y/n's pov:
it's been a week since i've hung out with braydon, lexi, and jacob.
a week since i kissed jacob.
a week since i fell asleep in his arms.
a week since i coughed up blood and who knows what else.
a week since i got drugged.
a week since i went to that party.
but less than an hour since i've seen the guy that tried to rape me.after the night i spent with jacob, my parents picked me up and we went to the hospital to make sure everything looked alright.
they hooked me up to all sorts of machines and monitors and IVs.
i ended up being okay. i had some slight trauma to my head that they treated with pain meds but other than that, i felt fine. a couple days later, i opened up about the situation to a female police officer. someone at the party that lexi knew had a video of jacob beating up alex that they screenshotted and forwarded to the police station. since i was being defended, jacob faced no charges.
the police officers found alex and he was arrested for attempted rape and drug trafficking.
we went to court today.
jacob, lexi, and braydon sat in the public gallery along with their families and my own. i had never been so nervous. normally in times like these jacob would come help me relax but i wasn't allowed out of my chair and he wasn't allowed outside of the gallery.
i looked back in jacob's direction, fidgeting quickly with my hands. he was already staring at me, i think he could tell i was scared.
"hey, breathe." jacob mouthed as he inhaled a deep breath before holding it and exhaling.
i tried to copy his breathing as he continued to mouth words of encouragement. i couldn't focus on anything.
my heart began to race as i tried to catch my breath, which was making me gasp for air even more. i looked all around the court room, trying to find someone to help me but everyone was talking and i was too afraid to interrupt. i watched jacob raise his hand towards a security guard who was waiting at a door near him. he got up from his seat and walked over to the security guard.
i watched his every move. he pointed his finger and gestured towards me before facing forwards again to talk to the security guard. the judge stopped talking, looking over at the two interrupting her trial.
"may i help you two?" the judge folded her arms and glared at them.
"i-i.. um. excuse me." jacob cleared his throat politely. "your honor, ms. y/n is having a panic attack, and i was just-well.. i was just wondering if i could sit by her and help her calm down?" jacob's eyes were wide as he tried to explain himself to the judge. all the while i still remained gasping for air.
"and you are?" the judge questioned jacob.
"jacob. jacob day. i'm ms. y/n's friend." he looked back at me again, slightly nodding to tell me everything was going to be alright.
"ms. y/n, the court is willing to make an exception to the rules. would you like mr. day to join you?" the judge turned towards me, her face now relaxed and her manner calm.
i couldn't make out any words, so i just nodded as quickly as i could.
"someone bring her a water." the judge looked around the court room for someone to assist me.
jacob and another guy in a fitted suit walked towards me, the suited man with a bottle of water in his hand.
"here you are ms. y/n." the man spoke as he placed the bottle of water on the corner of the table in front of me.
"thank you, sir." jacob responded for me. he was now sitting in the wooden chair by my side.
"anytime." the man bowed his head down as he walked back to his position.
"court is resumed." the judge declared.
"hey hey hey, y/n what's wrong? shhh it's okay i'm here" jacob pulled my chair close to his. he grabbed my shoulders and turned me sideways to embrace me in his arms.
"i don't- what if..wh-why? how d-do..how-" my hands tightly grasped his shirt and i squeezed my eyes shut.
"heyyy it's okay i'm not going anywhere." he began to rock side to side.
"listen to my heart beat, focus. you feel it, yeah?" he reached for my hand and broke its fist with his gentle finger tips.
"i'm right here y/n. take your time." he rested his chin on the top of my head.
"c'mon darling i'm right here. deep breaths for me love." he leaned his head forward to kiss my forehead.
"i'm scared jacob. what if he doesn't go to jail? what if they think i'm lying? what if he comes back for me?" i sobbed as i rested my head on his chest and wiped my nose with the sleeve of my dress.
"love, nobody is going to touch you. as long as i'm here, nobody will ever lay their hands on you again, you hear me? ever. please don't cry y/n, i'm right here." jacob whispered his words through my hair as he rubbed up and down my lower back.
"let yourself relax okay?" he softly whispered again.
there was no other voice like jacob's. his voice was so deep, yet calm. he was never scary or mean to anyone. well...besides alex. listening to his voice was like swimming in a deep blue ocean. a whole new world swimming below you as you admire it's beauty. there was nothing that soothed me more than he did."that's it y/n. good darling. i'm not gonna leave you." my breathing finally settled down enough for me to speak up. i sighed deeply before looking up at jacob to mouth two simple words.
"thank you."
"no need to thank me. i would do this for you forever and ever y/n." he looked deeply into my eyes to express his seriousness.
i gave a weak smile and rested my head on his shoulder, his right arm wrapped around mine.i couldn't tell you about anything that happened in the rest of that court ceremony. none of it. i couldn't remember a single thing. all i remember was fidgeting with jacobs rings to keep myself calm.
"yes y/n! we did it!" i settled back into reality. at this point i was standing and jacob, braydon, lexi, my parents, and their parents were jumping up in down in front of me, pulling me into tight hugs and kissing my forehead.
i know they were trying to celebrate, but it didn't mean anything to me. i looked through their crowded bodies to see alex in handcuffs getting dragged out of the court room by two police men as he tried to resist them.
i couldn't help but feel bad. like i caused this. that maybe it was an accident. but deep down i knew that he was a selfish monster who went around manipulating young women, and that he got what he deserved.
as i stared into the distance, i felt a hand grasp my shoulder and spin me around.
"hey, let's get you out of here." jacob quietly spoke in my ear.
"yes please, i would like that." i stared up at him and smiled softly.
jacob took me by my hand and walked me out of the court building, waving goodbye to everyone and thanking them as we left. outside, we met lexi and braydon.
"congrats y/n. you fucking deserve this." braydon pulled me in tightly. i didn't know how to react so i stood still for a moment before hugging him back.
"thank you braydon. wouldn't have been able to do it without you guys." my eyes began to fill with tears.
"SLAYY YOU DID IT Y/N. YOU SHOWED THEM WHAT A BOSS ASS BITCH YOU ARE." lexi was jumping up and down as she pulled me in and kissed me on the cheek.
"only for my lover" i winked at her, kissing her back on her cheek.
"what do you say we go watch a movie at the theatre? i think IT is playing tonight." lexi asked, pointing her keys at her car to unlock it.
"i'd love to! i need that after today" i lightly chuckled, scratching the back of my neck.
"i'm down!" both braydon and jacob announced at the same time. they chuckled and pointed ay each other.
"JINX. YOU OWE ME A PEPSI." braydon rubbed in his face.
"yeah right." jacob rolled his eyes to turn back to the group.
"okay lover boys, let's go before you two make out." lexi scoffed.
