VIDA'S FIGHT.
1774, NOVEMBER 28th, MONDAY 6:35 am.
Vida stretched from side to side. She bent down and touched her toes as cosmic black dripped from the ceiling. The universe-themed paint encased the boundless white. It cascaded over the now shut cathedral door and soon the entire room was a black void full of stars and galaxies.
Flickering motes of light were suspended underneath Vida's feet – yet she stood on an invisible floor. Asteroids roiled past the duo as nebulas spun in the distance.
"Welcome to where my power manifests. My own pocket dimension," Albatross said. "Unlimited power is too much for any mortal body to bear. All the extra power I cannot contain is stored in this tiny universe."
"It's quite the sight," Vida stated.
The bird of death chuckled.
"Here you do not have to fret about destroying our home planet," he said. "In this demi-plane, you can go all out."
The twelve-foot-tall giant got into a fighting stance.
"Are you ready?"
Vida's grin expanded into something inhumane.
"I've been waiting since the day my eyes became flames."
Albatross's smile was no less wicked than the blind girl's.
"Time to die," she said.
Both vanished – an explosion larger than a nuke occurred in the middle of where they stood. As the flames died out Vida and Albatross stood against each other with locked hands. The giant's knee slammed into her torso, her leg extended upwards in a splits kick and slammed into his chin, his head came crashing down on her own.
Albatross moved his grip from Vida's hands to her forearms. He spun and tossed her aside, in midair she pulled out Ouroboros, assembled the wheel with flames, and threw. The bird of Death caught the flaming wheel, but he did not block the pillar of fire that rose from below.
He was encompassed by a beam of flame the size of a skyscraper – Ouroboros flew out of the inferno and towards Vida. She dodged with a cartwheel, extended her hand towards the wheel, and a plume of fire propelled it back into her arms.
The blazing column exploded, and Albatross stood there unarmed. In his hand was a weapon. A staff, but smaller versions of Ouroboros floated at its end. Inside each joint of those tiny Ouroboros was another, significantly smaller, Ouroboros, and inside those was a minuscule copy. This repetitive process seemed infinite; at least as far as her senses could extend.
Albatross appeared before her in an instant – she blocked his weapon with her wheel. Her arms buckled under the blow and the blind girl's brows rose. His attacks were getting stronger. Much stronger. She dodged each blow instead of blocking, but the giant moved at unfathomable speeds and she was avoiding them by a hair's breadth each time.
An opening presented itself. Vida jumped back and her ears lingered in the giant's direction. Albatross grinned as she stayed cautious.
"So you discovered how my V.I.P. works?" he said.
"Each hit doubles in power," she said.
The giant laughed.
"Correct, my ability is omnipotent power. My limit is I can't use it all at once," he said. "Each time I land an attack, the damage is doubled on my next strike."
