"So good to be home," she whispered into North's chest as he carried her into the house a week later.
"We glad you home too, Kitten," Raven smiled as he covered her lap with her favorite blanket. "Makes happy this your home."
She spotted her backpack and groaned, "Ugh, how far behind am I?"
"Your teachers have given you extensions," Kota smiled softly. "You just take your time and ease back into it, when you are ready. You don't have to rush and push yourself into getting back into learning."
"Okay," She nodded. "And what about my vet classes?"
"Based on what you already know and your work with Miss March, you aren't behind at all," Kota smiled. "You are actually still ahead of your classes."
"Okay," she smiled and yawned.
"Take a nap, Princess," Victor smiled as all four dogs laid down in their beds. "We will just be doing some work while you rest."
"In here?" She asked and they nodded.
"Of course," Owen nodded, "you aren't leaving our sights for awhile."
She smiled then frowned, "what about when I feel ready to go back to school?"
"One of us will walk you to and from classes," Luke shrugged, "no more walking by yourself. And before you even start to feel guilty, it gives all of us reassurance. Besides even if you protested we would just do it anyway."
"I appreciate it," she yawned, "I think I would feel better if you did anyway."
"Good," Raven smiled. "Now sleep, Kitten."
"Yes Sir," she mumbled as she drifted off to sleep.
It took a few days but she eventually felt well enough to start tackling her schoolwork. She sat down at Owen's desk and started pulling everything out. She grabbed a pencil and slipped on her headphones then started writing.
A tap on her shoulders made her jump in surprise, she slid her headphones down around her neck and gasped, "Owen."
"Sorry Darling," he forced back a smirk. "Lunch is ready."
"Okay," she nodded. "Sorry, I'll clean this up and move to the library."
"Don't," he shook his head. "You can use my desk whenever you need to."
"Thank you, Sir," She smiled fondly.
A glint passed in his eyes but by the time she blinked it was already gone so she had to have imagined it. "Now, come eat."
"Can I finish writing this down first, please?" she asked softly.
"Yes, you may," he nodded and she quickly finished writing her notes then sat the pencil down. He held his hand out and she placed her in his as she stood.
"How is your work coming along, Princess?" Victor asked as they ate.
"It's coming," she shrugged. "I am almost down with math but actually, would you mind double checking my work Kota, please? Just whenever you have the time."
"It would be my pleasure, Ten," he smiled at her. "But remember you don't have to do all of it now."
"I know," she nodded, "I just want to." She shrugged, "I'll stop when I feel like it, I won't push myself, I promise."
"Good," Axel nodded.
After lunch she went back to the desk and got started on her work again. She shut her book and sighed then stretched, turning to look at the dogs, she smiled, "Let's go for a walk."
They stretched and started wagging their butts and tails in happiness. Since she was staying on the property she didn't feel the need to attach their harnesses or leashes.
"And where are you five off too?" Nathan asked as he wiped his forehead and tried to catch his breath as he approached her from his run.
"I needed some fresh air," she shrugged, "so we decided to go for a walk."
"I'll join you," He smiled.
"Okay," she smiled and they began walking. As they walked, Nathan watched while she took in sun. She never tried to walk ahead of him and her little giggle as the dogs raced around them was music to his ears. He had to agree with Raven, her hand fit perfectly in his and he never thought he would enjoy it but he actually liked how she gently swung their intertwined hands back and forth as they walked. It was cute and adorable.
"How are you doing, Peanut?" he asked softly. "Need to take a break?"
"Nope," She shook her head, "I'm okay." After a few more minutes of walking she started to slow down, "Nathan?" he looked at her curiously. "I think I may have walked too far. I don't think I can walk all the way back to the house. I didn't realize just how far we walked or how large this land was."
"That's okay, Peanut," he chuckled. "Up we go." He picked her up and helped her climb onto his back. She giggled as she wrapped her legs around his waist and arms hung around his neck. "Comfy?"
"Thank you, Honey," she whispered.
"Thank you for being honest," he smirked up at her. "Here we go."
"Enjoying your ride, Cupcake?" Luke chuckled as they walked into the living room.
"Very much," she smiled as he gently sat her down on the couch.
"Here you go, Babe," Brandon said as he handed her a water bottle. She smiled gratefully and took a drink. "Enjoy your walk?"
"Yep," she smiled, "I'm very glad Honey decided to join me, I didn't realize how large the land was."
"It was no problem," Nathan smiled, "I enjoyed our one on one time."
"I did too," She smiled as he patted her knee.
"I'm going to hop in the shower," he smiled as he kissed the top of her head then walked off.
"We'll figure out a way for you to have one on one time with all of us, Beautiful," Marc smiled.
"Thank you," her eyes lit up at the comment.
"Come on, you can help me make dinner," Marc said as he picked her up and carried her off to the kitchen. "We're going to make lasagna, garlic toast, and salad."
"Yummy," She smiled as she washed her hands.
During dinner, they noticed that she got quiet, and something was on her mind. They looked at one another and just waited. She bit her lip and pushed some food around with her fork.
"Talk Kitten," Raven gently demanded.
"Are they still alive?" she asked twirling her fork.
"Come again?" North asked confused.
"What?" Raven asked.
"Are the king and prince still alive?" She asked setting her fork down.
"Da?" Raven nodded still confused about where she was going with this.
"Good," She nodded. "I need to know how they could treat me and my kingdom this way. I need answers, Yevgeny. I need to see them."
