Time Is Many Things. (Through the looking glass)

Chapter Eight: Institution.

"You's cannot, escape, Time," he growled.

"I'm sorry, but we must save hatter," I told him before grabbing Alices wrist and going through the mirror.

"Alice, Annalise. Come back with my Chromosphere," was the last thing I heard as everything went black.

I'm cold, and it seems I'm laying on a very uncomfortable bed. I open my eyes to be confronted by light, as my eyes adjust to the light I notice I'm in a very plain room; all greys, blues and whites, like a hospital wing.

Turning my head, I notice Alice is next to me. She too is just waking up. With a groan she sits up, I mimic her movements.

"Where are we?" I asked, not wanting the answer to be what I think it is.

"I think... we're back in London," she tells me as I sigh in defeat, closing my eyes for a moment.

When all of a sudden, the door slams open to reveal; Higgings.

Why is he here? And usually wherever he is, Ascot's with him...

As if on cue, in walks Ascot.

"Having fun in here," Ascot teased, smirking.

"Where exactly is 'here'?" I spat, using quotation.

"You's are in an institution," Higgins answered smugly.

"How long have we been here?" Alice asked, causing me to remember our mission to save hatter and how much time we have left.

"Not long. You's were found, in an upstairs room at my place," Ascot answered, still smirking. "I had you's brought here. You both were behaving, soo... strangely. You's were trying to get under the furniture... talking about the atmosphere."

Alice and I gasps in realisation.

"The Chromosphere," I whispered causing the two men to laugh hysterically as Alice gave me a worried look.

"The what?" Higgings asked, still laughing.

I look at Alice and mouth, 'we have to get back,' she understood and we both quickly stood up out of bed.

"What do you think you's are doing?" Ascot asked in a tone that says 'I am boss'.

"Thank you for your concern, but Alice and I must be on our way," I said, trying to reach for the door.

"I don't think so, Missy," Higgings teased as he grabbed my arm.

"Let her go!" Alice demanded.

"Why? So then she can go running back to that freak she told me about," he spat, holding my arm tighter causing me to whimper.

Alice didn't have a response, nor did I. It was, in fact, so we can go to Hatter and save him and his family.

After being silent for so long, the two men looked at each other and then, again, started laughing.

"You can't be serious?" Ascot laughed. "You could have had Edward, a Lord. But you choose some poor freak?"
