LONDON, 1935

Kara had never been one to show her emotions. There had been only a handful of people who had ever seen her cry. Her siblings Evelyn and Jonathan and her husband Richard O'Connell. But, now, there was another name on that list. Ardeth Bay. Kara didn't cry a river but she had a few tears rolling down her cheeks, she was sad and angry, a deadly combination. She was usually calm and collected. But she was a mother now, she couldn't be calm and collected if her children were not with her. Rick engulfed his wife in a tight hug, trying to comfort her. He kissed the top of her head. "Please, do not fear for your sons, my friends," Ardeth said to Kara and Rick. "They cannot hurt them, for one of them is wears the bracelet of Anubis" he adds. Kara lets go of her husband. "Don't tell me. Alex is the one wearing the bracelet, isn't he?" she asked. Aaron was the voice of reason between the two, while Alex was the trouble maker. But, sometimes the both of them were trouble makers. Jonathan nodded.

"When he put it on, he said he saw the pyramids at Giza, the temple at Karnak" Rick replied. "Yes, and when they reach Karnak, the bracelet will show him the next step of the journey" Ardeth added. "Well, if we don't get to Karnak before them, we won't have any idea where to look for him next," she says worriedly. "Seems to me like we need a magic carpet," Rick says making her wonder what kind of trouble her husband will stir.

NEXT DAY

They arrive at some sort of small village. "This is the magic carpet?" Kara asks her husband. "He'll be fine. He's a professional" he replies. A man opens a door, right when O'Connell sees him, he recognizes him. "Izzy!" Rick says happily. The man runs back inside and locks the door. "Hey!" Rick calls out. "He definitely remembers you," Kara says from the side. "He's a little shy" her husband defends himself. He looks towards Jonathan who has just gotten off the car. "Jonathan, get our bags" he orders him. Jonathan walks towards him. "Oh, my hands are full" he replies. Kara takes the gold stick from his hand. "Now" she orders. "Right. I'll get the bags" he replies. O'Connell looks at his wife with an amused look. She winks at him. "I'll deal with the flight details," he says before taking out his gun and shoots the door lock. "Honey, you're not a subtle man" she states. "We don't have time for subtle" he replies she smirks and kicks the door open.

Izzy takes off running. "Izzy, come here" Rick calls out. "Oh, no, no" the man replies. Kara gives her husband an amused look. "He doesn't look happy to see you, darling" she teases. "Hasn't turned me down yet" he replies as they walk towards Izzy. "Whatever it is, whatever you need, I don't care," Izzy says. "Forget it, O'Connell. Every time I hook up with you, I get shot!" Izzy claims as he grabs some rolls. "Last time I got shot in the ass. I'm in mourning of my ass!" he exclaims once again before he walks away. "Remember that bank job in Marrakesh?" he asks. "Bank job?" Kara asks. He turns around. "It's not like it sounds" Rick replies. "It's exactly how it sounds," Izzy says as he looks through some boxes. "I'm flying high, hiding in the sun. The white boy here flags me down, so I fly low for the pickup. The next thing you know, I get shot! I'm lying in the middle of the road with my spleen hanging out, and I see him waltzing up with some belly dancer girl" Izzy says telling her the whole story making O'Connell signal him to stop talking. Kara looks at her husband with a raised eyebrow.

"Belly dancer girl? Izzy, I think you and I should talk?" she asks/says. He turns back. "As long as I don't get shot" he replies. "Quit your whining. You're gonna get paid this time" O'Connell says as he throws a pack of money at Izzy. "O'Connell, have you looked around here? Huh? What do I need this money for? What the hell am I gonna spend it on?" Izzy asks. Kara steps in front of her husband. "Izzy, I'm gonna keep this short" she starts. "My little boys are out there. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get them back" she stops when she sees Izzy eyeing the gold in her hand. She moves it around and notices Izzy moves too. "Mrs. O'Connell, if you give me that gold stick there, you can shave my head, wax my legs and use me for a surfboard" he offers. She gives him the gold stick. O'Connell walks closer to them. "Didn't we do that in Tripoli?" O'Connell asks. Izzy gives him mischievous smile. "Say, by the way, how did you lose your eye?" O'Connell asks.

