Mistake

ch 7; lacking in minerals

Shadow is very nervous right now. How is he supposed to tell Sonic?
The dark furred hedgehog inhales deeply and opens the front door where he walks in.
"Sonic?" He asks while looking around.
The ears perked up when he could hear noises from the restroom on first floor.
Shadow walks toward the restroom, where it sounds as someone is pulling out drawers, and opening doors, while searching for something.
Shadow opens the half-closed door and gasp shocked when he sees the mess Sonic has done. 
It was like Sonic had held the drawers upside down, where everything fell out. New sealed toothbrushes, toothpaste, bottles with shampoo and conditioner etc, were spread around on the floor.
Even dirty socks, towels and gloves were on the floor. A total mess.
Shadow grits the teeth and tries stay calm.
"Sonic, what are you doing?!" He asks with a hint of annoyance, in the a little trembling voice.
Sonic jolts with the head hidden behind the door to the cabinet, above the sink.
The blue hedgehog chuckles nervously and leans away from the cabinet while closing it.
"I ehm-... Need soap... But I couldn't find any..." he explains, while the eyes move slowly toward the floor, where he notices the mess.
He jolts.
"And I will clean up soon" he adds apologising and look at Shadow who crosses the arms.
Shadow raises an eyebrow.
"Soap?" He asks.
Sonic nods.
"Yeah-... I need to clean the hands... " Sonic shrugs and starts blushing 'Cause he was lying.
Shadow looks confused toward the sink, where a bottle with yellow, fluid soap stands next the tap to its right side.
"... And you did missed, there is a bottle with soap on the sink?" Shadow asks.
The ebony hedgehog had replaced the bars of soap with fluid soap. Since he was hoping Sonic wouldn't want to eat them as well... And it seems he made the right choice.
Sonic stiffened and glances against the bottle on the sink.
He chuckles nervously.
"I-... I thought that was... Ehm... Cream for the hands... I've totally missed that was soap..." he lies.
Shadow scoffs.
Sonic shrugs, and looks asking at Shadow.
"What happened with our other soaps? There weren't anything wrong with them..."

The red and black furred hedgehog narrows the eyes a slightly thoughtfully. Should he bluntly tell the truth? Or tell a white lie?
He scoffs.
"Maybe there is... Why do you care so much? Don't tell me you are planning to eat them again" Shadow mutters, with the eyes on Sonic who obviously stiffened from the question.
Sonic swallows.
"N-no?" He forces himself to answer, despite it sounds more as a question than an answer.
Shadow gives him a look before he sighs.
"I have something I must tell you... And I hope you won't freak out..." Shadow says and starts getting kinda nervous. But he knows he must tell Sonic now. So, he can't stall it.
Sonic tilts the head.
"Tell me what?"  The bewildered hedgehog asks, since it isn't often he sees Shadow, nervous about something...
Shadow inhales.
"I have knocked you up..."
There is a silence between them.
Then Sonic raises a brow.
"Kn-... You have, what?" Sonic blinks confused.
Shadow clears the throat few times.
"You-... You are pregnant... And maybe you should ask Dr.Eggman to run a few tests, to be sure everything are alright?" He suggests.
Another silence.
Sonic starts eyeing Shadow, where he tries finding any clue, his husband was joking.
And despite Shadow looked deadly serious, Sonic let's out a short laugh.
Which he swallows down, when he notices Shadow wasn't even smiling.
"Oh?-... You were serious?"
Shadow nods.
The bewildered blue hedgehog glances down on the stomach and then up at Shadow.
"How?-... It shouldn't be possible since I'm male... You must have made a mistake"
Shadow shakes the head.
"Sorry, but I haven't made a mistake... But let's talk later... Let's talk with Eggman first"

A few tests later, Dr.Eggman could confirm Sonic is pregnant. With twins.
While the blood tests also confirmed, Sonic is lacking in minerals such as zinc and iron. Which was most likely why, Sonic wanted to eat soap, and was very tired lately.
The overweighted man starts recommending, Sonic should takes nutritional supplements. Like pills he could get from the store.

Sonic walks silently toward the store, from Dr.Eggman's base. The head filled with a lot of thoughts.
How could he even get pregnant? He has always believed, no males could get pregnant... Or he was maybe not male, after all?
But if he isn't... What is he? He doesn't look the slightly alike Amy or Rouge.

