Volume 1 - Chapter 11: End of the Beginning

Border of Romadia, few kilometres away from Qwardon

It has been two days since Operation Kyndill. Ever since the death of the Romadian Emperor, the current state within Romadia have been worsening day by day.

First of all, many lords within the Empire broke away, forming their own warlord states. Some banded together to form the new Confederation of South Reridia while some stayed neutral. Everything is not that peaceful, as several warlord states battled eachother for power. The old Romadian Empire, after having its territory reduced, now only controlled its capital and some nearby provinces.

Back to the current situation on the border, the Chirunans and Marinseans has sent representatives of their own to negotiate with what's left of the Romadian government, which they agreed to negotiate as there were no other choice. The main reason for the meeting was to make a treaty to officially end the Romadian-Marinsean War.

The Romadian representatives have finally arrived at the meeting which consisted of the Romadian minister of foreign affairs, his aides and several Romadian generals. The meeting area contained multiple tents but the largest one will be the meeting room.

And thus, the meeting had begun.

The discussions went back and forth, talking about the borders, war reparations and what to do with the warlord states. After 3 days, the meeting ended and a treaty was made, the Treaty of Qwardon. It was named as such due to the town's proximity to the meeting.

The details of the treaty are as follows;

- The Romadian Empire, from now on will be called the Kingdom of Romadia, shall pay 10,000 Miree (the currency of Romadia, which totals to around $100,000) every month for 3 years to the Kingdom of Marinse as war reparations. The new kingdom would be led by the Emperor's son, Prince Henderson but with much less power. Majority of the power would be from the newly formed Council of Karhsan.

- Romadia would only keep 50,000 footmen in their army, no wyverns and 50 ships only.

- The Confederation of South Reridia will be changed to the Unified Provinces of Southern Reridia. They will be tasked to keep the Romadians at bay and also maintaining peace in the region.

- Formation of the "League of Reridia", which contains Marinse, Chiruna, Romadia, the Unified Provinces and the rest of the independent warlord states who doesn't want to join the Unified Provinces. The aim of the alliance was to promote cooperation between the Reridian nations and maintain peace in the continent.

- Chiruna shall aide the newly independent warlord nations with Chirunan representatives that will give guide them to govern better.

And there were many more decisions made in the treaty but the ones listed were the major ones.

With this treaty, thus ended the war in the continent. After this, the Chirunans planned on making contact with the nearest continent to Reridia, Omniris.

Lamoria, Parsinian Empire

The Parsinian Empire, the only superpower of the Omniris Continent. Their philosophy is peace through war, as they see war is necessary to achieve peace. The Empire has conquered almost half of the continent and many islands nearby, placing it's spot as the fourth most powerful nation in the world.

It recently sent help to Romadia in exchange for them to conquer the Reridian Continent. They had high hopes for this barbarian nation as they were given equipments from Parsinia itself, and their plan towards Romadia after the conquest of Reridia is to invade them when they've spent their manpower on conquering the continent.

However, things didn't go as planned as a tiny nation interrupted their plans. The Republic of Chiruna, a newcomer in the area, just recently won the war against Romadia.

And as such, a conference was held to determine what kind of nation is this Chiruna.

In the capital city of Lamoria, there were buildings equivalent to the ones built by the French back in the Napoleon-era. The night sky was full of beautiful stars and the surroundings were calm and quiet.

In the Marble Palace, a government building which houses the Emperor itself, a conference was held in a room, the topic was about the nation Republic of Chiruna.

"It seems that everyone is here. We shall start the conference", said a man in royal clothing and a magnificent crown. He's the current emperor of Parsinia, Emperor Gaultier III.

"The current topic for this conference will be about a new nation who we haven't even heard of before, the Republic of Chiruna. Does anyone have anything to say regarding the topic?", ask Gaultier.

"Your majesty, I do."

"Speak, Minister Thevenin", said Gaultier at the man. The man who offered to speak was Thevenin Auger, the Head Chief of Foreign Relations of Reridia.

"Ahem. I received some information from my subordinates regarding this Chiruna, though some of them might sound like its from a fairytale. Do you mind, your majesty?"

"No, continue on with your speech."

"Alright. So the information I got is that the Chirunans are a tiny nation which have established relations with the Kingdom of Marinse, Romadia's rival. Following the Romadian-Marinsean War, Chiruna declared war on Romadia in respect to their relations with Marinse.

The most surprising fact is that the war ended in only 4 days, with the victory belonging to the Chiruna and Marinse. Reports from my subordinates who had risked their lives for the greater good in order to obtain information said that the Chirunans had used "steel wyverns that could fly faster than anything and shoot light arrows that follows it's targets". They also added that their navy, which fought in a battle against 1,700 Romadian ships and won with only 10 ships, has steel ships with fast-firing accurate cannons and also has similar light arrows to the steel wyverns but stronger. Their ground forces also decimated the first assault on Qwardon with steel behemoths and soldiers wielding magic staves that spew out light pellets.

To summarize these reports, the Chirunans is a tiny nation with a strong yet strange military. My suggestion to deal with them is to be friendly with them and gain information from their military equipments and possibly reverse engineer some of it as well. That concludes my speech."

As Thevenin sat down on his seat, the conference went noisy with people discussing the things said in the speech earlier. Many were skeptical at Chiruna being that strong, thinking they were supported by superpowers of the First World.

"Silence!", yelled Gaultier. "Thank you for your report, Minister Thevenin. Although the reports seems very unrealistic, it does give us some information on what this Chiruna is. Although I hate to take a friendly stance on this nation, we have no other choice but to do it in order to gain more information on them. Anyone else has anything to speak?", asked Gaultier.

The conference went on for another two hours and ended with a decision from the Emperor himself.

Which is to let the Chirunans approach them, establish good relations and gain information from them in order to use it to Parsinian's advantage.

This would start a minor cold war in the Third World area between Parsinian Empire and its imperial colonies, and Chiruna and its allies.

A/N: sorry for the slow update, had a bit of an issue. this chapter would mark the end of Volume 1. the next volume will be about the cold war between Parsinia and Chiruna (spoiler alert: it wasn't that cold.)
