The Black's Ace (Pacific Rim The Black)

Chapter Eleven

Previously on the black's ace:
The kaiju jeager drone known as apex had gave his life to return boy's memories to him so with boy back with them they headed for sydney base with hopes of humanities survival
Now:
The two jeagers along with kaiju boy ran after shane's tank which was now driven by mei
Reece: someone remind me why i allowed mei to drive the tank and not just carry it
Taylor: we dont know reece it was your idea
Mei: i did say why dont we carry it but you insisted on me driving it
Reece: i thought it would be better since its radar is working so if your ahead of us you'll pick up the kaiju signals like the ones behind us before atlas will
Hayley: we're not far off sydney base now surely
Reece: just keep those legs pumping princess
Mei: scout to atlas and ace still tracking that kaiju behind us looks like it's gaining
Taylor: we outran one and reece beat down the other one, we got this
Mei: those were catagory II's, this one is a cat III, and it'll be tapping you on the shoulder in ten minutes
Reece: argh fuck this
Reece placed ace's right hand on the ground and spun ace around to slide to a stop
Taylor: what are you doing?
Reece: keep going i'll catch up after beating this kaiju down
Mei: no we are not leaving you behind
Reece: mei im in mark 8 jeager i think i'll be fine
Ace: chance of failure is 0.001 percent
Reece: see we'll be fine now go
Taylor: he'a right ace seriously outmatches a catagory III
Mei: doesnt mean i have to like it
Reece: mei honey i'll be fine just keep going i swear i'll be behind you all in no time
Mei: you better be
Reece watched mei, atlas and kaiju boy run/drive off into the distance
Reece: ok ace its time we fight yet again
Ace: all weaponary system are good and active
Reece: thats what i want to hear
With the atlas crew
Mei: we shouldn't have left him behind
Hayley: he fought by himself for months mei when he escaped bogan im sure one kaiju isnt going to threaten his life
Taylor: hayley's right that guy is a tough son of a bitch i can tell you that
Mei: oh hey here's an update that kaiju just vanished off the scope, i guess reece killed it, there is nothing else showing up, so we're clear to keep moving
Taylor: or clear to take a break
Hayley: boy, were stopping to rest
Atlas slowed to a stop and dropped down to one knee
Hayley: i'll come up and see you
Hayley climbed out the conpod and walked along to edge of atlas's left shoulder where boy stood at the same height
Hayley: aw, dont be worried, its all gonna be fine, you will shrink back down, just like you did last time
Boy leaned in allowing hayley to rub his gaint head
Hayley: and if for some reason you dont, i love you either way
Within the conpod of atlas sat taylor speaking with loa
Taylor: you know loa, i keep trying to imagine that moment when i first see sydney in the distance but i cant really picture it
Loa: you had visited sydney base during your cadet orientation
Taylor: yeah, i remember how its looks, what i guess im saying is, it doesnt feel like a real city
Loa: sydney existed five years ago, therefor, it is likely
Taylor: ( sigh) thats not what i mean either, sydney has been this place of peace, of safety, a goal that's been out of reach for so long that its kind of a myth, i cant see myself actually, finally, getting there
Loa: you will get there, i will ensure it
Taylor: be careful, loa, our hope is rubbing off on ya
Loa: oh, well, i am overdue for maintenance
Suddenly the radio comes to life
Mei: atlas, come in! The kaiju is back! Right behind you, it was underground!!