Shadow looks asking at Sonic. He was also very surprised over the situation. Despite Eggman had said, Sonic would be able to get pregnant. He still couldn't completely, believe that...
And now what?-... Are they supposed to give up one child and keep the other?
Shadow sighs, which startled his partner. His pregnant partner...
Sonic looks confused at him.
The ebony hedgehog smiles at him.
"Don't worry Sonic-... Everything will turn out good... You will have me... And I promise, I will help you through everything"
Few seconds later, Sonic's lips curl upward.
"Thank you Shadow..." he smiles. Purely happy, Shadow will support him.
Shadow gives him a crooked smile back. Feeling guilty for everything... Guilty for the reason why Sonic could even get pregnant in first place... And guilty since, he will force Sonic to separate from one of the children...
Only thinking about how Sonic must choose which child to give up, makes him to shiver.
He precious partner will get devastated...

Shadow is trying to find the shelves with the pills, Eggman was talking about. While Sonic is walking around in the shop, grabbing everything he is craving right now.
The ebony hedgehog raises an eyebrow, when he reads the label to a bottle with pills, who according the text, will help you lose weight.
The next bottle he grabbed, had a text where it promised you, to gain muscles faster.
The dark furred hedgehog snorts.
"Piece of bullshits-..." he mutters and puts the bottles back and tries find the right ones.
When he finally found the zinc and iron, Sonic shows up, with the arms filled with snacks, etc.
Shadow raises a brow while dropping the cans in the basket.
"What-... What is all that?"
Sonic let's out a nervous laugh.
"Just a few things I want to buy..." he explains and trembles a slightly, while swaying from side to side, to make sure he wouldn't drop anything.
Shadow starts eyeing the mountain of unnecessary things.
It seems it's at least three bags with different kind of chips. Then it seems there is a bag with popcorn.
A six-pack soda, a bottle with orange juice, and chocolates.
Shadow could even see a box with frozen pizza, peeking up from the mountain.

The ebony hedgehog was about to open the mouth and tell Sonic to put back most of the things. But in last second he stops himself and exhales.
He could sees the excitement in Sonic's blue eyes... Maybe he should let him enjoy this?
Perhaps this is something normal for pregnant wom-... Persons?!
Shadow nods.
"Alright-... But, put them down in the basket, before you will end up with dropping something"
Sonic brights happily up and smiles widely.
"Thank you!" He says and tries putting the things down in the basket without dropping something.

They were about to walk to the checkout, when Shadow's phone beeps.
The surprised hedgehog stops walking and puts the basket down.
Then he takes the phone up and opened a text from Knuckles.
("Hi Shadz, what about you are dropping by later? You can bring the beers, while I'm getting us food ")
Sonic blinks asking toward Shadow.
"Who is texting you?"
Shadow starts typing an answer, he soon sends.
He shrugs and gives Sonic a short look.
"Knux-... I'm soon back... I need beers..." he explains and puts the phone away.
While Shadow starts walking away in the store, Sonic's heart starts pounding faster in pain.
He hadn't brushed the situation with Knuvkles away, yet...
The memory how coldly Knuckles was toward him, still stings.

The blue hedgehog knew what buying beers means... It means, Shadow is about to spend an evening with Knuckles. Maybe even a night...
Sonic pouts. He doesn't wanna to share Shadow with someone right now.
Why can't his husband stay with him, today?... They are about to get children together!
Isn't that more important than spending hours with a friend?!
Staying with your pregnant partner and taking care of them?

Soon, Shadow gets back with two, six-pack beers. Obviously the strongest he could find...
The black and red furred hedgehog was smiling while walking.
But the moment he sees Sonic's frown, he jolts and drops the smile.
"Babe?-... Is something wrong?"
Sonic glares at him and scoffs while crossing the arms.
"It isn't-... Or you maybe do know, you are doing something wrongly I'm not alright with?" Sonic asks upset.
Shadow raises an eyebrow.
"I'm not doing anything wrong?-... You know, I'm spending time with my friends sometimes... So, it can't be that... Maybe it's only your pregnancy hormones who haunts you?" He suggests and earns a death glare from Sonic.
The blue hedgehog untangled the arms and clenched the hands, while staring annoyed at him.
"I'M NOT-... YOu-... CAn't use my pregnancy against me..." Sonic shouts yells and tries calming down, when he noticed what he did. The cheeks burns from his overwhelming anger.
Shadow looks confused at him. It was obviously the hormones who talked there.
The ebony hedgehog let's out a short snickering.
"Okay ... Okay... I'm sorry... Let's pay"
