Percy
I have to sit through three more classes, English, Spanish, and science, before the bell for dismissal rings. There were rumours going around that there are police out back. So, naturally, I'm now following Scott and his group outside, towards the buses. And sure enough, there are police officers surrounding one of them, Stiles' dad included.
I only catch a few words of what the policemen are saying, but I'm able to piece it together real quick.
So basically there's a bomb. On the bus. And some idiot kid decided to pick it up.
Just great.
They've called in the bomb squad, but an officer - who's name I soon learn to be Perish - served in Afghanistan for a bit, and coincidentally he's been trained to defuse bombs. We watch as the officer goes on the bus in his equipment, and no one says a word as he kneels next to the boy with the gift box bomb on his lap.
To be honest, I think we're all going to die.
But when Perish opens the box, I see his shoulders relax, and the kid begins to cry. The officer stands up, picking up what was in the box and walking to the front of the bus, pressing what looks to be a name tag to the front windshield.
Sheriff Stilinski swears.
Scott and Stiles immediately know what has happened. Me? Not so much.
Scott and Stiles turn, running back to the blue jeep Stiles drove to school. And me being me, I run after them. "Guys." I shout, catching up to them in no time. "What's going on?"
"The bomb is at the Sheriff's station. Not the bus." Stiles hops in the driver's seat, Scott in the passengers, and I climb in the back.
We reach the Sheriff's station in no time, thanks to Stiles' speeding. The place is a mess to say the least. Of course it is, a bomb just went off. We run inside, there are officers on the floor, bloody, some are slumped against tables, and I see a man with shards of glass sticking out of his back. I begin to wonder how he isn't dead or at least unconscious, but then I remember that this is no normal town.
"Percy. Can you help?" I look back at Scott, he is kneeling beside an officer, trying to take his pain. Something tells me that what he's doing isn't a good idea. But I get down at his side.
"I need water." I tell him, looking around. And then I spot a water fountain. Desperate, I begin to pull it towards me, but I may have rushed it a bit. It comes shooting out of the cracks in the walls, from the drains in the floor, all of it flying towards me. It wraps around my fingertips, like a clear snake. I stand, looking around the room to find anyone who needs to be healed. Scott is going from person to person, taking their pain, preparing them for what I'm about to do.
I will the water in the direction of the injured, it looks like ropes tying me to them. And then I start to heal them. Most of their injuries aren't sever, and the ones with only a few cuts and bruises sit up, no longer wounded or in pain. But the one's on the breach of death take a bit longer.
In a few minutes, everyone is on their feet. All except one.
I had begun to heal him, but he had died before I could finish the job. I had saved so many people, but this one that lay in front of me, bloody and unmoving, he made my chest tighten up.
Most of the people in the room are staring at me.
But only the ones that the mist didn't block out.
I survey the faces staring at me in amazement. Almost half the room. And I instantly know who are monsters and who are mortal. The mortals are confused, looking around as if they don't know what had happened. Which they don't.
Again, I feel Stiles' eyes on me.
And Kira bursts through the door.
"The Oni." She breathes. "They're coming."
