Daisy POV

"Mum. Mum!?" I quickly grabbed my mum's hands, making her stop. "Mum, calm down. Yes, it is dad's birthday, but calm down. Everything will be fine." Mum was a ball of excitement and nervosity. Today was dad's fortieth birthday, Minnie had even allowed me and all other Hogwarts students that were invited to go home. And mum was going crazy—she was a bundle of nervousness and excitement.

"I want everything to be amazing. Fine is not good enough. It needs to be perfect. His last birthday he spent in Azkaban."
"Simply having you, Oscar and me here will make it perfect for him. Mum, he has you back. That is enough for him. And it will be amazing!" I assured her again.

Mum had planned this huge party. A surprise party. Harry and Remus had picked dad up this morning, doing god knows what with him and later when they would return there would be this huge surprise party for him.

"I know...I know but—not there! I want the table over there." With that mum pushed past me and hurdled towards the big tent they had built up in the morning.

When arms snuck around my waist, I was still shaking my head at mum, still grinning though. "How is it possible that after more than twenty years she is still so head over heels for dad?"
"Don't you think it will be the same with us?" Moving a hand back I pinched Blaise's thigh. "But honestly, I do understand it. After everything they went through and after being separated for 12 years...it find it kind of cute."

Cute.

"I also think it's cute but also terribly cheesy from time to time." I answered my boyfriend, smiling when I spotted mum hurdling out of the tent again.

My gaze was fixed on her when I suddenly felt a tug on skirt and looked downwards to find my little brother glancing up at me."Where is mummy?" In the next moment Blaise let go of me and picked up Oscar. "Ey buddy. What's up? Haven't seen you in a while."
Oscar grinned, giggling and showing Blaise the ball he was holding in his hand. "Shall we go play?"

"Yes!" Oscar beamed and added, "Please." Smiling I watched them march away, mum seemingly completely forgotten. Oscar loved Blaise—sometimes I was wortied that he loved him more than me.

Chuckling at myself (because my little brother would never dare love me less than Blaise) I headed into the direction mum was now storming into. I needed to help her a bit, not that she got an heart attack or similar.

Together with mum, Tonks, Hermione, Ginny and Ron we placed at least fifteen cakes on tables and added a bit more decorations. Then Blaise and Oscar came already hurdling inside the tent to tell us that dad, Remus and Harry had returned which meant we all had to head. We all ducked under tables, hid behind chairs and curtains. And then we waited, bliss and anticipation blooming inside of me. Godrick, I was so happy—so happy for dad that he could celebrate this birthday with us. That he was out and free and...happy. I could not let myself think about his time in Azkaban. It always sent a bolt of pain and terror through my chest.

And then the curtains of the tent parted and dad peeked in, irritation radiating from every fiber of his body. His brows kicked up and—

"Happy Birthday!" we all shouted in unison when dad, Remus and Harry stepped inside the tent. I had barely ever seen my father that surprised. A big grin broke out on his face when I noticed his lashes dampening.

"Happiest Birthday to the love of my life. Forty, you old man!" mum beamed when she headed towards my father. I looked over my shoulder, smiling at Blaise. "That was what I meant by cheesy." Chuckling, he pinched my waist.

"Have I ever told you that your are the absolute best, Mathilda? Best wife, best mother, best woman in the world. I probably have but I can only repeat myself." After sharing a kiss and hugging each other for minutes, my father also made his way over to Oscar, Blaise and I. "'And you, Daisy-dear, feigning a lack of knowledge about what we will do on my birthday. Oh, just dinner or so. I don't really know.'" Dad grinned when he wrapped me into his arms.

"Surprise, surprise. But you know," —I leaned back, meeting his gaze— "if I had told you, mum would have probably beheaded me. Happy Birthday, dad!" Laughing loudly, dad hugged me again. Then he clasped Blaise shoulder when he told him all the best and lastly picked up Oscar.
" You also kept your mouth shut, huh, buddy?" Oscar grinned and dipped his chin. "Of course."

And then everyone congratulated dad on his birthday, some people I still did not exactly know who they were. The tent was heavily crowded with seemingly everyone from the Wizarding World. Dad sat with Remus, Dora and McGonagall. Mum stood next to great-grandfather and Slughorn discussing probably all kinds of weird things. And grandmother I found talking to Hagrid, both of them laughing loudly. Slowly gliding over the dance floor in the middle of the room and looking for people I knew, I sat down with Harry, Hermione, Ginny and Ron while Blaise went to the loo. Oscar I noticed sitting in the corner of the tent, playing with Teddy with some magical cubes and animals. I smiled to myself, being filled with utter happiness and bliss.

"Now, is he really good?" Hermione questioned when I dropped into a chair next to her. In an instant all eyes were on me.
"And we are not talking about the bedroom." Ginny added with a wink. My eyes went wide and I snapped my face towards her. "Gin, Dais is like a little sister to me. Could you please not?" Harry grit out, his hand clasping Ginny's shoulder.
We all chuckled loudly and when I turned my face towards Hermione I dipped my chin. "He is. You have to give him a chance, but he truly is—kind and caring, honest and respectful. I love him."
"That you do." Ron commented, a grin tugging on his lips.

Speak of the devil. Scratching his neck, Blaise neared us, seemingly hesitant if he should join us. I slowly got up, pointed towards my chair, he sat down and I let myself fall onto his lap.

"Mate, I think I have never told you thank you. For coming back and saving my ass in the room of requirements." Blaise expressed, shifting me on his lap and leaning towards Ron. Ron only as much as dipped his chin.
"I mean it. And also what you did for Malfoy, coming back and saving him. Thank you, Potter."

"Harry."

"Sorry, Harry."

"And no problem. What is he doing? How is he doing?" Harry questioned, his eyes narrowing on the glass he held in his hands.

"Still doing social work and I believe he is doing quite alright, doesn't talk much about all of it." Blaise explained, when I leaned backwards and my head against his strong shoulder.

For quite some time we continued talking about our time at Hogwarts until the conversation shifted towards Quidditch and I decided to shortly leave my friends and find my parents.

"Hey, you." I beamed when I neared my family. Oscar was sat on dad's lap. Mum immediately snuck her arm around my midriff when I came to a halt next to her. She beamed up at me, a deep red colour staining her cheeks.

"Your mother did drink a bit too much, Daisy." dad commented and mum pouted her lips.
"I did not." she protested before grinning brightly. I chuckled loudly, before sitting down on my mother's lap which must have looked rather funny as I was already so much taller than her.

"This is the best birthday in my whole entire life! I have all of you here—my family, my friends." dad told me, his hand coming to a rest and on my shoulder which he clasped tightly. His eyes glowed in the dimly lit room, utter happiness displayed in his features.

"I am glad you are happy. I really is an amazing day." I told him, looking between the members of my family and smiling to myself.

And it truly was—it was what my father deserved, but also what we all deserved. After those long years of terror and chaos we all deserved happiness, peace and comfort.