Izzy turns to him and laughs. "Oh, I didn't" he removes the eye patch. "I just thought it made me look more dashing" he replies with a laugh. O'Connell rips off the eye patch. "Come on. Get to work" he orders. Izzy nods. They walk outside. Jonathan and O'Connell in the front. Kara and Izzy at the back. "You caught me at my best," he says to her. "Oh, I'm sure I have" she replies. They stop walking when they see twelve medjai men on their horses. Ardeth walks over to them. "I knew it. I'm gonna get shot" Izzy says. They began to walk once again. O'Connell greets Ardeth with a wave. "These are the twelve leaders of the twelve Medjai tribes," Ardeth says as he walks closer to them. "Horus!" he yells and an eagle flies towards him. "A pet bird," Jonathan says. "My best and most clever friend" Aredth replies. "He will let the commanders know of our progress so that they may follow," he tells them. Ardeth turns to them and starts to speak in Arabic. The men reply the same and turn away from them.

"If the army of Anubis arises, they will do all they can to stop it," he says as he turns towards them. "Rick, are you sure Izzy's reliable?" Kara asks. "Yeah, yeah, he's reliable-ish" he replies as they walk towards Izzy's "Plane". "Isn't she beautiful?" Izzy asks. "It's a balloon" O'Connell replies. "Oh! It's a dirigible," Izzy says. "Where's your airplane?" O'Connell asks and Izzy laughs. "Airplanes are a thing of the past," Izzy says. "Izzy, you were right," O'Connell says to him. "I was?" Izzy asked, confusedly. "Yeah. You're gonna get shot" O'Connell replies as he takes out his gun. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! She's faster than she looks" Izzy tries to reason. "And she's quiet. Real quiet" O'Connell puts down his gun. "Perfect for sneaking up on people, which is a very good thing" he adds as he stops in front of Rick. "Unless, of course, we go with your approach, barging in face-first, guns blazing, and get your friends shot in the ass!" he accuses his friend. O'Connell looks at Kara and shrugs. Ardeth looks at their ride. "Why can't you people ever keep your feet on the ground?" he asks.

Throughout the day they flew, they passed the pyramids. Nighttime came quicker than they thought. "O'Connell does not want to believe, but he flies like Horus towards his destiny," Ardeth says. "Yes, yes, very interesting. Tell me something more about this gold pyramid" Jonathan said clearly wanting to know more about gold. "Well, it is written that since the time of the Scorpion King, no man who has laid eyes upon it has ever returned to tell the tale" Ardeth complies. "Where is all this stuff written?" Jonathan asks. "Hello," he says as he is able to get the gold stick from Izzy. "Pretty nice, eh?" he asks Ardeth as he shows him the gold stick. "This is all I have left in the world," Jonathan says. "The rest of my fortune was lost to some rather unscrupulous characters, actually," he tells him. "But if the curator reacted to it the way you say, it must be pretty important. If I were you, I would keep it close" Ardeth told him as he pets Horus.

"My friend, the gods couldn't take this away from me," Jonathan said confidently as he put it up Izzy grabbed it. "Hey! That's mine!" Izzy exclaimed. "No! It's not!" Jonathan argued. Izzy managed to take it away from Jonathan making Ardeth laugh. "Keep your hands off it" Izzy warn him.

Kara stood in the front of the boat-ballon when she felt someone walking towards her. It was her husband. He grabbed her shoulder. "Hey," he said. She looked at him. "I want them back, Rick," she said as he grabbed his hands. "I want them in my arms," she said as he hugged her closer to him. "I know, Kars. I do too" he said to her. "We taught them well," he said to her who was on the verge of tears, as was he. "They're smarter than you and tougher than me" she looked back at him and nodded. "I love them so much. I just can't..." she stopped. "I know. We both do. Alex and Aaron know that too" he tried to treasure her. "I'll get them back, Kars, I promise" he swore. "I know you will" she stated and grabbed his hand in support.
