NaLu

Hello one and all! I'm the newest author мιcнєℓℓє! Just so you all know, I am a very random person. So here is one of my random rants!

So today my topic is the shipping of "NaLu".

"NaLu" is the shipping name for two anime characters from the anime Fairy Tail, Natsu and Lucy. Now, I am not one of those people that say "NaLu is perfect!" or "NaLu for life!", rather I question the shipping. When I originally began watching Fairy Tail, here was my reaction to Natsu and Lucy:

Very beginning of the anime: "Oh, those two are going to be a couple... right?"

Edolas Arc: "WHAT?! No more NaLu! NaLi forever!" 

At the end of the Edolas Arc: "Meh... I'm going back to NaLu."

As you can see, I was a very "on and off" kind of person. As the series progressed on, my feelings for "NaLu" began to decrease. The two didn't seem good together anymore. They had lost their momentum.

New couples began arising that had caught my attention like "Jerza" or "GaLe". These couples had their own moments that didn't seem to forced.
Gajeel had hurt Levy, so now he wanted to protect her. [During the Tenrou Arc]
Erza cried when Jellal had given himself up to the Council. This all made sense. [Nirvana Arc]
Why? Gajeel was dedicated to being a Fairy Tail member, and one of the first rules were to protect your comrades. So what did he do? He protected Levy.
Erza had gone through the pain watching Jellal turn evil, so when he had come back to his senses, he had given himself up. She knew Jellal from her childhood, she had grown feelings for him. Wouldn't you cry too?

Now back to the point. "NaLu" didn't have this kind of effect on me. Their movements seemed too forced. For some reason, in every battle, all Natsu ever thought about was protecting Lucy. It was always the same thing, protect Lucy. The anime itself is amazing as a whole, but those two... they're just wrong. Absolutely wrong. Too many events centered around them, especially in the Grand Magic Games Arc.

[Do not read from here to the second last paragraph below if you have not watched the 2014 series] Natsu had to be tied up to not go to Lucy's rescue from the Kingdom! Seriously, chill out a bit. If Lisanna was caught he wouldn't do the same thing. When she was supposedly "dead", he just gave up and accepted it! [I am not shipping NaLi either. This is just an example to prove a point.] So why won't he just "accept it" with Lucy?! Of course, Natsu is not the kind to stop and think about what to do. But neither is Gray or Erza sometimes! But what would make more sense is the guild gathering around in a circle discussing what to do while Natsu is yelling something about wanting to beat someone up in the background. That would please everyone!

And then when Lucy sits on Natsu by "accident". If it was such an accident, then why didn't she just get off of him?! Instead, she sat on him while stuttering for a minute! That is not what Lucy usually does! And you can't say it was because of being embarrassed. In episode 1, she tried to pull over a store owner to give her keys on a discount with her "charms". And you can't say she changed. She did it multiple times after that and still does it now! Just wearing such small pieces of clothing that barely cover herself is an offense!

Now, bear in mind I do not hate Lucy. She is a wonderful character, and if she was real I would love her to bits [As a friend!]. And of course who wouldn't love that fire-breathing idiot? But all this talk about "NaLu" being the best couple is getting at my nerves. Their actions are becoming too forced.

Why was Natsu the only [human] one to step out and greet Future Lucy in the grassfields? The rest of the guild may have been standing in the background but it wasn't the same. Random catchphrases didn't spurt out of the crowd. They had just stood there, in their fixed positions, silent. If they had talked, then I would have accepted it. But no, they didn't. 

-Spoiler- [Don't read this paragraph if you aren't updated with the manga!] And when Igneel returns, the manga chapter should have been all about Natsu, the other dragon slayers, Igneel, and the other dragons. But no. Lucy was in half the pages saying, "Is this real...?" or "Huh?" If Juvia was also in there questioning the events, I would accept this. But no, Juvia was not seen talking but she was at the event. Seriously?! Natsu's crying and Lucy is just saying, "Huh?" Really?! I understand that there is a possible chance for Lucy to be connected to the dragons, but just stop! The chapter was supposed to be about the return of the dragons and the dragon slayer's reactions! But no!! Half of the pages were just Lucy saying dumb remarks!!

But then again, there were the good NaLu events. Like when Natsu cried over dead Future Lucy's body. That was understandable. He had gone through one of is friends dying, and he was going over the same experience all over again. But this time he saw his friend die right in front of him!

So yeah... "NaLu". It is a good shipping, but I am not the person to ship it. I don't like and ships with Natsu, really. NaLi just doesn't have enough events. Natsu x Erza is just wrong. Erza likes Jellal which is obvious, and other than the Tower Arc, there have been no Natsu x Erza events. And I just don't think Natsu x Gray is happening... sorry guys. I don't think there are any more ships with Natsu, I could be wrong though. I heard there was one with Wendy and Natsu, but that is definitely wrong!!
