awkward and weird, but you're actually really cool." I tell her. She shushes me as we walk to the cafeteria.

When in line, Bella spots some of her new friends.

"This is Jessica and Mike." She introduces me to them.

"Hi." I say, feeling shy all of a sudden.

"Angel, right?" Jessica asks. I nod.

"Thats such a coincidence, our other friend, who you'll meet in a sec, is named Angela." I smile at that as we grab out trays and walk to the table. I see Eric at the table talking to someone, and Mike pulls out a chair for Bella.

"My pleasure, Madame." He says as Bella smiles at him. I sit next to her, in between her and Eric.

"Hey, Mikey! You met my homegirl, Bella!" He exclaims.

"Oh, your homegirl? Yeah?" He says.

"My girl!" Says a boy who comes up behind her. He leans in and kisses her cheek, then yanks Mike's chair out from under him, causing him to fall.

"Tyler!" He yells, then runs after him.

I grab Bella's hand when I hear the bang of the chair hitting the floor. My breath hitches in my throat and I squeeze my eyes shut.

"It's okay," Bella says, squeezing my hand tightly. "I'm here, I'm okay, you're okay."

I nod and open my eyes.

"Oh my god." Jessica nervously chuckles. "It's like first grade all over again. You're the shiny new toy." She says to Bella.

A girl walks up to us and snaps a picture with a camera.

"Smile!" She says as the camera flashes in our faces. I grab Bella's hand again. This lunch is proving to be much more overwhelming than I thought it would be.

"Sorry." The girl says after seeing my and Bella's reaction. "I needed a candid for the feature."

"The feature's dead Angela." Eric says. He looks over at me and puts a reassuring hand on my shoulder, then gives Bella the same look. "Don't bring it up again."

He gets up and walks away.

"It's okay, we just-" Bella starts.

"I got your back, baby." Eric says, patting Bella on the arm.

Jessica scoffs and Angela looks down at her camera dejectedly.

"Guess we'll just run another editorial on teen drinking." She says.

"You know, you can always go for eating disorders." Bella offers. "Speedo padding on the swim team?" She giggles.

"Actually, that's a good one." Angela replies.

Jessica laughs.

"Kirk, right? That's exactly why I thought." The two laugh.

"We're talking Olympic size." Angela says.

"There's no way. He's so skinny. It doesn't make sence."

"Who are they?" Bella asks, looking over at a group of people walking in.

"Oh, that's Alice and Jasper." I say as I see them. "They're really nice. They helped me find my classes. I don't know who those other people are with them though."

"The Cullens." Angela replies.

"They're Dr. and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They moved down here from Alaska a few years ago."

"They kinda keep to themselves." Angela says.

"Yeah, cuz some of them are together. Like, together, together." My eyebrows raise at this, my interest piqued against my better judgment.

"The little dark haired girl is Alice. She's really weird. And thats Jasper, the blond one who looks like he's in pain. They're like, a thing. I'm not sure that's legal."

"Jess. They're not actually related." Angela interjects. I start to get uncomfortable. I've never been one for gossip, as my mother instilled in me that we should get facts straight from the source. That's probably the professor side of her though. My dad was a huge chismoso.

"Yeah, but they live together. It's weird. And okay, the blonde girl, that's Rosalie, and the big dark haired guy is Emmett. I don't think they're together like that, but it's still weird. Dr. Cullen's like this foster dad/matchmaker."

"Maybe he'll adopt me." Angela laughs. I close my eyes, feeling a headache coming.

"I heard that Emmett is into dudes though. And apparently, Rosalie is into girls." Angela says. I freeze, not sure where the conversation is going to go from here. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

"Ugh, it's just such a waste!" Jessica says. Angela rolls her eyes at her. "I mean look at him. To think all that man is gonna go to another guy."

My headache starts to flare up, and I can feel my breath start to quicken. I've always known I liked boys instead of girls, and everyone close in my life has been okay with that. But that doesn't mean that everyone else has. Bella grabs my hand under the table.

"Who's he?" Bella asks, trying to deflect from the conversation. I sigh in relief.

"That's Edward Cullen." Jessica replies. "He's totally gorgeous, obviously. But apperetly nobody here's good enough for him." She scoffs unconvincingly "Like I care you know?"

"But back to Rosalie and Emmet." Jessica says. Angela sighs.

"Why do you always talk about them?" Angela interrupts her, clearly annoyed. She glances over at me, seeing my former reaction. "It's none of our business Jess. Whatever they do in their love life has nothing to do with us."

I smile at her in thanks.

"I just think it's weird that they're like, in the locker rooms and stuff." Jessica shrugs. Bella squeezes my hand again. "Isn't it a bit inappropriate for them to be in there? Like we separate boy and girls, why not-"

"How much time do we have left of lunch?" I ask, cutting her off.

Angela checks her watch.

"Like, 45 minutes."

I look over to Bella and lower my voice.

"Isa, ¿te importa si me voy? Tengo que salir de aquí, todo esto es demasiado para mí". I say. When we were ittle, my parents started teaching Bella Spanish.

"Por supuesto. ¿Cuál es tu próxima clase?" she asks.

"Biología, contigo".

"Está bien. ¿A dónde vas?"

"La biblioteca. Necesito estar en un lugar tranquilo".

"Está bien, ¿Sabes cómo llegar allí?"

"Lo resolveré". I get up from my seat.

"It was nice meeting you." I tell Angela and Jessica. I give Bella a hug before making my way out.

"Is he okay?" I hear Angela ask.

"Yeah, he'll be okay. He just needs some space. He gets overwhelmed easily." I hear her worried response as I walk away. I start walking faster as I feel tears begin to form in my eyes. I quickly wipe them away before pushing the cafeteria door open and exiting.
