"You're off to great places. Today is your first day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way! Meet Samantha Clifford but everyone calls her Sammie. She's the new kid at Berry High School in Cedar Cove....and this is her high school story."

In Cedar Cove, Olive M. Berry High, Sammie Clifford, a young European/Caucasian teen, arrives a few minutes, before school is set and spots a few students rushing by.

Julian: I can't believe we're finally starting our senior year. This is going to be lit! Whoo-hoo!

Nishan: I know! AP Calculus is going to be epic!

Payton: and homecoming is around the corner...speaking of which, I'd better find a date.

Mia: Yeah, I'm not buying that. Knowing you and your cuteness, you've got a whole list of guys ready to bite at you.

Payton: (smiling) A lady knows, but never tells.

Sammie looks on and smiles, but gives a saddened look, thinking she can't just walk up and start talking to them. She later passes by the students and walks to the inner courtyard, where she inspects the statue of the mascot, Ollie the Tiger. As Sammie stares at the statue and begins to read the plaque, a girl named Autumn with a camera walks up to Sammie.

Autumn: Hi! You must be new here! I love your look! You mind if I take a photo of you with our statue? It's for our yearbook.

Sammie: Uh....yeah....sure.

Sammie poses next to statue and smiles, before Autumn take the photo with her camera and examines it.

Autumn: Awesome! This is going to look so good in the yearbook! Bye for now!

Sammie attempts to speak, but she walks away.

Sammie: What the heck....Come on Sammie....this should be easy.

As Sammie vents to herself, a voice calls from behind her.

???: Hey, you okay? You a little like a deer in the headlights?

Sammie: Oh, I was just....

Sammie turns to see a beautiful blonde girl smiling at her.

Emma: You were just what?

Sammie: Sorry....uh....working through some first days nerves.

Emma (laughs): I definitely can relate to that. Last year, my first day of my freshman year, I almost hyperventilated, which ended with me taking a trip to nurse's office.

Sammie: Ohh....

Emma: Anyway, you looked like you could use a friend.

Sammie: Yeah, I actually could....(taking out her schedule from her backpack and presenting it to Emma) This place is like fifty percent amazing and fifty percent is completely overwhelming. I don't even know where my homeroom is. 225B....Hey, how many rooms does this school have?

Emma (reading the schedule): Wait, that's actually my homeroom, too. Come with me. We wouldn't want you to be late your first day.

Emma leads Sammie into the school.

Emma: I'm Emma by the way.

Sammie: Nice to meet you, Emma. I'm Samantha but everyone calls me Sammie.

In the hallways, Sammie and Emma make their way through the hallways crowded with other students towards the homeroom.

Emma: Here it is!
