Chapter Two

The calming wind blew across the dusty plains of the austrailian desert and against the two jeagers heading for a valley no one dare venture to but this was a mission that could end in life or death for the young boy within atlas's conpod

Reece: ace to atlas how's the kid doing?
Taylor: fine i think
Hayley: the quicker we get to never never the better
Reece: i wouldn't be so sure there princess
Hayley: why does everyone call me that
Taylor: its litterally been just mei calling it you
Reece: where do you think i picked it up from remember the drift is a two way stream mei saw everything i knew same as i did her
Mei: and neither of out pasts are great
Reece: excuse me mine is actually alright besides loosing my dad to shane and i guess loosing you to shane also for a while
Taylor: wait shane took your dad?
Reece: along the lines of killed taylor what better way to try and motivate someone than kill their last known loved one
Taylor: im sorry about you dad reece he was a great man and better pilot
Reece: yeah but like everything i touch taylor it all goes to shit eventually makes me wonder how the fuck im still alive
Mei: i do not want to think about that
Reece: right sorry i some how forgot the real you is back
Mei: you mean girlfriend me and not i'll kill you me
Reece: haha thats a way to put it but yes i suppose your right

Reece: alright your most certainly back to the old you i guess mrs always right never left
Mei lifted atlas's left arm and hit the back of ace's conpod sending the jeager stumbling forward
Reece: ace was that kaiju?
Ace: negative that was mei using atlas destroyers extended reach to hit us
Reece: oh so no danger?
Ace: affirmative
Reece: damn it mei gave me at heart attack over here
Mei: deserves you right
Taylor: i can remember you always used to say that you had a hand full of girlfriend back in pilot trainning
Reece: TAYLOR!!! WHY!!!!!!
Mei: excuse me i am 'NOT' a hand full
Reece: of course not babe of course not merely joking
Hayley: you sound scared reece?
Reece: mei might be back to her old self but her weapons skills are still there
Mei: and do not forget it
Reece: oh i won't because i also have that skill set now so many thanks love
Taylor: huh?
Reece: the drift is alot more useful than you think taylor you can learn entire move sets from just a single drift
Hayley: just like how you though you knew the pilots of november ajax taylor
Loa: hayley is correct your short time ghost piloting with herc hansen did indeed reveal some benafit in jeager to kaiju fighting but it also blended herc hansen memories with your own
Reece: say loa how come that didnt happen with myself and mei?
Loa: my hypothesis that due to your already drifting with the physical form of ranger sean parker you has nothing to learn from him as a result
Mei: but surely i would?
Taylor: we have no idea until we fight a kaiju i suppose
Reece: yeah but your kaiju fighting will be limited now since ace is more capabable and more advanced for combat
Taylor: your not seriously benching us?
Reece: oh i have no means in stopping you from fighting but atlas is in a weaker state than she once was all you have is the vanadium sabar chain from choas nemasis
Taylor: i suppose thats true
Hayley: also reece has fought countless kaiju before taylor he has more of an idea on how to take them down quickly
Reece: hayley is right i have took down a couple kaiju in my four years as a pilot
Taylor: four years?
Reece: my uncle was deemed unfit to pilot after he broke his arm and since my dad was his copilot they deemed me good enough to jockey and good timing too since the black started a day after
Taylor: so how many kaiju have you fought then?
Reece: erm i have no idea ace do you?
Ace: affirmative you and ranger sean parker have four kaiju kills and three assists while you alone have three kaiju kills
Reece: so whats that like a total of seven kaiju kills all together?
Ace: affirmative
Reece: im just too damn good
Mei: alright show off calm down
Reece: right sorry ace estimated time of arrival to never never valley
Ace: estimated time of arrival to never never valley is twenty two minutes and fourty seconds
Reece: ok and the suns setting so we will have to cover of darkness to help us
Mei: since when did you start thinking ahead?
Reece: when i got my girlfriend and my friends to worry about
Mei: awww look at chu
Taylor: im not sure what to think of this new mei
Reece: seems normal to me
Taylor: yeah were more acustomed to the i'll kill you if you even look my direction mei
Reece: ahh yeah i can see your problem
The two jeager continued their walk until they reached the edge of never never valley
Reece: welcome to hell on earth atlas
Taylor: ive never seen so many kaiju in one place before
Loa: i scan at least a dozen
Boy shuddered cause hayley to run over to him before speaking
Hayley: how are we getting through them
Taylor: through them we wouldn't last five minutes
Loa: two minutes
Taylor: fine two minutes
Ace: one, if induring simltianous attacks
Loa: which is more likely
Taylor: doesn't matter it's not even worth discussing,we'll get boy to sydney and hope for the best
Hayley: sydney? He'll be dead by sydney!
Reece: what do you want, princess?
Mei: yeah, trust me, both of better than the other option
Hayley: there's another option?
Mei: no, well i guess. Sisters of the kaiju, but—
Taylor: Sisters? You mean like a... a religious order or something?
