TRAPPED.
1774, NOVEMBER 28th, MONDAY 7:01 am.
Noche hit the floor with a thud. Followed by three others falling on top of her as the rest of her band hit the floor. One by one they stood at the very bottom of DeathTech.
Noche groaned as she rose. "Where are we?"
"The final floor," Boots said. "Edwards throne room... Or rather it's antechamber."
It was a dark room, dimly lit by blinking yellow lights on the floor. An inch above them was yellow and black caution tape that lined the baseboards of the adjacent walls. The floor here was different, it was riveted metal instead of concrete tile. At the far end of the room were two iron-wrought doors.
"Shit this is bad, this is real bad." Boots muttered. "This may even be worse than the time I had to kill my best friend, Oscar."
"What bruh?"
Boots shook his head. "I was six years old... It was the surface scout culling. Edward would only accept one of us."
"Watch out!" Tak shouted.
The group turned to a DeathTech soldier — weapons were drawn. Silence filled the room for a few heartbeats before anyone spoke.
"It's not moving," Shaylin whispered.
"Should we go check it out?" Mary asked.
Alice put her hand on Mary's shoulder and shook her head.
"I didn't mean me bruh."
"Well I'm not getting close to another flesh-fusing fucker," Noche scowled.
Multiple heads turned towards Tak. The immortal put on a wavering smile as he shrank into his scarf.
"I-I'll go," he muttered.
With a few timid steps, Tak stood before the motionless entity. He leaned down and inspected it. Prismatic energy gathered in his open palm. An icicle was created and was used to poke the creature. It didn't react.
"I-I think it's... dead?"
"Uhh, guys."
The group turned to Noche, whose head was locked on a different section of the room. A pile of DeathTech soldiers were stacked in the corner.
"What the bumbakla?"
"There's dozens of them," Jack muttered.
Shaylin gulped and approached the one next to Tak. She pressed some buttons on her arm and a green holographic light shone out of her palm. It scanned the motionless soldier and a few seconds later it turned off. Shaylin's face tightened up and her brows furrowed.
"Mary, can you come here?" She asked.
"Sure, what's up bruh?"
The ginger tapped on her keyboard a few times and a small, holographic screen appeared. On it was Xray of the soldier with various bits of text.
"I wanted someone more familiar with medicine to make sure I wasn't reading this wrong."
Mary leaned in and looked at the data.
"That... That can't be right."
"What?" Noche shouted.
Mary and Shaylin looked at each other before turning to the blonde.
