Sammie opens her front door....and find Emma pacing back and forth on the porch, clutching a bouquet of flowers. Her head snaps up when she hears the door open.

Emma: Oh, you actually answered! Your dad said you'd be right here. But I thought you wouldn't come out....Or maybe you just left. Or, or....

Sammie: You ok, Emma? I can go back inside if you need me to--

Emma: No! I mean....

Emma closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.

Emma: How do I start? These are for you.

Sammie takes a flower bouquet.

Sammie: Emma, these are beautiful! But why....?

Emma: I know it's super late, but I really need to ask you.

Sammie: What is it?

Emma: Sammie Clifford, would you go to homecoming with me?

Sammie: Emma Hawkins, Yes! I would love to be your date!

Emma: You will? You will!

Emma throws her arms around Sammie. She chuckle as she gives a big hug her back.

Sammie: What? Were you worried?

Emma: You have no idea. I was practicing the entire car ride over here.

Sammie pull away from Emma's embrace. She gently caress her cheek as she gaze into her deep brown eyes.

Sammie: You have to nothing worry about. You are the only person I want to go to homecoming with.

Emma: Aw, Sammie....

As if pulled by some outside force, Sammie lean in to close to Emma. Her lips almost brush hers, and....the door swings open, and her dad struts out. Emma lets out a small squeak. She shyly hides behind Sammie, taking her hand.

Scott: No need to be afraid. Just wanted to see how the dance prepared went. But holding hands is a good sign. I take it that my little Sammie-bear's coming home with you!

Sammie: Dad!

Emma: Oh, um, Sammie wanted to go to homecoming with me. That's it!

Scott: I'm just kidding, Emma. You ladies will make a great couple at the dance.

Emma: Thanks. I think so, too.

Scott: Come on, Sammie. It's late. You need your beauty sleep to impress your date!

Sammie: Dad!

Sammie's dad winks at her before returning inside. She turns to Emma and squeezes her hand.

Sammie: I should probably go. I'll see you Monday?

Emma: If not sooner. Goodnight, Sammie.

Emma kisses Sammie's cheek, and she heads inside the house. After shutting the front door, Sammie smiles.

Sammie: If not sooner indeed.

In her car, Emma blushes and bites her lip.

Emma: YES! I have a date!

Thursday, after school....

Sammie is walking out of her last class of the day, when Maria runs up to her, panicked.

Maria: Sammie, it's a crisis! A homecoming catastrophe!

Sammie: Uh-oh. What happened?

Maria: I'm trying to make the dance perfect like it should be....but we only have enough money in our budget for one extra thing. I can't decide what's best.