Reece: ha try coven they worship kaiju, steal women, kill men so we do not want them interested in us because i'll be damned if i loose my girlfriend to some damn kaiju ass kissers
Mei: i agree im not loosing my boyfriend who ive just got back to the Sisters
Hayley: ok, forget them, back to this guy, you said he could help
Reece: i actually said he could help but i also said he could maybe help and i also said he was crazy
Hayley: he lives with all these kaiju, maybr they're different, maybe he's found a way to tame them
Reece: ohhh i'd like a pet kaiju mei can we have a pet kaiju
Mei: no!
Reece: awwww
Taylor: still no maybes about it, hayley monster can't be tamed, any of them
Mei: you do know reece right?
Reece: yeah...... wait a minute...... HEY!!!!
Mei smiled a little before sighing
Mei: forgive me for just laying this out there,but you ever think that tick bite is, i don't know, natuarla selection? The weak die
Hayley: but the strong protect the weak
Reece: and thats excatly what me and taylor are doing here princess we go down there we have no way of telling if we survive
Hayley: yes so now we are gonna make a run for that mesa, got it? Somebody get in this damn rig with me!
Taylor: sorry, hayley
Mei: yeah, no
Reece: they're right hayley we not fighting a army of kaiju even ace can't compete with all of them one maybe two at a push but not an entire army
Hayley: you three are worse than cowards, you're heartless
Mei: but not suicidal, at least not yet
Suddenly the alarms started blaring in both jeagers
Loa/ace: proximity alert
Taylor: what? Where?
Loa: brace for impact
Reece: HOLD ON IN THERE!!!
Reece piloted ace in behind atlas just in time to take the full impact of a acidquill attack but the stength behind the attack was enough to send ace stumbling backwards into atlas taking them both over the cliff edge luckly mei and taylor managed to reconnect to the drift while they were falling but atlas still landed on her back while landed ace in a super hero landing( i have no other idea on how to explain it)
Reece: everyone alright in there?
Mei: yeah we good so aside from the neural collison what just hit is?
Reece: an acidquill, cat three oh shit
Reece placed ace hand on atlas chest and pushed her backward while he quickly rolled to the right narrowly missing the incoming acidquill landing which was focused on atlas
Reece: ace why is it focusing on atlas when we are closer
Ace: it might be due to atlas bright colour scheme since we are in the dark colour palet we are hard to see in this conditions
Reece: then lets use that atlas try and hold it still i have a plan
Mei: OK!!
Reece carefully piloted ace within the darkest area's around the acidquill while atlas ran into to attack and dodging incoming attacks from the kaiju until it launch both of it quills at the atlass who caught them
Mei: WE HAVE IT!!
Reece piloted ace out of the darkness and toward the back of the kaiju
Reece: SWORD!!!
Ace: activating sword
Reece swung his right arm down and the sword slid out of ace's forearm ready to be used so reece used ace's back boosters to gain a little height before bringing down the right arm onto the kaiju's head and the sword broke though the kaiju's skull instantly killing it as it sliced through the kaiju's brain then he grabbed the carcus and dragged it off of atlas
Reece: ace?
Ace: kaiju eliminated not signs of life
Reece: good retract sword
The sword retracted back into the forearm of ace to be used another day
Reece: everyone alright?
Taylor: yeah we're good thank you
Mei: nice job babe
Reece: babe now that has been a while since of heard that but lets get out of here!
But as he finished that sentenfe the groudn shook and he turned around to see a lot of kaiju mass stomping towards them
Loa: for the record, i did say simultanous attacks was more likely
Reece: well now is as good as any if we don't survibe this just know i love you mei
Mei: REALLY!!! NOW!!!!!
Reece: just in case
Mei: FINE!! I love you too
Reece stepped forward just in front of atlas but stopped when all the kaiju turned away and left them alone as they headed for some smaller kaiju
Reece: did they just leave us alone damn i didnt know taylor was that ugly
Taylor: stop complaining they've left us alone that's better than what we could ever ask for
Hayley: those smaller kaiju, the others are heading for them
Taylor: that makes no sense kaiju are designed to attacks jeagers
Reece: maybe they saw ace and were like hell nah he scary
Ace: your suggestion is incorrect but im also detecting movement atop the rock formation
Mei: is he waving?
Reece: so im not going insane good good
Hayley: who cares? He's cleared a path for us! Run!
Reece: i agree with princess here lets roll
So they began running towards the waving person as the kaiju were busy eating the smaller kaiju and once they reached the rock formation they spun the bith jeagers around so the backs were towards the rock formation
Reece: ace go into low power mode just in case we need to bolt or protect atlas quickly i want us ready to go
Ace: affirmative
Reece: and erm can you remove my pilot suit aswell
Ace: affirmative
Reece stood still as the suit was removed to reveal his casual cloths that consisted of a black t-shirt with the ace of spades jeager logo on it combined with a black leather jacket, blue jeans and brown boots
Reece: feels nice to be out of that suit
Ace: the others are waiting
Reece: oh right be back as quick as we can
Ace: affirmative
Reece climbed out of the conpod and onto the rock formation just as mei, taylor and hayley were doing the same
Man: im more than a bit pissy you put down a acidquill out there though you could claim it was self-defense, i dont care! Why im hell's sphincter would you bring jeagers into a valley full of kaiju? stirring up their negative energy and all!
