A beautiful woman of fifty was awakened by a gentle nudge from her mother. She turned to see Alma, her mama, smiling down at her.

"Wake up, mi flor perfecta," Alma said warmly as Mia sat up. "We don't want to be late. Tonight is Antonio's special night."

"Oh, I almost forgot! I'd better wake up the kids," Mia replied, quickly getting dressed.

"Once you're ready, meet the family downstairs," Alma instructed before walking away.

"Of course, Mama," Mia agreed, hurrying to prepare herself. She first went to Anna's room but found it empty. Confused, she checked her son's room, but he wasn't there either. Finally, she opened Isabela's door and found all her children sound asleep in a heap.

Mia smiled softly and gently roused them. "Come on, it's time to get up. We have a busy day ahead—it's your cousin's ceremony day."

Isabela stirred and mumbled, "Please, Mama, tell me Mirabel isn't singing again..." She trailed off as a melodic voice floated in from the hallway. It was Mirabel, singing a cheerful tune as she walked past.

"Oh, give her a break, mi amor. It's a special day," Mia said with a chuckle.

"Mama," Anna said, looking up at her.

"Come on," Mia said, guiding Miguel and Anna to their rooms to get dressed. "Meet me downstairs," she called as she left.

The whole family soon gathered outside as Mirabel continued her song, opening the door to lead them out. As they headed into town, Mia noticed the neighborhood children pestering Mirabel about everyone's gifts.

When Mia reached her store, a crowd was already waiting. She opened the door, and people flooded in.

"Okay, who's first?" Mia asked. A lady rushed up to her.

"I'm getting married in three weeks and I need a wedding dress," she said anxiously.

"Alright, what kind of dress are you looking for?" Mia inquired, jotting down notes.

My Tía Mia is a tireless worker, always crafting and creating, never giving up even when the timing isn't perfect.

Mia shook off the distraction and got back to work. Once she finished, she stepped outside to see what was happening.

---

The sound of singing filled the air as Mirabel led the neighborhood children in a cheerful song. Mia sighed, closed her store, and decided to take a walk.

"Grandkid round up!" someone shouted, startling Mia. She saw everyone following Mirabel in a merry procession. Smiling, she headed back towards Casita.

"Antonio gets his gift today," Mirabel sang. "My cousin Anna can draw you a picture, cousin Dolores can hear a pin drop, Camilo shape-shifts, and today is Antonio's special day. My older siblings Miguel, Isabela, and Luisa: one is smart, one is strong, and one is graceful—perfect in every way."

As Mirabel's song continued, Mia reached the house just as Alma was directing Luisa to move a piano upstairs.
