Daisy POV

"So, how exactly does it feel to be the daughter of an ex-convict?" Crabbe sneered, falling into step with me. "You must feel quite miserable and pathetic, I guess?" Groaning under my breath, I rolled my eyes. My fingers curled towards my palms and I decided to simply ignore them. But then, in the next second, decided against it.

"You were friends with someone whose father went to Azkaban...that I would call pathetic. Oh, and right who also is a Death Eater."

The snort that escaped Zabini did not go unnoticed by me, but rather fueled the fire a bit more.
"Something's funny, Zabini?"

"Indeed. I find you terribly amusing, Daisy-flower."
"Git."
"Ooh, you hurt my feelings."
"Like I would care. And be careful, before I hurt any other part of your body." Grinning wickedly, I turned towards Blaise Zabini.

"So violent, Daisy-flower." He grinned as well, making a terribly annoying dimple show up in his left cheek.
"Oh, that is not violent, but I can show you violent."
"Like you punched Malfoy in year four?"
"Trust me, with you I will try to aim for more painful body parts." With that and another grin, I spun around and hurdled after Lucas and trying to catch up with him. When I had nearly reached my friend the Slytherin fool obviously had to make my blood boil again.

"Seems like the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Naiv mother loves a convict, the daughter is violent as hell. Guess the criminality runs in the family."

Now he had crossed a line that really no one should dare crossing.

"Don't you ever dare say one bad word about my mother! Maybe look at your own mother first. Doesn't she like to sleep around a lot? You prick!" I actually did not want to be so cruel, but when someone insulted my mother I saw red. My mother was my everything and him talking badly about her was one step too far.

"You—"

Then a voice appeared out of nowhere—a voice that sent a chill down my spine and made bile creep up my throat. "Language, Ms Bell, and detention. Ms Carrow's classroom, 4pm."

Protest was useless and a big part if my brain really wondered how my mother had ever been able to show kindness towards someone like him. Snape.

"You too, Mr Zabini. Mr Crabbe." Cruel delight sparked inside of me at that. I hated them—hated them so much and had really no idea how I became the centre of their constant cruel attacks. Times were already difficult enough, I really did not need these idiots to make my life even more difficult.

Once I had finally reached Lucas I tried to veil my face in cool indifference, linking my arm with his.
"In all honesty, one might think you are crazy for each other with your constant teasing and bantering." Luc snickered, while we headed for the Great Hall. "Can you please not? This is not teasing, he just insulted my mum. And me!"

"You insulted his mum as well."
This was useless. Yes, I insulted his mum, but only because he insulted mine first. I rolled my eyes at my best friend before plopping down next to Ginny Weasley and Josy.

"I cannot join for Quidditch practice today, I have detention with Snape." I grumbled, picking up a piece of chicken and some potatoes. Although the content of my stomach was constantly sour as my parents probably had to go on Order missions daily, I still needed to eat at least a bit.

"Again? Someone might think you fancy Snape by how much time you spend with him." Ginny laughed which made Neville Longbottom nearly choke on his drink.
"You are absolutely not funny, Gin."
"What? I do believe myself to be very, very funny." I nudged the red-haired girl with my elbow, rolling my eyes again. She smiled.
But that smile she gave did not at all reach her eyes and I knew she was just playing it cool that Harry was god knows where. I was worried as hell as well. He was...my brother somehow—family. I cared about him a lot and now that he was Horcrux hunting made my stomach twist and churn even more.
