As you paced out of the ballroom, Hollis attempted to follow, however as if the Titan heard your pleas, a group of his friends started talking to him on the way out, blocking his exit. That was miracle number one. You didn't know where to go. If you went to the bathroom, Hollis would know where you were, but, where else was there? You saw the short hallway to the bathroom and in a quick decision, you turned on your heel and ran the other way. 4 turns later and you found yourself in a classroom. It was messy, with desks and racks of school play costumes. It had old whiteboards stacked in the corner, blocks from the kids classes, and more junk. It must've been a storage room now.You grabbed a tissue from the enormous stack of boxes, drying the tears from your eyes. It made you feel better, despite the fact that they were still falling even after you threw away the tissue. You ventured further into the room before you were slammed into a brick wall. The impact enough to leave bruises on your spine. "Who are y" the speaker was cut off suddenly. You winced as you opened your eyes and time seemed to stop. Miracle number two. The world that was crumbling around you silenced just for a moment, and your breathing stopped yet you let out the largest sigh of relief you'd ever breathe. If you were crying before, you were bawling now. Hunter let go of you, then immediately slammed back into you, hugging the life out of you. You hugged him back, your forehead resting on his chest and his chin resting on your head.
You tried so hard to explain through hiccups and tears but of course got no where. "And hol-Hollis- and we went to-to-to Grom out the-there and Belos sa-aid to go but you weren't there and the c-the cafe-" you sniffled along stopping after realizing that absolutely none of what you said was coherent. "I missed you."
You looked up at him, unsure of what to say. A million thoughts were running through your head and all of them begged you to say it back. Because you did, you did miss him. As much as you hated for yourself that you relied on him for so many things, you did, and you missed him. You tried to talk, but it just came out as a nod and an incoherent whisper, followed by you hugging him tighter just as he was going to end the embrace.
"What happened?" You asked after what felt like forever. "I ran away, uh, it's complicated.." He said, averting your gaze. "I've got time, I'm a runaway from date right now," you laughed. "Wait what?" He asked. "It's complicated." You copied him from earlier. "I've got time, you first." He smiled as he mimicked back.
Well you went missing, and everyone thought you'd been kidnapped. Belos didn't want me to know, and then when I confronted him he didn't want me on the search party. So I was mad, and then there was a note on my window basically telling me to go to the cafe. I thought, you know, I thought it was from-" he cut you of. "You thought it was me?" His voice softened. "I'm sorry I didn't try to reach out to you." He looked away again. "I'm sure you had your reasons. But as you probably know, it wasn't you. It was Hollis. And when I got there he said he knew where you were, but he'd only tell me if I went to Grom with him.." you could see him tense up more and more as it went on. "And you went?!" He asked, shocked and almost angry. "Well he was our only lead, and Belos thought it would be safest, so I listened. I mean, I wanted to find you, and if that meant a date with Hollis I guess I was going on a date with Hollis."
"I'm so sorry, you shouldn't have to do that for me," he seemed almost guilty. "You have all the rights to be upset at me, I know how much that must've hurt to do." He held your hand. "I would stare at you behind bruises and tears and forgive you every time, you're the best friend I've ever had." You leaned against the wall as you sat. "Same here, except you're the only best friend I've ever had.." Hunter said, sitting next to you. You both sat there for a moment, just staring up.
After a while you started again. "Well it was more than halfway through and Hollis kept showing me off to people and trying to touch me, but he wouldn't tell me where you were, so I ran out for some fresh air, and then I came in here." You finished off. If hunter was mad before he was pissed now. "It's fine, it's pretty much over now." You rolled your eyes. You could tell he didn't think it was fine.
"So, uhm, why'd you run?" You asked, switching the topic. You were curious however, it still stung to know he ran. To know he ran from you. As if he could read your thoughts he started. "Well I want you to know I didn't run from you. I ran from me. I found out Belos isn't actually my uncle. I'm a grimwalker. Belos made me as a copy paste to carry out his dirty work. He isn't who he says he is, he just wants control. I'm just one of his minions who he'll kill once he knows that I'm not loyal anymore. And then he'll clone me and start over." He said, voice unsteady as a tear fell down his cheek. "So I ran. I'm a monster y/n. I'm just a monster, that's what I was born to be and I'm scared that's what I'm going to die as." He looked at you apologetically. "Please don't hate me, I'm sorry, I don't want to be this. I want to be gentle and kind and help people. Even if I know that's not something I can do."
It hurt you to hear that. Because you knew he could do it and you knew he did. "Then who are you? The person made to be something awful or the person horrified by the awful thing you were made to be?" You finally came up with. It wasn't the most poetic response but you hoped the point got through.
"... I needed that. Thank you," he wiped his eyes as he stood to get a tissue. "So what are we going to do? Hollis is outside, he knows you're here, and the emperors coven is waiting for a result from me tonight saying where the hell you are." You said, reality sinking back in. The fantasy of finding Hunter still there, but the fog had now cleared to reveal the bigger situation. The world started crashing around again but at least now you weren't the only one standing in the middle of it all. Independence is useful but at the end of the day, having him there seemed to make it all feel a bit better. Him being there was really the only miracle you needed. Miracle number three.

Any chapter title ideas? Because girlies I'm running outSPOILER/SNEEK PEAK INCOMING —
So question: would you be mad if I gave Hollis half of a redemption arc? Like I could totally give it to someone else but he's in pretty deep. Who should I give my redemption arc to? I've got some quotes planned out already.
Touch some grass, eat some food (no girl dinner I'm talking real food), and drink plenty of water!!
