A/n: I'm so sorry to those who saw this and it was only like 400 words, it didn't save the rest lmao I got so scared it was gone, thank god there's a 'restore writing' feature I thought I'd gone insane
Y/n Pov: (Basically the same story from her perspective)
I woke up today feeling refreshed and excited. My birthday was always quite bittersweet, but the sweet tended to outweigh the bitter. I got ready and put on a light coat of makeup, despite the fact that I wore a mask. But hey, can't blame me for wanting to feel cute!
I walked over to Hunter's room and the door swung open before I could finish knocking. Hunter was rushing out, and for good reason. He had 5 minutes to walk a 10 minute route to the meeting room. I jogged with him, excited for my happy birthday message. "Guess what day it is~" I smiled. "Meeting day," he proceeded to demand the files. I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't break in two whilst one half watched the other half get stepped on by a yeti and squashed into the snow.
I tried brushing it off, since maybe he was too busy not to be stressed. I sorted through the files, summarizing them on a sticky note in shaky handwriting as we ran. We made it there just in time, and said our goodbyes. Well, I said goodbye.
I was scheduled to go out with my mom, dad, and siblings for breakfast, so I got ready for that. I wore a simple outfit, semi-formal so my mother wouldn't consider me a complete disappointment. When I arrived at the restaurant, I sat down and began laughing along with my older siblings whilst my mom dragged on a conversation with our waiter about "locally sourced ingredients"
Everyone went around giving their order, however, at my turn, my mother ordered for me as if I was a child who didn't know what I wanted. I was planning on a birthday pancake, but instead smiled as I ate a single griffin egg with a glass of water. My mother had always been strict on meals, especially mine since she knew I wouldn't argue. Sometimes I wish I was more confident against her. As we all left, she stopped me and asked the others to begin their walk to the shops.
She sat me down and began on how proud she was of me. That's what she always says before bad news. "I have a business party, Hollis's parents want a contract for collaborative products. It's going to be lots of business partners there and it would be a bad look if our daughter didn't come." She explained. "Mom I have work. And I don't want to see Hollis, just invite Althena or Brex!" You asked, hoping she would just get one of your siblings to go.
"You know how they are!" She sighed. She couldn't make them do crap. "You can't be so immature as to ruin my opportunities because of some friendship drama with Hollis a few years back. You will go, and you will get along." Your mother demanded. "Can I at least bring a friend, or is it important that I talk to the scumbag." You practically growled. "As long as they behave themselves, happy birthday." She said, coldly standing up and handing me two invites with the date of the event and such on them.

I returned to the castle, already aggravated by my mother. It was a bit better though, since I'd stopped by the coffee shop to a special birthday surprise from the staff. I knocked on Hunter's door, hoping to see him to brighten the oh-so dreary start to my birthday. He wasn't there, so I went to the meeting hall to see if he was finishing up there, but saw him in the library as I passed. I walked in and approached him. I asked if we could hang out, and despite the lack of enthusiasm, I was excited to go out and at least do something fun. I got ready in cute clothes since I planned on taking lots of pictures, and I touched up my makeup and did my hair before grabbing my purse to head out. I went to the market a bit early, getting some not-fun things I needed before waiting at the place we'd decided to meet up at. I waited there, 5, 10, 30, 60 minutes. It would've been smarter to leave and save at least my dignity, but I kept hoping he would show up. In any fairy-tale, this is the part where he would rush up with a gift, apologizing with a normal excuse and we would laugh it off and have a great time.
This wasn't a fairy-tale. He didn't show up, there was no gift of a logical excuse.
And to add salt to my gaping wound, to pour acid on the already bleeding out half of a heart I still had left after this morning, I got the "pleasure" of seeing the people I least desired to see.
I saw Margo and Myles, followed by Zenni Rory and Kenji. They were all laughing and smiling with drinks and shopping bags. They were haing a great time, and if there wasn't still a giant ravine split by Hollis, causing a pit of awkwardness and betrayal, I might've gone over and talked to them. But instead I walked away back to the castle, head down in envy of the friends I might've still had if not for Hollis's twisted games.

I returned to the castle and saw Hunter, casually in the hallway as if he hadn't just stood me up on my birthday after agreeing to hang out. I assumed there to be a logical explanation for why he didn't come, perhaps busy, but he seemed to be happily reading an article on his Penstagram. Glad to know where I stand on his list of priorities, just below scrolling on the internet. I couldn't bare to look at him after being humiliated, so I took the alternate, longer route to my room so he would arrive to his before I got to mine.
That night, Raine knocked on my door. I opened it to see them with a gift and a card. I invited them in, and we sat down on my bed and talked for a bit, before opening my gift to reveal a camera (think a polaroid) so I wouldn't have to take all my pictures on my cracked camera which was a 50/50 it actually took the picture. I also opened their card, which contained a very sweet note, that reminded me of how I wish my interaction with my parents would've gone.
Dear Y/n,
Getting to watch you learn and grow in the coven has truly been a Titan's blessing. You're caring and sweet, and your magical capabilities far exceed most people I know. Please take care of yourself, especially today since it should be all about you! Your persistence is remarkable and you should thank yourself for such. Happy 15th birthday!
-Raine Whispers.
The letter made you tear up; you'd never received a letter that gave you such a feeling. It was validation you didn't know you needed, and support you wish you had. "Oh, I'm sorry is it that bad?" Raine tried wiping your eyes comfortingly. "No! It's great! Today's just been really shit and that's like, the nicest thing I've ever read, and I," You searched for the words to say, slumping onto the floor with tears smudging your mascara.
You told them about all that'd happened. About how you felt in the halls in the morning, about the breakfast with your mom, how Hunter ditched you, your old friends passing by, and how Hunter didn't even care that he'd missed it. You were a sobbing, hiccuping mess as you cried to them. Raine listened and comforted you, but before they could try and convince you that Hunter might not have done it on purpose, you'd fallen asleep.
(Sorry, no comfort from Hunter yet, y'all can suffer for a minute)
