(Loosely based off of the "Really Small Problems" episode, -Season 1, Episode 14- but not enough to spoil anything. Yes, I know he shouldn't have Flapjack yet, but I love the bird too much to wait and this entire book will be out of order. So sue me. 🙄)
(Also, this goes barely anywhere and has a lot of plain dialogue, but the next chapter should be interesting. Maybe. Hopefully.)
(Also tysm to the ppl who've viewed this and commented, means a lot and gives me motivation. If I use any of my viewer's suggestions, I'll make sure to credit them before the chapter I use the suggestion in.)
(Tysm, happy reading ^^)
You and the Golden Guard ran to the halls, investigating the crash you'd just heard. "UGH GETAWAY YOU PESTS!" Kikimora was (attempting to try) swatting and kicking away the palisman, knocking over lamps and vases as she went along. "I am so sorry, miss! Let me help you!" You ran over, shooing away the palisman back to your room. You helped the poor Biped Demon up off the floor as the GG slipped on his mask with an audible scoff, leaning against the wall.
"What type of Coven Administrator is trusted with Emperors work but can't handle two amature palisman?" He mocked Kiki from under his mask. You hit him on the back of the head. "It won't happen again Miss, sorry they must've caught you off guard. Shall I call in cleaning?" You nodded towards the vase that had fallen. "It's alright, I can do it myself thank you. You're dismissed back to your room."
"Of course." You almost stepped back into your room when you felt an arm grip your wrist, dragging you back out, much to your surprise (and Kikimora's). Hunter would've been fine to go back right now he would've preferred it. But he wouldn't take orders that were not officially given by a superior, and especially not by the small demon he so despised.
"Actually, she's primarily under my command more than any other's as of the new promotion, and I believe we are going to stay out and patrol... if that's to your liking Miss Kiki." He asked passive-aggressively, a fake sincerity glaring through to poke at her further. "Actually I said to go to" She interrupted, trying to keep orders in her way, frustration evident in her voice.
"Great, we'll see you at reports later, bye~" He cut her off, using the same tone as before. You were about to apologize, but you got dragged down the hall instead. "Wow, my first day on the job and I'm already making enemies," You sighed. "Well, I'm your boss, and she gets on my nerves." He scoffed. "Yea, yea, I can walk ya know." You rolled your eyes.
"Oh, yeah, sorry I was just-" He looked away, but didn't retract his hand.
"If ya wanted to hold my hand you could've just asked Goldie." You teased, cutting him off mid-sentence.
"Of course," He played along, adapting much easier than you'd previously expected.
A pale, faint blush dusted over the center of your cheeks as you attempted to find something to say back. "I win." Hunter snickered, a shit-eating grin plastered over his face. "Whatever." You scoffed playfully, obnoxiously swinging your interlocked hands.
"You're acting like a 6-year-old. A literal 6-year-old." He looked at your hands, tensing his forearm to stop the motion.
"You're no fun." You frowned. "Also, will I ever get to get into my scouts uniform or...?" You trailed off, noticing you were getting further and further from your room. "No, we'll both be in casual clothing today. We're patrolling the carnival. The Emperor decided your first day should be relatively easy."
"Ou~ is it the one in the middle of Bonesborough?" You asked, hoping the shops near there would be open.
"Yes, I believe so."
"I love the shops there! We should stop by the stores on Cypher Street!"
"After. We've got a simple job to do and I'm not going to let you mess it up your first day."
"Wow, have some faith in me Sirus!"
"Sirus?"
"I don't know your name, so I'm just guessing! Was I close?"
"Not at all." He laughed. You turned the corner and immediately bumped into something. Someone. "Oh my goodness. I'm sorry Raine! Also, did you hear about my promotion? I did it!" You picked up the bag they were carrying and handed it back to them. "Yes, I knew you could do it, but I'm impressed nonetheless." They smiled, ruffling your hair a bit. Your family had always expected more and more of you, rarely offering any validation, so when you initially joined the coven, Raine had always congratulated you when they saw you in the library.
"By the way, I heard the Emperor had wanted to see the two of you before your mission, you should get to it." They smiled, waving as they walked away.
"K! See ya." You turned back to the blonde and went off down a separate wing of the hall, going to the Throne Room. Hunter knocked before getting confirmation to head in, whilst you sat outside the door. Although his work was good and helped the people (or so you thought) he scared you. Most authority members scared you actually, which was a difficult way to live with such a job.
Once the Golden Guard had come back, he had two pouches, clinking together as they were held by the stings in his grasp. "What's that, Jadis?" You asked, taking another guess at his name. "I didn't think you could get worse at guessing, but that's even further away from my name that the first guess if that's possible. Also, they're snails. 200 each to spend while we're out."
"Really? Now you have to let me go to the store, Alexius." You smiled.
"Please stop guessing, this is just sad."
--15 Minutes Later, Hunter is getting changed into casual clothing in his bathroom, you're sitting on his bed and waiting.--
"Wow, Martin. Your room is so... sad." You looked at the grey comforter and white walls. The room had no color except for a blue paper on the desk. "I told you to stop guessing." He yelled from the bathroom. You heard the sink shut off. Just then, your Penstagram appeared.

You and Raine had made up a secret code for your messages since your Mother used to go through your phone and delete all conversations she considered a "Distraction to your work and studies". It was just the alphabet backward, but you'd convinced your Mother it was a code used to keep Coven business secret.
"Whatcha doing?" Hunter leaned over your shoulder, peering at the electronic scroll.
"AH!" You jolted, hitting your head on the wall next to you.
"Were you stalking my messages?" You questioned, sitting up.
"Yup. What's with the random letters." He asked shamelessly.
"None of your business, Paxton." You shoved him lightly, laughing.
"Well, what's it say?" He inquired.
"You're awfully nosey. It was just Raine asking about some stuff regarding my promotion." You joked.
"Now quit being a stalker and cmon, Dylan."
"Hunter." He sighed.
"What?"
"My name is Hunter."
