Space, stars, the planets, all held special places in your heart but none like the moon. The moon seemed like it's own personal entity and everytime you laid eyes on it a warm feeling filled your chest. As if something or someone was looking back at you from it. Your fascination with the moon was not a whim, no it was started by your fascination with Khonshu, the egyption moon god. He was your favorite thing to study down to the very last detail. In fact you enjoyed studying egyption mythology so much you frequented a neighboring museum quite a bit. Your favorite worker happened to be Steven Grant, something about him drew you in and you didn't realize why until.. today. Today you made your way into the museum, it was never very busy but that made it all the more fun. Walking swiftly into the giftshop you found your friend. He seemed slightly disheveled but that wasn't entirely unusual. The two of you waved at eachother as you made your way to the front counter.
"Got any interesting facts for me today Steven?" You questioned with a wide grin. He stood silent for a moment deep in thought as he tried to find one he hadn't told you before. A deep voice rang out from behind you freezing you in your tracks.
"I have one for her, worm." Stated the voice sending you turning on your heels to face the direction of it. Steven too looked at the creature with a sour expression. The creature peered down at you, and although you couldn't see its face, it seemed just as confused as you. Stepping back you felt the countertop behind you grabbing it tightly. The only thing you could get out was a meek:
"Khonshu-?" Before blacking out.

You awoke to the sounds of, 2 or 3 people fighting, an unfamiliar room filled your gaze as you groggily opened your eyes. Sitting up you held your aching head looking around to find the cause of the voices. Once the voices realized you sat up they stopped and you felt eyes on you. Steven ran up to you placing an arm under yours to help you up.
"Steven? Where am I?" You questioned squinting as your eyes adjusted to the light. Steven seemed nervous as he looked behind you, you turned but he forced your gaze back onto him.
"I'm sorry, you're in my home. I didn't know where else to bring you." Confusion filled your mind as you tried to recall what happened before you woke up here. Then it clicked, your eyes widened as you turned around. Steven tried to stop you but you shoved him away. There standing before you was Khonshu, the god you had studied for so long was right there. Despite him not having eyes you felt his stare upon you, it was frighteningly powerful. You didn't dare to say a word, only reveling in his godliness. Steven spoke up walking between you and the moon god.
"You really can seem him, can't you?" He questioned nervously looking at you. Nodding at his question you refused to take your eyes off of the god. For fear that if you were to even blink he would disappear.
"How is that possible?" You questioned in just as much disbelief as Steven. The god bent down to be more at your level before speaking.
"Its simple, we're meant to be." He stated a small chuckle arising from his throat. This produced more questions then answers from both you and Steven.
"What does that mean?" You questioned nervously backing away from him. He seemed perplexed at your distrust of him and made his way forward.
"We're soulmates. Isn't it obvious? Your affinity for the moon is no coincidence. I've been watching you since you were young." You shook your head.
"So what you chose me?" Khonshu shook his head placing a soft hand on your cheek.
"Not even gods may choose who they're to spend eternity with. As I said, we're simply meant to be." You moved the gods hand away before quietly making your way to the door.
"This has to be a dream, I'm dreaming, I'm gonna wake up. None of this is happening." You opened the door only to see Khonshu behind it.
"This is no dream. There is no waking from it. We're soulmates and one day you will rule the night sky by my side."
"What?! That's insane! Steven is this some kind of sick joke?" Steven frantically shook his head while Khonshu let out a frustrated sigh.
"I was hoping you'd be more pleased about this. I'm your favorite god after all." Although he showed no expression it was obvious he was smirking. Your face flushed with a red tint at his words.
"If you've been watching me for years, how have a not seen you before?" You questioned gazing upwards at the tall figure. He gazed down at you shrugging slightly.
"I suppose now the timing was right. Where as it wasn't before." You nodded looking at Steven who still wore a perplexed expression.
"If you knew this whole time, why didn't you tell me?" He questioned placing his hands on his hips. Khonshu gave an exasperated sigh shifting his attention to the man.
"It was not information you needed to know, worm."
"Well, I would've liked to know. Just saying." You couldn't help but laugh at Steven. It felt nice being in Khonshu's presence, it felt.. safe. If this truly ended up being a dream, it was one you never wanted to wake up from, not in a million years. Although, the perks of being the soulmate of a god, where short-lived..
