A Woman Problem

"The Media has a Woman Problem." according to a piece in the New York Times by Liza Mundy. In the article from Huffington post, titled, "Corporations, Especially Media and Tech Companies, Should Clearly Commit to Gender Equality and Get Gender Certified [1]," Soraya Chemaly discussed the topic led by Liza Mundy. She describes tech, Hollywood, religion, museums, book publishing, the GOP, and even governments as having "woman problems." Ms. Chemaly reported "a woman problem" as being a system that favors men over woman. And in the United States, white men over all. It is unfortunate to say this is the case. Woman are unequally given opportunities compared to the opposite gender.

The article from Huffington, "Corporations, Especially Media and Tech Companies, Should Clearly Commit to Gender Equality and Get Gender Certified" states that "Companies lack gender and racial diversity." It continues saying "Most companies are run by white men." In the United States, this is the truth we are seeing. When companies, as told by the article, talk about "doing diversity" they are not taking it seriously and use the term loosely. We can see no change in the media world.

However, some people do not believe gender diversity should take place. They believe that it does not matter. As long as work is done, and everyone gets paid, there is no problem. But again, this is what everyone is told on the outside. There is a more sexist reason on the inside. All throughout history, in the United States, white men have worked far longer than both woman and any other race. This creates the illusion that they have more "experience", though this is not the case. Many women now are fully capable of working the same job as men, but will still not receive the same salary.

As you can see, many corporations and companies are sexist and racist in their choosing of workers. They prefer white men over women and any other race. This affects us very much. What ever happened to human rights? As told in the article "Corporations, Especially Media and Tech Companies, Should Clearly Commit to Gender Equality and Get Gender Certified", there are many organizations arising to help commit to gender equality. You can take a stand, and help America be united, and have Gender Certified! Help us, and let us all be equal.