Taylor: shit
Up on conpod hayley heard the rumbling and boy growled
Hayley: i know you want to help but stay back we got this
She ran back inside the conpod to find taylor ready and waiting as they drifted once again and got ready to fight
Taylor: loa, sabar chain
Loa activated the sabar chain and together hayley and taylor fired it into the kaiju's head which allowd them to throw it to the side but the kaiju lunged at atlas but the jeager step to the side and grabbed the tail of the kaiju and flung it into the ground
Loa: ground tremors another kaiju now emerging
As the second kaiju broke the surface of the earth boy hopped over atlas shoulder and attacked the kaiju head on and managed to break the kaiju neck after a small fight leaving haylay and taylor shocked
Hayley: okay, wow
Taylor: that is going to come in handy
Boy roared at the now dead kaiju before looking back to atlas who gave him a thumbs up
Mei who was approaching from behind had a small smile on her as she spoke through the radio
Mei: i guess he is worth keeping around, anyway, scanners clear, but im sure we've got more on the way
Hayley: erm not to cause you to worry mei but if these two kaiju can come from underground and go under our radar, whats happening with reece
Mei: i dont know princess but we're this far ahead of him now that all i can do is hope he is still alive
Taylor: im sure he is
Loa: i can comfirm that ace of spades is still online thanks to the satalites
Mei: well that comforting i suppose
Taylor: yup, breaks over
So the group began moving again and within a couple of feet boy overtook atlas
Hayley: look who wants to race
Taylor: he should be disqualified, kaiju blood is a known performance enhancer
Hayley: (chuckles) yeah, you know, between what the sisters took away from him and what apex gave back, the monster he has inside really seems to be muzzled
Taylor: you've been right about him all along hayley, he wasnt gone, just lost, i couldn't see it
Hayley: thanks taylor and just like boy was lost and came back to us im sure reece and ace arent far behind us
Taylor: oh im sure he is but whoever made him, boy i mean, whatever the plans were for him, you changed it all, you made the differnce
Hayley: we all did and now i just hope his outside changes before we get to sydney
Mei: looks like we're picking up some more, a couple dozen, including smaller ones close behind
Hayley: they must be between us and reece
Taylor: but he wouldn't know since his radar is out
Mei: can we stop talking about him, please, im worried enough about him as it is
Hayley: right sorry mei
Mei: its fine but the smaller ones are probably rippers
Taylor: got it
Back at the two dead kaiju the high priestess had arrived and was not pleased
High priestess: we the child now working against us, bringing him home will prove more difficult, summon the breacher
The following sisters blew their horns which caught the attention of the off course jeager of ace
Reece: thats sounds like the sisters
Reece who was a few miles off course and behind the sister could see the two dead kaiju in the distance
Reece: hmm so there is the kaiju we stopped to kill but how did it get by us without us seeing it
Ace: by the looks of the uneven ground around these two spots near the kaiju bodies they were underground
Reece: so it went right under us but why didnt it engage us
Ace: my assumption is they kaiju wasnt after us but after the kaiju with atlas
Reece: boy and if that horn was any indication they are using everything they have to bring him back to them
Ace: another fight coming pilot?
Reece: always a fight ace always a fight
In a nearby abandoned city was a lone kaiju and one of the biggest the black was to see
Back with the atlas crew
Mei: were always to the mountain pass, you better catch up, a catagory VI's is on an intercept course 30 minutes out, wicked witch is bringing it
Hayley: catagory VI? How big is that?
Taylor: too big, even with boy's help. Loa, how far to sydney base?
Loa: with our current speed, arrival will be in one hour
Hayley: it'll catch us by then, taylor, what'll we do? We need a plan
Within the complex of syndey base the scanners had caught wind of a catagory II kaiju
???: get marshall rask down here now
Back with atlas
Boy roared as he looked toward something the two pilots couldn't see
Hayley: loa? show us what boy's looking at
An imgaine came up on the screen
Taylor: that dust cloud probably kicked up by the catagory VI
Loa: continue the run cycle through the mountain pass, sydney base likely patrols the territory beyond
Behind them the sister carried on blowing their horns with a black jeager following behind them at a great distance
Back at sydney base the marshall had arrived at loccent
Marshall rask: loccent?
???: sir an unidentified jeager and a catagory II kaiju they're about to emerge from the Sisters' territory
Marshall rask: what are those crazy crones up to now? Dispatch the sentries
???: yes, sir
Six sentries were release from sydney base as atlas and crew slowly appraoch the area
Mei: six jeagers on approach, looks like syndey sent us a welcoming party
Taylor: yes!!
