The Vet Assistant

Chapter 48

"I am so proud of you!" Miss March beamed as she looked at Calista's diploma showing that she was no longer a vet assistant and now a registered veterinarian. "So proud."

"Thank you," Calista smiled as she hugged Miss March. "I just had to show you."

"As soon as you are ready, you have a spot here," Miss March said beaming, "Now go show your husbands. They are going to be so excited."

"I will," She smiled as she hugged the motherly figure and got in her car. She pulled up to the mansion and took a deep breath.

"Hey, you're home early," Luke beamed as she walked into the living room. "I was just about to leave to come get you."

"We got out early," She said nervously.

"What wrong, Kitten?" Raven asked worriedly.

"Something happened today," She bit her bottom lip and ran her fingers over the manilla envelope in her hand. "It's going to change a lot of things."

"What is it?" Owen asked.

"I..." She looked down at her feet and opened the envelope pulling out a piece of paper. "I am now officially a veterinarian."

"Congratulations!" Luke beamed as he picked her up and swung her around making her giggle. "So proud of you, Cupcake!"

"We knew you could do it, Baby," North smiled as he hugged her.

Amaya, Zeus, Hades, and Max barked excitedly around them as the rest of them hugged and congratulated her.

"I've got the perfect fucking frame for this," Gabe said as he looked at the certificate. "Fucking Dr. Calista Ravenstahl. Love it."

"Me too," Calista smiled as she laid her head on Raven's chest. "Thank you."

"For what?" They asked confused.

"Allowing me to do this, supporting me through it," She shrugged, "letting me reach my dreams."

"Of course," Owen nodded in understanding, "thank you for letting us."

"Now what's the next step?" Kota asked. "Open your own place?"

"No," She shook her head, "Miss March said as long as we are here I can work with her, get more hands on experience and learn tricks she's learned over the years. I want to stay with her."

"Okay," they nodded. "Whatever you want."

"I have thought about adding onto it though," She said as she sat in Raven's lap and relished in him running his fingers through her hair. "Like a grooming salon and little pet store with clothes and things."

"That sounds fucking amazing," Gabe beamed. "I can already think of so many things."

She giggled, "I'm sure whatever you come up with will blow our minds."

Just then her phone rang and Corey passed it to her. She frowned at the unknown number and answered it, "Calista Ravenstahl speaking. Yes? What? Really? Of course, I'm on my way. Thank you."

"Who was that?" Axel asked as she looked down at her phone in shock.

"The birth mother we've been talking to?" She asked looking up at them. They nodded and she sniffled blinking back tears, "That was the hospital, she...she..."

"What, Pookie?" Sean asked concerned.

"She had twins," Calista sniffled, "It didn't show because it was in her back hiding this entire time."

"Twins?" Raven asked and she nodded.

"A boy and a girl," She said wiping a tear that slipped down. "She just signed the paperwork relinquishing them. We can go get them once she leaves but we can go ahead and fill out the paperwork and see them. The only thing she requested was that we send pictures every once in a while."

"Of course we will," Owen nodded. "Let's go see our babies."

"What a fucking day," Gabe beamed. "Our queen achieves her fucking dreams and becomes a goddamn vet, gets fucking ideas to expand her business, and we become goddamn parents! Can't get any fucking better than this!"

They rushed to the hospital and smiled as two nurses placed newborn babies in Calista's arms, one wrapped in blue and one wrapped in pink. Once they left the hospital they spent the rest of the day buying everything they needed for the nursery now that they knew what the babies were.

"Konstatin and Mika," Calista smiled as she looked at the babies in their crib fast asleep the following evening. "I love those names."

"Love it," Raven nodded as he kissed her temple. "Perfect."

"Absolutely," The rest of the men nodded.

They left the nursery and headed to the media room. Calista curled up in Silas' lap and he kissed the top of her head. "Can you believe it?"

"All our dreams have come true?" he asked and she nodded. "Yes, I can and it's all because we met a spitfire of a woman who would one day achieve WAY more than her dreams of working at her favorite place and become the vet assistant."
