"Come on, Chris! You should know these moves!" Daniel yells in frustration.
"Sorry Mr. L. I'm just trying to keep up." Chris frowns.
"Did you like having your arm broken, Demetri?" Daniel asks as he circles him. "Because if you defend like that you'll be right back in that cast before you know it!"
Amanda sends her husband a look of disbelief. "Uh, okay guys. Let's take five, yeah? There's iced tea and lemonade inside."
The students collectively sigh in relief, and Violet goes over to check on Jonas who is sanding the deck. "Do your shoulders hurt yet?"
"A little bit." Jonas says as he rolls his shoulders. "I'm almost done, though."
"Well, rest those shoulders and come get some lemonade or tea." Violet smiles. "Sensei's attitude is ruining everything so we're taking five until Amanda talks him down."
"Ah, sounds good." Jonas says as he stands up. "Not Sensei's attitude, but the lemonade."
Violet laughs. "I gotcha."
As Violet sips her lemonade, she hears Amanda say Robby's name and begins to eavesdrop on them.
"Look, Daniel, you need to let him figure it out. If he wants to come back, the door's always open. But if he doesn't, you're gonna have to let him go."
Her words feel like a knife to Violet's and Daniel's hearts alike, though Violet knows deep down she's right.
"I can't just let him go. He has no one!"
You're wrong. He has me, and he always will.
"Wow, would you look at this!" the loud voice of a man entering the dojo scares Violet away from eavesdropping, her hand over her heart.
She turns around to see Jonas looking at her incredulously. "If you want to eavesdrop, I suggest being a little more discreet."
"I wasn't...ah, who am I kidding?" Violet chuckles. "I definitely was."
"Yeah, peeking around the corner really gave it away." Jonas smiles, putting his cups to his lips.
"Okay, smartass." Violet crosses her arms, walking up to him. "You know I'm in charge of your fundamentals training, right? Do you really want to be smart with me?"
