Worst of You | Choni

chapter 35

All night, Toni watched Cheryl closely, making sure that she was safe. Every now and then, Toni would look away making sure that Reggie was as far as can be. Right now, Reggie wasn't in sight.

Cheryl and Veronica had a couple drinks, they weren't super drunk but they werent completely sober either. Toni stood by the door frame as the loud music roamed the entire house. The two girls danced up against eachother and if she said that Toni didn't wish it was her instead, she'd be lying. Toni had a drink in her hand, sipping on it as she saw the raven-haired and redheaded girls close a gap between them. They were so close, their bodies just moved together in one. Veronica wrapped her arms around Cheryl's neck and they stared at eachother. Veronica immediately looking into Cheryl's eyes with a smile. Veronica closing a gap between their lips. It didn't look like Cheryl hesitated at all kissing her back.

At this point, Toni couldn't look anymore. It hurt her watching the girl she liked kiss someone else. Her head fell, looking down. She stared down at her drink. The pink-haired serpent felt a light tap on her shoulder. She picked up her head to look over, discovering her tall serpent, best friend.

"Everything okay, Tiny?" Sweet Pea asked, genuinely concerned for his friend.

Toni sighed and looked up over to where the two girls were. At this point, the kiss had gotten more heated and the two were just making out between songs, while still dancing and rubbing up against each other.

Sweet Pea looked over to where his friend was looking. He was completely devestated and it showed in his eyes. The two serpents stopped looking at the girls to lock eyes with eachother. Both serpents just wishing they hadn't seen that.

Sweet Pea understood now that Toni was a bit hurt seeing all that. To be honest, he was too. But he never really had a chance with Veronica to begin with. At least Cheryl and Toni had the potential to be together.

"They're just drunk... It's probably not that serious." The boy admitted, trying to make the girl feel better. 

Toni just nodded, keeping a straight face.

Silence whithered within the two for a moment.

Interrupting the silence, lifting up his cup, the tall serpent chuckled.

"Well... Cheers to the love we can't have, right?"

Toni cracked a small smile at his attempt at a joke and bumped cups with him, both taking a sip right after.

When Toni looked back in the girls direction, he noticed Reggie talking to the two girls, handing Cheryl a drink.

"Shit." Toni spat.

While she had been talking to Sweet Pea, I guess he had made his appearance.

Toni watched as Cheryl hesitated to take his drink.

Little did she know that as soon as Reggie came up, offering her the drink, her memories of that horrid night came flooding back. She wasn't sure what popped that memory back up. Maybe it was the parallels from tonight and that one. Reggie had came up, telling her she looks like could use a drink. Again. Just looking at him as he said that caused her to bring up those memories she had wished she had forgotten.

Just as Toni was about to rush over there, Cheryl grabbed the drink that Reggie had offered her and threw it at his face.

"Sorry, I thought you could use a drink." The redhead snapped.

The tall Northsider just stared at her, utterly shocked that this had just happened to him.

Cheryl ran away from him, rummaging through the house, beginning to sob. Veronica followed right behind her with worry lines across her forehead as she had no idea what just happened and why. Toni stopped in her tracks when she reached the bulldog.

She laughed in his face before kicking him hard between the legs, right in his groin.

The football player dropped his drink as he grabbed onto his crotch, crouching in pain.

Toni had no remorse, she grabbed him by his shirt, using all his strength to drag him through the house and out the door.

"Get out, Mantle." She started as she shoved him out the door.

She lifted up her leg to kick him again. This time right under his stomach, as he fell down backwards down the concrete steps behind him.

The boy held his stomach as he tried to catch a breath. Toni just chuckling as he struggled.

"Every time you do something to piss me off, your punishments just get worse and worse. Just stop now if you like to breathe." The pink-haired serpent said with a huge smirk, slamming the door shut and locked it.

Toni immediately turned back around, looking around the entire house, in search of Cheryl.

Cheryl rushed into the nearest bathroom closing the door behind her. Veronica following right behind her, luckily the door was unlocked so she she was able to come right in. Veronica locked the door behind her and turned around to find her redheaded friend cowering in the corner. She had dug her head in her knees as her arms wrapped around her legs. Her friend had started bawling her eyes by this point and she couldn't understand why. Veronica kneeled down, in front of her crying friend. She gently placed her hand on her back, giving her a comforting rub.

Cheryl lifted her head and looked at her friend.

Veronica gave her a small smile and pulled herself in to give her a small hug. When she pulled back, Veronica lifted her hand off Cheryl's back and placed it against her cheek. She wiped away her tears with her thumb, giving her check a gentle rub before removing her hand.

"What's wrong, Cheryl? Is everything okay?" Veronica asked in a soft voice, looking right into her friends eyes.

Cheryl didn't say a word, she just looked at her with tears still at the rim of her eyelids. Veronica just embraced her friend once more and kept her hand on Cheryls back, giving her soothing rubs until she felt comfortable enough to speak up.

Cheryl sighed before speaking up. She let out a sound to start speaking but then shortly stopped.

"It's okay, Cheryl." Veronica added, with a quick smile.

"I- I ju-" Cheryl paused.

One minute went by until she continued.

"I just remembered something horrible that happened to me and I just wish I could forget it" Cheryl finally let out.

The raven-haired girl let out a sympathetic smile, wanting to be there for her friend. She sat beside Cheryl, wrapping her arms around the girl and holding her tight and close. Cheryl dropped her head closer into her knees and Veronica just placed her head on top of hers in a comforting way, rubbing her softly with her arms that wrapped around her.

The two girls sat there in the corner. Veronica being patient with Cheryl, and Cheryl trying to gain the courage to talk about it with her close friend.
