A little too late (A Pete angst Story)

Chapter 16

Pete POV

We pull up to the fancy-looking electronic store and Brandon looks at me smiling. He tells me to rush out and follow him inside so I do and when we get inside I pause to take everything in. It is more like a parts store, with every electronic part you can think of. 

"What exactly are we getting here?"

"Well, Wynter knows you are working really hard on twitch and trying to make your gaming videos, vlogs and everything better so she wanted me to take you here to get you a sony camera of your choice and to help you create your dream gaming room. New gaming chair, new gamer headphones, and a PC & computer system made from scratch with all the fixings you could ever dream for"

I stare at him in disbelief waiting for him to say just kidding but he never does. It might be a dumb question but I just had to ask.

"Are you serious? I get to get all the things I want for my new gaming room?"

" Yep, she didn't know what all you would need but sent me more than enough for you to be able to get it all. I can already see the conflicting feelings in your eyes but let's get everything and then we can cry in the Uhaul"

So we go through and get the easiest things first like the headphones and gaming chair. I found a really great set of headphones that fit comfortably on my ears with amazing cancellation ability. Brandon helped me pick out what had to be the most comfortable gaming chair I have ever sat in since I have been born. We then looked around for a great sony brand camera and we called Danny for a little assistance since he knows more about quality and recording. Lastly, we went to talk to one of the workers to start creating the computer system. I never knew how many parts went to a system but the guy was very nice and helped me pick the best quality pieces to create a perfect PC for gaming. It literally took hours to map this out and then the lady in the back had to put it all together so we waited in some of the gaming chairs while she worked.

"Oh, I almost forgot to give you her last gift"

He hands me a flash drive with a letter.

"What is it?"

"Since it was yours I didn't read it, I didn't check the flash drive either"

I open the letter and start to read it out loud.

Hi Pete, 

If you are reading this then Brandon helped me fulfill one of my last wishes which was giving you this flash drive. On here is a file for every emotion and occasion I could ever think of you possibly going through, some of them I hope you never have to watch but since I am not there to comfort and protect you from these things I hope the videos will be enough. Please stay close and hold on to your friends, they are amazing and care about you so much. So long friend, maybe we'll meet in the next life.

"She listed what all of the videos are for. Happy, excited, nervous, upset, depressed, before I get married, before I have my first kid, if I ever get heartbroken, if I ever lose a friend, congrats on my success, memories to make me smile, and so on"

"She put a lot of thought into this"

"Yeah, so how long was she planning on leaving? It sounds like at least since her 21st birthday from my letter but there's no way she created and planned all this in five months."

"Some answers I think are better left unknown. I know for sure that you are not the reason she is gone. She wanted that to be clear that you and all of us were the reason she was here this long although it does not seem long at all to us"

"I guess you're right"

Brandon starts flirting and cracking jokes to cheer me up and before I know it the lady is coming to us and having us come back to see the system. She explains how everything works and all the features it has. She gives us the warranty and takes it to the front to check out. We finally check out all my stuff and it is packaged safely so nothing breaks and packed into the Uhaul. We head home listening to some of our favorite music and trying to make the most of everything. He helps me bring everything into the house and then he has to head off due to other engagements but he promises to come back soon. I hug him and wait for Danny to come by, he texted me earlier that he should be by in about half an hour. He was stopping to buy us food because he is staying the night. I lay on the couch waiting and the next thing I know I'm being shaken awake by Danny.

"Hey, how did you get in? I don't even remember going to sleep"

"Hello, I used your hidden spare key. I was knocking but you weren't answering so I called Brandon to see if you two were still together and he said he dropped you off. I became a bit worried with everything going on so I came inside looking for you. I'm glad you were just sleeping"

I sit up and rub my eyes to fully wake up and Danny sits by me.

"Do you have to give me her gifts?"

"Huh?"

"If you don't give me her gifts then I can pretend that this isn't real. She only wanted everyone to be happy and if I am not happy then she will come back"

"Pete"

"She has to come back. I took her for granted and I kind of left her by herself for the past couple of years but she knew I cared about her so why did she leave? I would rather us argue and fight than her up and leave me forever. I did care about her although I wasn't great at showing it, that's where you came in. You were there when I couldn't so bring her back so I can apologize. Bring her back...please"
