Friday evening....
The first football game of the season is about to start. Hundreds of students are packed in the stands, ready to watch Berry High take on Statton School for the humanities. Meanwhile, on the field, the cheerleaders are raring to go.
Mia: Go Tigers go!
Sydney: Fight Tigers Fight!
Payton: Whooooo! Let's go!
Sammie takes one last water bottle before the start of the game, just as Scott enters the stadium and calls to his daughter.
Scott: Sammie! Sammie! Hey, daughter! Over here!
Sammie looks over to Scott and smiles, before running over to the stadium.
Sammie: Hi Dad! You finally made it!
Scott: Like I'd miss my lil cub's first halftime performance! So, on a scale of visit to the dentist to trip to magic fun land, how excited are you?
Sammie: I'd rate this Trip to magic fun land! I feel like I'm going to burst!
Scott: Oh no. That sounds messy.
Sammie: It's a metaphor, Dad!
Scott: I know, silly. Now, I'll get out of your hair, because it looks like someone wants to talk to you.
Sammie: Huh? Who?
Scott walks off as Sammie turns to notice Maria behind her.
Maria: Hi, Sammie!
Sammie: Hey, what's up, Maria?
Maria: You'd better do your best out there. I've seen the statistics, and there's a strong correlation between satisfaction with the win record and satisfaction with the homecoming dance!
Sammie: Really?
Maria: Okay, that came out wrong. What I'm trying to say, Sammie, is good luck. I'm rooting for you.
Sammie: Well, if that's the case, Now I have to do well! Homecoming won't be ruined on my account.
Emma: Sammie, it's time!
Sammie: I will be there in just a second, Hawkins.
Sammie turn back to Maria.
Sammie: I've gotta go, but thanks for saying hi!
Sammie wave goodbye and head back to the pit and watch the football team kick off to begin the game. Statton starts with possession of the ball. Frank and the rest of the berry defense take the field.
Frank: Get ready for a world of hurt, bubba.
Statton #10: Blue, 42....Blue 42.... Hike!
Sammie watch from the stands with the rest of the band and cheer on the football team.
Myra: Go Tigers go!
Ezra: Fight Tigers Fight!
When Berry's offense marches onto the field, it seems that Brian and Caleb have set aside their differences.
Brian: Berry, 82...Berry 82... Hike!
Brian fakes a handoff to Julian and throws the ball downfield to Caleb.
Brian: It's all you, Caleb!
Caleb: Nice pass.
Payton: Run, Caleb, Run!
Caleb turns and runs his heels towards the end zone, but then trips at the last second. The ball slips out of his hands and a Statton player recovers it in the end zone.