Reece walked up to the man and grabbed the front of his jacket
Reece: ok firstly im even more pissy that the acidquill endangered my girlfriends life so i think it got what it deserved and secondly we thought we'd make some new friends, WE ARE NOT IN HERE ON PURPOSE IDIOT!!
Mei walked over and gently pulled reece's hands off the man before taking his right one in her own
Mei: babe it's fine we're all fine.... im fine so please calm down
Reece took a depo breath but his glare didnt faulter
Man: haha erm scary one you have there
Mei: your lucky im here to keep him somewhat level headed you see he is very protective of me so that acidquill got what it deserved
Hayley: as for why were here, we need your help
The man looked between the four before looking at the heavy breath boy in taylor arms then put his torch out
Man: this way, don't dwindle
As the group approached what looked to be a hut of some kind a kaiju burst out infront of them cause mei to instantly bring out her gun and reece to step in front of her as if it was almost on instinct
Man: have we met before?
Mei: bogan
Man: hmm ahhh shane's daughter hired muscle? Good shot, bad temper?
A low growl than sounded almost inhuman came from reece causing the man to chuckle nervously
Man: hehe BB gun may work on riders but for lucy, uh, that'd just add a little spice,
The man put his hand on mei gun lowering it and causing her gasp light
Man: when she swallows you whole
Reece: remember when lady said i was protective of her hmm?
And again an almost inhuman growl iminated from reece causing the man to slow back up and turn to the kaiju
Man: now, now, lucy, nothing to be anxious about here, go on, tend to your pups
The kaiju roared causing dust to fly everywhere
Man: hey hey now this is my space, you go to yours! You heard me. Get!
The kaiju stomped off as the man turned back around
Man: ahh like a daughter to me, that one, found her orphaned in her clutch, by just the kind of jeager devil you rode in here on, oh, did i mention she was hand-fed? Literally, babies like to be fed palms up, one mistake i won't make twice, yeah, we were both learning back then.
Mei: uh, did you call her lucy?
Man: yep thats her name
Taylor: and your's is?
Man: oh different thing. Kaiju whisperer, never never nut, whoop whoop wallaby, crazy son of a bitch, oh, and, uh, leftey
Reece: ok thats it
Reece grabbed mei's pistol out of her hands,walked forward with it raised in his right hand
Reece: im runnin very thin on patience so i suggest you tell us if you can help the kid or not because i am very very close to pull this trigger so what will it be? Hmm?
Man: b...bring him in here
Reece lowered the gun as he and the others followed behind the man
Man: there, lay him right there.
Taylor complied and lay boy down on the bed while reece looked around until the man came back with some glasses
Man: oh, three puter punctures, central injection fang, that's a kaiju tick all right, bitch to remove how'd you get it off!
Mei: he gave it a few punctures of his own
Reece spun mei's gun around his finger before grabbing it
Reece: yeah came off nice and easy
Man: nothin' left of it, then
Hayley: who cares? Can you help him?
Man: problem is, those doodlebugs don't bite people-kind.
Hayley: boy is not like most people
Reece: huh?
Man: ive been studying ticks them being the biggest natural threat to kaiju and all...... but i can't help this child if i don't know what he really is.
Taylor: we sort of found him, in an abandomed PPDC lab, he looked like a regular kid
Reece: but?
Mei felt her eyes widen when she realised reece had no idea what or who boy actually was and when she looked at him he looked tense as if he was waiting for answer he didnt want to believe was true
Mei: r...reece?
Taylor: one day, he became something else, a kaiju
Hayley: he saved us from a copperhead
Reece: im protecting a damn kaiju i knew something was up in clayton but still none of you decide to tell me
Mei remained silent as she looked at the ground
Man: oh, the copperhead, ah, i know him well he'd show up every once in a while to check on his younglings
Taylor: younglings?
Hayley: that thing had kids?
Man: three, as ornery as their daddy in fact, there used to he four younglings until the other—
Mei: how about we stay on task?
Man: hm? Oh, right, right yeah, this little fella here
Hayley: he's not a killer like other kaiju, he's an innocent
Reece: ugh ive heard enough of this shit i'll be outside
Reece tossed mei gun to her who clumsly caught it as she watched him begin to leave
Mei: wait reece its dangerous out there alone
Reece: better out there in here i can slaughter those kaiju i can't do the same to this fucking one
Everyone could only watch as reece walked out and slammed the door which caused mei's shoulders to drop as she sighed deeply
Taylor: he'll come around
Mei: yeah i hope so
Man: well back to the this little fella
