The Vet Assistant

Chapter 3

Calista parked her Dodge Journey and got out with a soft smile on her lips. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail then pulled her Heavy Metal Broke My Heart shirt off tossing it into her Journey revealing a black tank top underneath.

"Calista!" She turned to see an older woman smiling as she approached her.

"Miss March," Calista smiled as she hugged the woman. "Were they behaving today?"

"Of course," Miss March smiled, "they are absolutely wonderful for me."

"Thank you again for watching them for me while I go to school," Calista smiled. "I really appreciate it." She seemed completely oblivious of the man in the distance watching her filled with curiosity. He was close enough to hear the conversation but far away enough that he wasn't on her radar.

"Of course," Miss March beamed, "Are you ready for your babies?"

"Of course," Calista beamed as the man took a picture of her smile then switched to video as Miss March headed back to the building while Calista bounced excitedly. "Hi My Babies!" She beamed as two Chinese Shar Peis and a small German Shepard mix came barreling toward her. One Shar Pei was white with brown spots and one was solid black. They had deep barks of excitement as they raced to her and began licking her face as she knelt to hug them. The white one had his full butt wiggling in excitement while the solid black one was wagging his tail. The German Shepard wiggled her way into the mix barking high pitched. "Oh Zeus and Hades, let me see your sissy. Hi, my Sweet Amaya, I have missed you so much my puppers!" Calista laughed as they knocked her down in so much excitement.

(These are my actual dogs, Zeus & Hades are Chinese Shar Peis and Amaya is half German Shepard and half Blue Heeler. Amaya is 10 months and Zeus and Hades are 7 months)

"Ok My Sweets, let's go inside so I can play with all your friends," Calista beamed as she got up. "I'm so glad you were good today. Come on, let's go," She took off running giggling as they followed her.

The man turned off the video and sent it before approaching closer. He got comfortable in the tree and began his watch. He would occasionally take pictures as she would care for the dogs in the veterinary hospital/boarding place/adoption center. He sat up when he saw her walk a Saint Bernard out with his humans and she was signing to them. He forced back a chuckle as another couple walked up as she waved at the Saint Bernard sticking his head out. They were talking to her in another language but he couldn't tell for sure from the distance but she seemed to understand what was being said as they walked back in talking.

It was 8pm by the time they closed and he sat up to see better since it was starting to get dark.
"Now Calista, go home and try and get some sleep," Miss March called as Calista emerged with her three dogs following. "And take care of those hands!"

"Yes Ma'am," Calista smiled as the dogs followed right by her side obediently without leashes even though they had harnesses on. She carried the leashes in her hand. Once they got to the car though they got excited and started jumping up on her. "Um excuse me?" She asked them putting her hands on her hips sternly. "Is that how you are supposed to act?" The man chuckled recording the incident as the three dogs sat down with their tails still wiggling. "Now Zeusy you sat in the front on the way to work so it is Amaya's turn in the front. Hades will sit in the front in the morning, understood?" They barked and she smiled, "All right, since you were such good puppers, you can have your snack early. I brought the homemade chicken jerky I made for you." She reached into the journey and pulled out a large baggie. "Now who's Mommy's good puppers?" They all barked while remaining sitting, she pulled out a piece for each of them and the man watched as they gently took it from her. She opened the car and they hopped into their spots, laid down then started eating their snack while she shut the doors then got in and buckled up. He opened down from the tree and rushed to his car while also sending the video.

He pulled out his phone and hit a number then chuckled, "I figured out who our new neighbor is that's two houses down from us."

"Are you fucking serious?" The man with orange shirt's voice came through the speakers. "That's fucking great, man. That's awesome."

"I'll be home in just a sec. Did the videos come through?"

"Yeah, we are just waiting on you to fucking get home so we can watch them," He said chuckling, "hurry the fuck up."
