The next few months were hectic for Calista as she tried to manage going to college, attending vet classes and learn what she needed to do to rule Exalos properly. It was hard but she was managing. She had to admit she was kind of shocked that after her meltdown involving Elvard and Jaxon once she managed to pull herself together, she had no remorse or felt any guilt about it. She mentioned it to her husbands one time over dinner and they pointed out that her mind recognized that they were truly not her family and so it held no remorse for them due to all the trauma they caused her, and she shouldn't worry about it. She was so thankful for all the support they gave her during this time.
Her phone pinged and she smiled at the notification. Her surprise had arrived in the mail, and she couldn't wait to show them tonight over dinner. That was a rule she requested, and they made sure to follow it anyway possible. If they couldn't be there, they would do video call like when she stayed at the vet and so far everything was going well. She hoped they would like her surprise, a small part of her knew that they would but a huge part of her still worried that they wouldn't. Ugh, she hated having so much anxiety, it was such a drag.
The bell rang and she smiled as she shut her book and notebook. Sliding everything into her bag Amaya, Hades, and Zeus got up from where they were laying as she started to leave the class.
"I mean why is she even still here?" A girl asked another from behind her. "Especially after everything that happened with those guys. Shouldn't she be back in her own freaking country fixing everything they messed up? And what is she going to do when her husbands have to go back to Russia and run that?"
"They made a statement that she doesn't want to rule, she just wants to be normal. Her husbands are taking care of everything for her, it's really romantic if you think about it. Caring for her like that so she can live out her dreams," The other girl said.
"It's pathetic and taking the cowardly way out of her responsibilities," The first girl scoffed, "and how can someone not want to be queen? I mean she gets to live in a fucking castle and have maids and servants to do everything for her! What's so bad about that? And really did she really have to marry all the princes? Couldn't she leave some for the rest of us? Can we say selfish and greedy?"
Calista sighed, took a deep breath then turned around to glare at her, "First off, before you badmouth someone maybe you should do your research. You know NOTHING about me! I was FORCED to marry ALL the princes, it's called an arranged marriage, look it up. I had no say on who I married or how many husbands I would have. I just got fucking lucky that they are as wonderful as they are. As for living in the castle, here's a little fun fact, I had NO say in my life. I couldn't pick out my clothes for the day, what I got to eat, when I got to eat, what I got to do, hell I had to ask permission just to go outside for fresh air and even then I was escorted by body guards, so it's wasn't as glamorous as you think it is. I was forced to wear what someone else picked out, eat what was decided for me, eat when I was told and forced to wear a smile for everyone around me. Even when I was undergoing chemo treatments for my cancer, I still had to put on a pretty smile for everyone because it was expected of me. I had no life, I was a prisoner in there. Yeah I had maids and servants but guess what? That's nothing compared to not being able to do anything for myself. And when it comes to ruling my king, I'm sorry but I don't like the fact that I have MILLIONS of lives that I have to think about and that's just Exalos, that's not including Russia and the other countries that my father and mother in law rule right now. I'm so sorry that I have anxiety after everything I've been through so I'm relying on my husbands to help me through it but guess what, that's what marriage is about. Their strengths are ruling and they already excel in that. So why would I try to take that away from them? My strengths are being with the people, well obviously not YOU, but with the others. They like that I'm more like one of them, that I can understand where they are coming from because I spent my childhood with the villagers of Exalos. It's where I'm most comfortable and my husbands won't take that away from me. It's the perfect combination to rule our kingdoms and if you don't like how we are ruling right now you are more then welcome to go somewhere else. No one is forcing you to stay here. Oh, and one more thing," Calista smirked at her, "as for what will I do when it comes to ruling multiple countries, well Queen Elizabeth is the head of state for fifteen countries, at one point it was thirty-five, anyway I'm sure I can learn a lot from her since she's doing a pretty damn good job. I'm mean she has been ruling for over 70 years now. But like I said, if you don't like it here you are more than welcome to leave."
"I...I...I..." The woman gulped nervously.
"You've said enough," A deep voice said from behind Calista. "Go away."
