Kara O'Connell was enjoying her retired life. She wouldn't lie and say she didn't miss the adventures but she still enjoyed her daily life things and she found a way to keep herself busy as she once was. Her husband on the other side could not say the same. He was finding it hard to do so but he had to endure it for his daughter. Evangeline has just graduated high school and is ready to start her own adventure.
Kara was a proud mother of three and no matter the circumstances or sacrifices she had to make she was happy with the life she was living, and so was Rick, even if he was finding it hard to do so. On the other side of the world, Alex O'Connell was making his own path, trying to be separated from his parents legacies. Aaron on the other side was like his brother but he always loved to get his parents help, it was something he loved. He knew from his mother and father that the two barely spent time with their parents. Kara's mother died when she was young and so did her step mother, her father following soon after. With Rick it was more complicated but Aaron knew he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his parents.
Kara and her husband Rick were in the living room. They were given one last assignment, that was if they accepted. "I've been sent to offer you one last assignment" the man said. Kara and Rick wanted to scream of joy but acted as if it was no big deal. "I'm afraid we've retired from the espionage game, haven't we, darling?" she asked as she turned to face her husband. "Yeah, we've... we don't do that anymore. We're finished" he replied looking at the man. "Not at all" she added. "Completely done" he added as well. It was obvious they wanted to say yes. The married couple shared glances. "But out of curiosity, what is the mission anyway?" Rick asked. "We need you to courier this to Shanghai"the man replied opening a box that contained some diamond.
Kara gasped. "Nice piece of ice" O'Connell competed. "It's the Eye of Shangri-La" Kara said as she grabbed it from the box and showed it to her husband. "if you believe the legend, it points the way to the Pool of Eternal Life and to the home of Thena, the Eternal" she explained with hope, wander and amazement in her eyes. "It was smuggle out of China in 1940" the man replied. "Now the government would like to return it to the Shanghai Museum as a sign of good faith to the Chinese people" he explained. "And with your expertise in the field, we naturally thought of you" the two smiled. "Oh, we'd be so flattered" she said with excitement but she quickly stopped. "But Rick and I, we made a promise to each other after the war that we would settle down" she stated. "That's right, yeah, we did, didn't we? We..." Rick agreed. "I see" the man said not fully convinced. "Well, I must admit I am a little disappointed. Postwar China is very dangerous. There are a lot of factions that would love to get their hands on the Eye of Shangri-La. In lesser hands, the Eye could be lost forever" he explained trying to convince them.
"We couldn't let that happen, could we?" she asked her husband. "No, that could be very bad for the world" Rick replied. "The world... Terrible" she added. "Yeah" he replied. "You know, she has a brother that lives in Shanghai" Rick sated remembering Jonathan lives there. "Jonathan! That's right!" she replies excitedly. "Yeah" Rick says. "He owns a nightclub if I'm not mistaken" the man adds. "We've been meaning to visit. We could..." she began. "We could..." Rick adds. "We could drop in and surprise him" she finishes. "Say hello" Rick says. "Why not?" she asks. "Does this mean we can count on you the last time?" the man asks. "Yes" Rick and Kara replied at the same time. Another adventure was about to take place. The others had been deadly and life changing but this one? This was is unknown and the outcome is also unknown.
Alexander, Aaron, Kara, Jonathan, Rick and possibly Evangeline are about to embark a new adventure that no one knows where it will lead them but there is only one hope. That they all make it back alive, but this time, I am not so sure about that.