Loa: sydney base is now in view, you know longer have to imagine how it looks, taylor
Taylor: thank you, loa
Taylor activated a comm link to sydney base before looking over at hayley
Taylor: want the honours
Hayley smiled before activating the comm link
Hayley: sydney base, this is atlas destroyer, the kaiju you see with us is not hostile, sydney base, do you read? Come in, sydney base
But no answer or response came from sydney base as they were wondering why atlas destroyer wasnt detonated after the fall but after a short while mei notice missles inbound for their location
Mei: missles incoming
But it was too late the first missle blew mei off course and into a roll while atlas and boy stopped running as boy caught the last missle and as the dust cleared they could see boy's kaiju body not moving from the last missles explosion
Hayley: boy!!!
Loa: proximity alert! Warning!!
Taylor and hayley couldn't react in time and were kocked away by a strong force causing atlas to roll and bounce along the ground but slid to a stop to see the catagory VI kaiju be bombarded with missles
Taylor: sydney base, we are friendlies!! Ranger ford and brina travis are our parents, we are fleeing the sisters terroritory
Within seconds the catagory VI attack atlas and pinned him against one of the nearby mountians and began its assault and after a short while atlas was getting worst for ware
Loa: warning! Chest rupture, massive system errors, hull pressure at catastrophic levels
Taylor and hayely slowly raised atlas to his feet once again to stare at the catagory VI kaiju
Taylor: loa, sabar chain
Atlas fired the sabar chain at the kaiju but it simply shrugged it off and used the chain to yank atlas towards it before landing a massive blow to atlas back before snapping the chain then mei unleashed a fury of rockets from shane's tank until she saw boy had revert back to his human self so she stopped and went to approach him when she heard a voice
High priestess: you're braver than i thought, mei
Mei raised her pistol up and aimed towards where voice was coming from until the high priestess showed herself
High priestess: after your many narrow escapes from our embrace, you still insist on crossing my path
Mei: only becaise you keep taling what doesnt belong to you, that stops now
The ripper hound that accompanyed the priestess roared and began stalking forward toward mei who was shaking lightly
High priestess: curious, i saw you abondon your fellow riders during one of our bogan raids, you left them to die, well, the men anyway the women are still with us
Mei: i... i'm not that person anymore
High priestess: yes, you are, leave the child to me, mei, this is not your fight, its theirs and they're losing it
Mei began to slowly lower her pistol before she quickly raised it again and began firing on the ripper hound which took three rounds before diving towards mei who rolled out the way and fiished it off with with a couple more rounds but the high priestess had managed to slip boy away during the conflict
Back with atlas
Atlas was still losing the fight against the catagory VI as it continued to assault the jeager
Taylor: atlas to sydney base, we need assistance!! Atlas to sydney base!!
Loa: communication are down, they cannot hear us
Hayley: we..... we have to get up, we have to get to the base
Atlas managed to push the kaiju back but it was only a small offense as the jeager was just too badly damaged as it dropped to its knees once again until the kaiju knocked it flat and place its gaint foot on it back before roaring out
Meanwhile the high priestess had boy in her grasp and was trying to flee but boy managed to get free and step away from her
High priestess: messiah, fear not, your disciples have liberated you once again
Boy turned his head to the sounds of the catagory VI roars and saw it beating down atlas amd was about to help when the high priestess stopped him as she made him watch as the kaiju ripped off the new arm atlas had received from apex
High priestess: sure crimes against the new order dictate the most severe of punishments
As the high priestess turned back to boy he forced his hand into her chest and heart killing her justbas mei ran up behind him then the two could only watch the catagory VI throw atlas around
Loa: ending drift
Taylor: loa what are you doing
Hayley: we cant give up
Loa: odds of survival are at 2 percent
Taylor: you said you dont give odds anymore
Loa: but now, action must be taken, my pilots will survive
Hayley: ejection protocal, you're not doing this
Taylor: loa?
Loa: t-minus 60 second to detonation, hayley, you have been the heart of this journey, we would not have survived without you
Hayley: loa, no
Loa: taylor, dispite what you believe through all of this, you have grown, you have owned your mistakes and you have shown great leadership in getting us this far that is something a sister, a father and even a dying mother could be proud of, i know i am
Taylor: no, no, don't do this
Hayley and taylor were raised up into the escape pod and were ejected from atlas's conpod and were a safe distance away when the massive explosion happened and once it died down they approached the crator that was left and saw the remains of atlas and the kaiju's body as mei approached in shane's tank and boy hopped out first who hayley ran to
Mei: so is it finally dead?
