Emmett shakes me awake. The rest of the students are already off the bus. It's just me, him, and Rosalie. I get up and stretch. I walk in between Rosalie and Emmett as we walk off the bus. I see Bella waiting outside by her truck. I look over at her, and we make eye contact. Emmett leads me to his Jeep. I look away from Bella as Rosalie opens the door for me. I get in the backseat, and Rosalie takes the driver's seat. Emmett slides into the backseat with me.
"Wanna get a bite to eat?" he asks. I nod.
As Rosalie starts the car, I text tío Charlie informing him of my plan to eat out with the two Cullens.
He sends a thumbs-up emoji.
I look up to find Bella staring at me from her car. I text her that Emmett and Rosalie are taking me home.
The ride is quiet, but not uncomfortable.
After a few minutes, we pull up in the parking lot of the diner.
We walk in and get a table for three.
"So, what happened?" Rosalie asks after I order my burger and fries. They told me that they weren't hungry, so they didn't order anything,
I sigh.
"Mike Newton walked up Bella earlier. I walked away to give them privacy. I walked up to Edward, but he was too distracted staring at Bella. Then, later at the greenhouse, Edward asked Bella what was happening in Jacksonville, which I didn't understand, so I walked away, not wanting to be the third wheel again. I went back to Bella after she was done talking to Edward and asked her the same question he did.
It turns out Mike asked her to prom, and she said that she would be in Jacksonville, which is where her mom and step-dad are. I asked her what if I wanted to go to prom, thinking that if she tell people she wouldn't be there, and she'd be in Jacksonville with her mom, then people would be confused as to why I was at prom and not with her in Florida.
It was stupid, I know, but I could tell she was annoyed after talking to Edward, and I wanted to distract her from whatever they were talking about."
My food comes and I thank the waitress.
"Anyways, she got mad at me and snapped at me. She asked me why I would go with her to visit Renée, since she's her mom, and I have one of my own." I sigh.
"It's just..." I trail off, dipping a fry in ranch.
"I try so hard not to be jealous of her, but I can't help it." I look up at them.
"I've never told anyone. I don't think I've ever even admitted it to myself, but I'm so jealous of her. She has two loving parents, three if you count Phil, and mine are dead." I scoff at myself and eat the fry. "I bet I sound like a child."
"You're still mourning the loss of your parents, and of your old life." Rosalie says. "In the past four months, your entire life has changed. You lost your parents, moved twice, and within your first few weeks at your new school, a van almost hit you. You don't have to be perfect all the time, yet you constantly push everything down. We see you at school. If you hadn't told us, we would have no idea that anything was wrong."
She reaches across the table and squeezes my hand.
"You are so strong." Emmett says. "Talk to Bella. Explain everything to her. Open communication is necessary for a healthy relationship." I smile at them and continue to eat. We switch topics to more pleasant things. They're super interested in Los Angeles, and my parents, and Emmett asks me how to say words in Spanish.

"Hospital is the same in both languages Emmett. It's just pronounced hohs-pi-tahl. Make the same 'ah' noise you do when you pronounce my name."
---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---
"I'm just saying, she does an awful lot of staring for someone who supposedly deoesn't want me in the locker room with her."
---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---
"I don't have to run ahead of you in gym, its just fun to see your little face get all scrunched up and your little legs go twice their speed to catch up."
---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---
After dinner, they insist on paying. I try to go to pay myself, but Emmett grabs my arm and Rosalie went and paid. She comes back with two to-go boxes.
"These are from the waitress, she says that they're you and Bella's favorites?" she says, handing the boxes to me. I look behind her at the waitress who shoots me a smile. I smile back.
"Yeah, peanut butter pie for me, and a berry cobbler for Isa. They were our favorites as kids." I say as we walk out
The ride back home is quiet, with me looking out the window, enjoying the sunset in the distance.
"Thank you for taking me home." I say as we pull up. "And for dinner. I really needed to talk to someone that isnt Bella or Charlie."
"We'll always be here for you." Emmett says.
"Always." Rosalie nods.
I grab my stuff and walk up the driveway to the front door. I wave to them before I take my key you and open the door. I step inside, a calm feeling coming over me.
---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---☾☀☽---
I knock on Bella's door with my elbow, my hands carrying two plates. One holds her cobbler and a fork, and the other my pie and a fork.
After a few seconds, she opens the door.
"I hope you have room for dessert." I smile. She smiles back and opens the door wider, inviting me in.
As we sit on her bead, crosslegged, eating our desserts from the diner. I explain everything. My jealousy, my grief, how I've been pushing it all down for others' sake, how I'm tired of pretending that everything's okay, that I'm okay.
An hour later, after a lot of hugging, and crying, and apologizing, I'm curled up in her arms.
"I had a really weird dream last night." she says. We had been laying in comfortable silence for a while, so I look up at her with interest when she speaks up.
"What was it?"
"I dreamt that Edward Cullen was standing in my room, watching me sleep."
My eyes widen and I look up at her.
"I had the same dream, but with Emmett." this captures her attention. "I couldn't sleep after it."
For a moment, I debate telling her what I read in the Cristóbal family book, but I decide to read more into it before I tell anyone.
"Why would we have the same dream like that?"
"Did you see anything weird when Tyler's van came towards us?" I ask. We straighten up, both of us sitting up now.
"Edward. He caught me after you pushed me out of the way. But the weirdest thing is that I swear he was all the way across the parking lot. I've been asking him how he got to me so fast for the past few days, but he keeps blowing me off."
"Oh my god!" I exclaim. "When the van was coming towards us, everything started moving in slow motion for me, everything. The van, the people outside, even you falling. But I saw Edward and Emmett running towards us, in normal speed." I make eye contact with her. "Emmett stopped Tyler's car with his bare hand. When I fainted, it wasn't because I hit my head, its because of the rush of everything moving at normal speed again."
She looks down at me.
"Oh my god. What is up with them? Everyone says that the Cullens are weird, but that's just impossible." she says.
I shiver, a strange feeling creeping down my spine. I look behind me, out her window. It feels like something watching us, but I don't see anything. After a few seconds, the feeling goes away.
"Can I sleep with you tonight Isa?" I ask. She smiles, clearly seeing that I'm shaken up.
"Of course little brother." she pulls me down and I fall asleep in her arms.
