Payton puts up the last few tryout results lists on the wall.

Payton: The lists are up! The lists are up!

Instantly, a crowd forms around the bulletin board, with Sammie and Emma in the back.

Myra: I made first-chair trombone!

Myra begins jumping up and down with a look of pure joy on her face. Sammie and Emma elbow their way to the front of the crowd as she begins scanning the list for her name.

Sammie Clifford: Saxophone

Sammie: Oh my goodness gracious! I'm first-chair saxophone!

Emma: Told you that was easy! And I am now in the color guard too!

Sammie: Nice job, Emma! I told you you had nothing to worry about.

Emma: You were right....About everything. I think this is just the new activity I needed!

Sammie: And I am so proud of you, Emma! The best part is we'll be doing this together!

Emma: Agreed. I wouldn't want to do this with anybody else.

Sammie: We're going to be a dynamic duo this school has even seen!

Michael: Bravo, you ladies.

Emma and Sammie turn to Michael.

Michael: Remind me to buy you a congratulations card.

Sammie: You know; it's sometimes hard to tell whether you're being an smart-ass or not.

Michael: Oh, I'm definitely being a smart-ass.

Sammie: Oh, I get it. You're the 'I'm too cool to take place in an extraordinary activities' type of guy. We're all very impressed.

Michael: Sounds like you've got me pegged. Of course....if you actually want to get to know me, you could always come hang out with me and my friends at lunch.

Sammie: Hold up! Is that a genuine invitation? Or....are you being sarcastic again?

Michael: This time it's genuine. If you want to hang out, meet me outside after third bell.

Sammie: In that case....I'll have to take a rain check.

Michael: Your loss. See you around sometime. Enjoy your....highly-organized activities.

He turns and struts away.

Emma: That guy is lucky he's cute. His personality leaves a lot to be desired.

Sammie: He's definitely....unique. Anyway, i don't care what he says. But I am excited for the band and make that list!

Emma: Me too, Sammie. I hope the color guard is going well for me. And I wonder what our first practice is going to be like....

After school

In the women's locker room, Sammie finds a newly assigned locker and opens it up. Inside, she finds a brand new band uniform with white gloves and the saxophone in her hands.

Sammie: My first uniform! I look amazing!

Sammie puts on the uniform and rushes to the band room. Emma's standing with the color guard, but runs over when she sees Sammie.

Emma: Sammie! You're finally here!

Sammie: Hi Guys!

Autumn: Hey Sammie! Nice outfit! Would you pose for me?

Sammie: You certainly can, Autumn!

Autumn giggles and takes a photo of Sammie in the band room holding an saxophone, smiling.
