Chapter 30

"There is the princess," a girl whispered to another as Calista left the classroom. "And did you see the way she was answering all the questions the teacher was asking? It was like she already knew everything. Why even take the classes if she already knows so much and is already working in a vet? What does she even have to learn if she already knows so much?"

Calista sighed and picked up her pace. Not paying attention since she was looking at the ground, she bumped into someone. "S...Sorry," she mumbled as she tried to take a step back but arms wrapped around her and she sighed in relief recognizing the arms and scent of North.

North murmured in her ear as he tried to not let his anger get the best of him as reminders of how he used to talk to her came rushing back. She nodded and he took her bag from her. "Ας πάμε σπίτι. She nodded again and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders then gently led her to his Jeep. He noticed that she was quiet the whole ride back. Once they got to the mansion she headed straight to her room and shut the door behind her.

"Kitten okay?" Raven asked and North shook his head.

"Stupid bitch running her mouth about Baby," North mumbled as he grabbed a water bottle.

"Used some of your words against her?" Luke asked. "Brought up how you first treated Cupcake?"

"Shut up, Lucian," North glared as he slammed his water bottle down then stormed off.

"I'll take that as a yes," Luke shook his head then popped a Hershey's kiss into his mouth.

"Baby?" North asked softly as he knocked on her door. He pushed open her door and found her curled up in bed. "Baby," he whispered as he came over to the bed.

"I'm fine," She mumbled as wrapped the comforter around her some more. "Just have a headache."

"Do you want me to get you some medicine?" He asked as he cautiously sat on the bed. He didn't want to overstep.

"Just want to sleep," she murmured. "Tired."

"Okay," he whispered as he ran his fingers through her hair. He heard her sniffle but didn't bring it up, not wanting to upset her. "Can I hold you, Baby?" She rolled over and wrapped her around his waist once he got in the bed. He smiled softly as she laid on her head on his chest. He went back to gently stroking her hair and just as she was drifting off to sleep he kissed the top of her head and whispered, "I'm so sorry for how I treated you, Baby. I wish you knew how deeply I regret it."

"I know North," She whispered back, "you were just trying not to get hurt again. I forgave you a long time ago."

He smiled, "Thank you, Baby. Now get some sleep."

She hummed then whispered just as sleep started to win, "Yes Sir."

Calista woke up and realized that she was alone, North was no longer in bed with her. She got out of bed, making Amaya, Zeus, and Hades get out of their kennels and stretch. "Shhh," she whispered as they followed her out into the hallway. She looked into the open doors and found Marc and Axel sleeping together, then Victor and Kota, Sean and Owen, North and Silas, Luke and Gabe, Nathan and Brandon, and Corey was fast asleep holding Raven's pillow. She frowned but headed downstairs. Opening the back door to let the dogs out she gasped seeing Raven leaning against the porch doorway frame.

"Kitten?" Raven asked shocked. "Why are you awake?"

"Just woke up," she mumbled.

"You okay?" He asked as he pushed himself off the frame and walked over to her. He gently pulled her over to the swing and sat down. Once she was sitting he pulled on her until she was laying her head in his lap. "I watch dogs, you rest."

She laid there for a few minutes in silence then asked, "Yevgeny?"

"Da?" He asked softly as he continued to run his fingers up and down her side soothingly.

"What's going to happen when you have to go back to Russia?"
