The Evergreen Legend

Chapter Nine

Three of the elders and the group sat at a large table with Lei Chao, she stayed quiet and kept her head down, and Fox spoke up as loud as he could.

"Where is my sister Lei!?" He asked as his hair burst into flames, he controlled them pretty easily so there was nothing to worry about.

"I—" Hanjin slammed his fist on the table and shocked everyone, he stood up and handed Lei Chao a glass of water, in this glass, he poured a clear liquid.

"Drink up!!" She drank the water when her face went to blue, "Just as I thought if you don't tell me where my great— where the mistress is you will die.

Riah was missing for ten days so far and she lay asleep on the floor with scars up and down her body and her hands tied in front of her. She was soon awoken to water with aien bits in it being thrown on her, "Wake up girl, the lady and mister want you to show them your power again." A daywalker member picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, when they reached the throne room he threw her down as she yelled.

"Fucking asshole" she growled as she started feeling her powers grow inside her, she looked up and saw the people in the room giggling, and she spoke, "What now? Want to beat me again?" A hard slap was given to her by her grandmother, she grabbed a whip and started the test for the twelfth time in just a few days.

"For someone who is supposed to be strong, you're pretty weak!!!" She heard Cassius's mother, Riah stayed still while she got beaten with the whip but she looked over to a window, her eyes soon widened at the sight of a pink willow tree with few pink leaves, and she soon started chanting in Sindarin.

"Πατέρα προστάτευσέ με, Μάνα δώσε μου τη δύναμή σου. Καλώ τους μεγαλύτερους μου να μου δώσουν το οικογενειακό δώρο. (Father protect me, Mother give me your power. I call upon my elders to grant me the family gift.)" Her body started glowing a dark bright red, the enchanted ropes that held her hands together broke, and Riah was lifted into the air. The land before them became cold and dark, and as it started to rain, Max appeared and grew a pair of light blue wings protecting Riah as the light got brighter, her grandmother placed a hand out in front of her as vine grew from the palace wrapping the two in their leaves pulling them down and trapping them into a jail of vines. the group noticed the darkness and Fox knew right away.

"It's her!!! That's my sister!!!" Fox ran out as Hanjin's wings appeared and he flew away. The group started their way to where she was with the army, Cassius turned around and spoke.

"Your soon-to-be queen is through that gate, we must break it down!" Just then Hanjin flew in and interrupted him.

"Those people took the throne from Prince Aldon's family causing them to go into hiding they are here!!" Theodore and Cellica landed in front of the crowd showing the mark of the evergreen family.

"We beg of you please, help us get our throne back!" As they spoke, one by one, each creature bowed its head and saluted its rightful rulers. Fox smiled and stepped up.

"I thank you and hope to be the leader of the future council!" They all smiled and marched on, Fox sent Star to go check on Azariah now that they knew where she was. When she got there Star saw Riah and Max on the ground next to each other. She snuck over and tried to bite through the vines when her grandmother hit Star in her side causing her to disappear and reappear next to Fox.

"Star!?" He felt the pain go through his heart as Star started transforming. She soon turned into a two-tailed green firefox, Fox smiled and hugged her, she licked him and the pain was gone.

"I see your Firefox has turned green, that means it saved your sister for you." They all looked at the red light coming from Max and knew they had little time left.

"What do we do??? She's unlocked her powers, all of them no doubt and I'm sure her friends are on their way with help." Just as Riah's grandfather finished talking, the palace shook with force, "Speak and it shall appear!! There are thousands outside of our gate, we only have a few hundred! We should give her up now and accept our own mistakes and fate." Riah awoke and sat up agreeing.

'You all know he's right, you should give up." She let out a laugh seeing Cassius and her brother. Her grandmother moved her hand outwards removing the vines.

"We'll see who's laughing soon!!" Maranda said in a worried yet unbreakable tone of voice as she ordered a day walker to grab Riah placing an aien crystal to her neck.

"Come child let us show the realm what happens when you disobey me!!" Being weakened by the crystal her grandmother was easily able to grab her by her hair dragging her over to the window and looking at the whole realm from it, there stood thousands of creatures from Arcaina.

"Take Note!! This is what happens when you disobey your queen!!!" Maranda was about to throw her granddaughter off the ledge when she felt a painful sensation in her stomach, Jacob, her husband had stabbed her. Riah fell and gripped the ledge, two-day walker members grabbed him, taking him away while Cassius's mother went over to grab Riah. She noticed that Azariah was already gone.
