summary: school is stressful. which is why your boyfriend tries really hard to get you to calm down from it and make you take a break.

Y/n had to start taking her mind off of things very desperately and Kit knew this.

She was in her exam phase and it was visibly stressing her out, even if everyone close to her kept insisting on the fact that she would do great on her exams. She'd be finishing school this year, making this her final year and her most important grades for now.

Y/n had been sleeping less, something that had not gone unnoticed by Kit, giving him the final push.

It was Thursday night, the day before Y/n's big maths exam. She had been studying for 2 months straight, trying to get all the relevant information into her brain. "Come on Y/n, you need to sleep."

Kit was sitting upright on his hands, looking at her back. Because of the mirror placed in front of the desk, he could see her eyes still focused on the notes she had taken.

"You can sleep, I just have to go though this one more time." Her eyes barely leave the paper, only sneaking a fast glance at him.

"That's literally what you said 20 minutes ago, and 20 minutes before that too." He lets her know, one eyebrow raised.

If there is one thing Kit Connor had learned these past few weeks, it was to not trust Y/n with her conditions on studying. "Listen Kit: I'm sorry but this is super important and it's barely 10 pm." She says desperately, turning around to first face him and then the clock, which reads 1 am.

After a small minute of silence she sighs, rubbing her temple. "Just..." She looks at him and he notices that he did the right decision in not letting her continue studying.

"Just a little more and I'll finish this, okay? I promise I'll come to bed when I'm finished." Her lips curl into an apologetic smile and with that she turns around and continues her studying.

Kit mimics her actions from a few seconds ago, sighing. He softly stands up, if Y/n hadn't paid attention to her surrounding, she wouldn't have heard anything at all. "You really didn't leave me a choice." He shuts the laptop which was placed in front of her, picking her up from the chair she had been sitting in for five hours.

"Oh my god Kit, put me down!" She playfully hits his chest, groaning out when he doesn't bother fulfilling her request. "This is more important than sleep." Kit just frowns at this, laying Y/n on their shared bed.

"Well, actually your health is more important." He lets her know, letting himself fall on the bed too. "Besides, everyone knows you'll do great on the exam."

"Now", Kit starts, moving a little closer to his girlfriend, "You are forced to cuddle with me until we are both asleep." He smiles innocently at this, wrapping his arms around her.

Y/n though, was deeply lost in her thoughts, trying to remember everything she had learned for the exam.

Then, suddenly, she had gotten an idea. A quite good one, if she was allowed to say so herself.

She'd wait until her boyfriend was asleep, then she would quietly get out of bed and continue her studying.

She had found out moments later this turned out to be a lot harder for her than she had thought of it.

Kit's presence was something she couldn't quite place a finger one. Whenever he was around Y/n, she felt at home and she felt the safest she had in a long time.

Another thing making her plan nearly impossible was the fact he kept an eye on her. Kit knew Y/n was not dumb and he could picture her figuring out a way to study, so he decided to stay up until she fell asleep to prevent this the best he could.

"I swear to god, Y/n. If you dare to learn again tonight, I will burn down your school and you won't be able to take the test." He jokingly said, or at least that's was Y/n thought, making her let out a laugh. "Okay, okay. I get it." Y/n roles her eyes in a playful manner,  laying her head on Kit's chest, feeling the fatigue overcome her once again.

She lets out a loud yawn, closing her eyes to the sound of Kit's steady heartbeat. "Sleep or I'll sell your laptop and buy me food with the money." He tries keeping a straight face, making Y/n let out one last laugh.

*time skip*

The room was engulfed in darkness when Y/n slowly opened her eyes again. She tried to find her phone and when she finally did, she was greeted by an unbearable light, making it impossible for her to see anything.

After her eyes finally adjust, she sees that it's 4 am, the perfect time to study, right?

She slowly untangles herself from Kit, making sure to not wake him, then making her way to where her laptop was, slowly sitting down and opening it.

After half an hour of studying, the yawning starts again, a sign that she should head to bed, which she decided against.

She becomes less aware of her surrounding, forgetting the cup, made out of hard plastic, she had been drinking out of before she was forced to bed.

That's when it falls to the ground, making terribly loud noises. Kit sits upright, squinting through his eyes. "Really, Y/n?" He looks beyond pissed, but just sighs.

"It's an exam and all of your grades are phenomenal, you are allowed to mess up one exam, which I know you won't, but still." He explains to her, at the end of his nerves.

She nods, moving towards the bed, where she lays next to him again.

"Goodnight Kit. I'm sorry." This time her arms are wrapped around his, and he smiles, finally having convinced her.

"Goodnight, Y/n." It's the last thing the both of them say before falling asleep, not waking up until the morning.

*little bonus*

"I got an A!" I shout, coming into our apartment. "Really? I'm proud of you, Y/n." Kit runs to me, engulfing me into a hug.

"I knew you'd do great." He doesn't let me go, only holding me closer to him.

"I wouldn't have, if it wasn't for you."
