You quickly scrambled out of the throne room. What in the world was that? The emperor you so cherished was leaking green goop, with a pile of broken palisman beside him. You walked in on him, hoping to return a few important files as you couldn't find Kikimora who was supposed to take them. As much as Belos creeped you out, you were honored to be in charge of delivering such important documents to him. You didn't know what they were, but you knew the information was crucial to the day of union. It amazed you to be part of such a project, dealing with an idea so powerful to involve the titan. But if you saw the titan right now you'd have to ask it what you'd just witnessed.

You hoped and prayed he didn't see you, it seemed as if all in the castle were busy apart from the hallway you were in, only adding to the sickness in your stomach. You knew Emperor Belos disapproved of such staffs, you were lucky to still have yours. However, the plague of curiousity flooded your mind. What was he doing? Were all these cherished spiritually connected animals being so brutally murdered at the hands of your leader?

You knocked this time before walking in, a mistake you'd made minutes ago. You heard a light sound, a roar similar to that of a beast demon. It sounded pained and muffled, enough to stain your dreams. You heard a confident conformation of your entry.

You walked in and wearily handed him the files. "Y/n, you would never betray the coven am I correct?" He asked in a condescending tone. "O-of course not! That would practically be betraying my morals! And-and the boiling aisles I would never sir!" You stammered. "Good, good, now I ask that you mustn't speak of what you saw. Can you do that for me like a good scout?" He asked, tilting your chin up towards his face. You nodded. "Good, you're dismissed." He let go of you. "And remember, others won't understand if you tell them, it's very important that this is our little secret." He stopped you in your tracks. You once again agreed and left.

You were conflicted, half of you was concerned about what it was. He was secretive about it and was destroying palisman that seemed to be used, belonging to people. The other half of you was excited. He knew your name! He trusted you with this secret! You were doing something important, right?

Something good, right?

Yes of course, he was the emperor, he speaks to titans for spell's sake! Surely you could just do this one thing for the good of others.

You thought that all week, but still the thought plagued in your head. There were only two people you really trusted enough to tell, Raine and Hunter. Raine was a no go, as they're always around some type of other covenant, and Hunter already had enough in his plate. He'd gone out for a big mission, of which was somehow so confidential, they refused to let you come. You were, of course, quite offended. How could they not think you're ready? Lilith had told you that they didn't want all their leading scouts out there, and although that was probably true, it still pained to be left behind. A part of you felt as though it was because you were younger.

They never thought you could do anything just because of your age.

You'd do anything to prove them otherwise, and luckily for you, they called for backup, giving you the perfect opportunity to prove it! You quickly got on your outfit and tried to head out, but you were stopped by Belos himself.

"Sweet Y/n, I'm sorry, but you mustn't go on this mission." He gave your shoulder a few comforting pats. "Emperor Belos, I assure you I can do it! You know I've trained harder than all the normal scouts that were sent out, I promise I've-" you tried and tried to explain but he still cut you off. "You're more than qualified, but no backup is needed, only cleanup. You're dismissed to your room, alright?" He said, and you knew it wasn't a question; it was an order. You nodded and thanked him and left. Some part of the way he'd said your name had thrown you off. There was a hint of mischief behind his tone that you wished you could ignore.

As hours passed you hadn't heard the knock at your door. You were supposed to play video games with Hunter tonight at 7, but as 9 o'clock approached you could tell it was hopeless.

He wasn't coming.

Seeing as how this had ended up last time, you took the initiative to just go to his room and see what he was doing that was more important than you.

He wasn't there.

So you left and checked the library, in every aisle and crevice and at each table. You scoured through all the halls in the castle you were allowed to (and a few you weren't). You checked in the offices, the training rooms, the nurses office and even peeked into the throne room. Belos was doing the thing with the palisman again. He seemed lightly mutated, his skin paler and his eyes more vibrant, but you knew you much be paranoid. You continued your search in the eating hall and near the scouts rooms and even in the courtyard.

He wasn't there.

When you returned to your room, you heard a shuffling noise inside, and you knew exactly who it was. Atleast you thought you did. It would be harsh to say you were disappointed to see Darius, you didn't dislike him, he was quite a good mentor once you warmed up to him, but there was no doubt you'd rather it be Hunter.

"Please give warning when you come into my room," You said, stepping in. "Please don't leave your door unlocked." He retaliated. Touché. "Do you need anything?" You changed the topic. "Nice setup, someone coming?" He did the same. He gestured to the chargers, music speakers, and snacks you had set out for game night. "Well someone was but I guess they aren't." You said, lightly embarrassed.

"Good, disconnect your speakers." He told you. "What, why-" you got cut off my gum just choosing to unplug them. "Okay what was that for?" You asked. "Someone could be listening through the microphone that uses the voice settings,"

"Okay what's up with Mr.Paranoid?" You laughed. "Lower your voice, let me ask, Hunter was supposed to come, right? That's why all this is here?" He asked. "Yeah.." "I know, have you seen him anywhere?" "No," "I know," He said once again, but this time you cut him off. "Stop asking me questions you already know the answer to!"

"Okay fine, Hunter is missing and Belos is trying to cover it up, but I know something else is happening." He whispered to you. "What? You're crazy, he's probably just coming back late, maybe he had a mission!" You retaliated to his statement, hoping it wasn't true. "Yeah, because you always send secret search parties for people when you know where they are," he scoffed. You did not appreciate the sarcasm.

"So where is he?" You asked. "We don't know," Darius looked you in the eyes with guilt. You couldn't look back at him.