Taylor: thanks to loa i don't think it could survive that
But as the ground start to shake they all turned around to see a very badly damaged catagory VI had climbed out of the crator and was looking at them
Hayley: ITS SURVIVED THAT
Taylor: barely
The kaiju went to step forward but a black metal hand landed on its left shoulder and a black chain sword appeared through it stomach and they went up cutting the kaiju in half and as the kaiju body fell back into the crator it revealed a very beaten ace to the four
Hayley: REECE!
Reece: (panting) thats for atlas you kaiju bastard
The four watched as ace powered down and reece climbed down and approached them
Reece: sorry im late
Mei: BABE!!!!
Mei who dropped her hard exterior had rushed up and embraced reece crying into his chest
Reece: hey hey im here beaten and bruised but im here
Taylor: its good to see you alive
Reece: yeah like wise but it looks like i was too late for atlas im sorry this is all my fault for spliting us up
Hayley: its ok we will miss loa but she doesnt have to fight anymore
Taylor: yeah she served us well its was an honor to meet her but what the hell happened to ace
Reece: kaiju lots of kaiju long story short that kaiju i stopped to fight never appeared so we turned to follow after you guys but with no radar i want of course by a few miles then i heard the sister's horn and from a long distance follow them here but when it started raining missles i am assume they hit the sisters so all the kaiju that were followimg them turned to me
Hayley: how many were there
Reece: seven or eight if i remember right there were 5 cat I's, 1 cat II and a cat III so yeah a lot of muscle
Taylor: well i guess we should get to sydney base
Reece: well hop on in ace i'll give you guys a lift
Hayley: thanks but i think i'll jump in with mei ive kinda had enough piloting for one day
Taylor: same here
Reece: suit your selfs
The sounds of air crafts approaching made the five look up
Reece: well guess i see you there
Reece slowly let go of mei and limped back to ace just as the air crafts picked up everyone else so he slwoly dragged ace back to sydney base and by the time he made it the base the travis's had been reunited with their father and now were now waiting for him to come down from the conpod
Reece: well ace we made it beaten and bruised but we made it
Ace: im glad i could help you achieve your goal pilot
Reece: i couldn't of done any of this without you ace so thank you
Ace: my pleasure pilot
Reece: say ace im thinking about asking the marshall about me being able to rename you, the name ace of spades while its holds memories of me and my dad i think it will be good to let that name die with my dad
Ace: i agree pilot and i shall await my new disingnation
Reece: it will be good i swear
Reece climbed down from ace very slowly and limped over to everyone but he stumble forward luckly mei rushed to his side and supported him
Marshall rask: ranger parker its great to see you're still alive but where is your father?
Reece: he..... didnt make it im all that's left sir
Marshall rask: noo another soul lost to the damn black im sorry.....sir
Reece: sir? Im just a ranger marshall
Marshall rask: get some rest kid i'll explain everything tomorrow and i'll have ace back in top condition aswell
Reece: thank you sir and while we speak about that jeager i'd like to rename him i want the ace of spades to die along with my old man
Marshall rask: of course what would you like his new disignation to be?
Reece: black ace
Marshall rask: i'll have that completed for you now all of you get some rest and kid
Reece: hmmm
Marshall rask: walls here are thick
Reece: argh i swear i regret telling my dad about mei but after what we've all been through sir i dont think it will be loud
Marshall rask: i was just joking kid
Reece: yeah yeah same room?
Marshall rask: its how you left it
Reece: great
So reece along with mei, boy and the travis siblings left for the sleep quarters while ford travis appraoched marshall rasks side
Ford: is it time for him to step up, do you think?
Marshall rask: Yes i do,his father was to be marshall and pilot i see no difference in him
Ford: well in that case its been an honour sir
Marshall rask: that it has ranger that it has
Within a hour reece and mei had showered, eaten and were fast asleep cuddled together with no worries of kaiju finding them for once
