Mistake

ch 5; Feelings

Sonic was running, or he tried to run. No matter how much he tried to run in the speed of the light, he couldn't. His normal speed was gone!
The blue hedgehog was about to feel devastated, when his blue eyes saw Knuckles.
Without noticing where his feet took him, he'd ran toward the angel island where Knuckles is guarding the master emerald.
Sonic let's out a surprised breathe and runs smiling toward the echidna.
"Hello Knuckles! It wasn't yesterday~" Sonic greets and gets the cold shoulder from Knuckles who scoffing, looks away.
Sonic grunts surprised and drops the smile.
"Knuckles?-... Is something wrong?" He tilts the head and walks closer to the echidna.
Knuckles crosses the arms.
"Leave me alone Sonic-..." he says harshly and doesn't want him there.
The blue hedgehog pouts with the arms crossed.
"HOW COME YOU ARE ALWAYS RUDE TO ME?!-...WHILE YOU ARE AWFULLY FRIENDLY WITH SHADOW?!" He bursts out upset.
Knuckles flinches with the cheeks burning up.
"I-...I..." the flushed echidna stutters until he swallows hardly.
Knuckles glares unfriendly at him with gritted teeth.
"That's not your concern-... Leave me, and enjoy your days with-... Shadow" he says and swallows hardly when he said Shadow's name.
"I don't even wanna see you-... Less hearing your whining..." he adds and looks away.
Sonic huffed.
"I'm-...NOT... Whining!..." he whines.
When he doesn't gets any respond from Knuckles, he sighs sadly and untangled the arms.
"I though-... We are friends..." he drops the ears.
Knuckles doesn't answer him right away, and an awkward silence hangs heavily between them.
The echidna exhales sadly.
"We-... " he starts saying and made Sonic's ears to perk up.
"...-Are not..."
Sonic flinches with furrowed eyebrows.
"I-... I...Understand..." Sonic says and could feel tears pressing in the eyes.
The hedgehog turns around and starts running away. Gritting the teeth, so, tears wouldn't fall.
But despite his efforts, the tears fall anyways...

The moment Sonic came home, his eyes are red and puffed from crying.
A detail his husband wasn't late with noticing.
Shadow walks toward him and cups the hands on Sonic's cheeks.
"Baby, what's wrong? Why have you cried?" He asks softly.
Sonic sniffles and rubs the hand on the eyes.
"K-knuckles-..." he starts saying with unsteady voice. Sounding as he could cry any moment now.
Shadow's heart starts pounding in pain.
"What have he done?" The ebony hedgehog asks as gently he could. Despite he could already feel the anger toward Knuckles.
If the echidna has done anything to make Sonic cry, then he will give his piece of mind to that bastard.
Sonic's ears drops and he looks sadly down.
"He-..." he swallows hardly.
" ...-Said... I'm not...H-his...Friend..." Sonic explains trembling while new tears fall from the eyes. Sonic let's out a short sobbing sound and closes the eyes with the hands, covering them.
Shadow grits the teeth angrily with a low growl. Wrapping the arms around Sonic and embraces him.
He couldn't care more or less, Knuckles and he are friends. No one are allowed to make Sonic cry! Not without feeling the wrath from him; Shadow the hedgehog...

An hour later, when Sonic is feeling a little better, Shadow stomps over to the angle island.
The second Knuckles sees Shadow, he bright happily up with a smile.
"Shadz! I'm-..." the echidna starts saying and starts walking toward him.
Shadow flinches angrily and speeds up where he surprises Knuckles, by grabbing his throat and slam him down on the ground.
The ground underneath Knuckles, tears apart from the strength Shadow used.
the echidna exhales a choked grunt the moment his body thuds hardly at the ground.
Shadow leans over him and stares with anger at him.
"DON'T YOU EVER DARE, HURT SONIC AGAIN!!!" he shouts upset and leans closer with the face toward Knuckles', to stare intimidating into the violet eyes.
But instead of fear as Shadow tried get from Knuckles, the echidna blushes hardly and squirms shyly under him.
"Not so...Close..." he coughes since Shadow's hand was still wrapped around his throat.
Shadow raises an eyebrow and leans away, while letting go of his friend's throat.
Knuckles sits coughing up.
Shadow looks confused at him. He knew Knuckles isn't the one who makes a lot friends. The echidna likes to keep for himself.
But, he never thought he would be so cold toward Sonic...
Shadow inhales deeply and stands up.
" Why are you behaving as a dick to Sonic?-... He hasn't made any wrong toward you..." he asks curiously.
Knuckles stiffened.
"... You don't understand..." the flushed echidna mumbles.
shadow shrugs.
"And that's why I'm asking-... Please... You and I are friends... Why can't you spell it out? What can Sonic possible has done you, so he would deserve to get the cold shoulder from you?"
