Cheryl and Toni walked side by side. It was a warm but a bit windy night that had dark clouds covering the stars. Every now and then, the bright full moon would make an appearance between the clouds that flowed through. Thunder would roar every now and then but no precipitation would follow.
It was a comfortable silence that they had. But the two girls just desperately wanted to say what is on their minds.
"So..." The pink-haired serpent started.
"Veronica?" The serpent questioned but it came out more like a statement.
"I saw you guys kissing at the party. I'm sure you guys were dru-" Toni rambled.
Cheryl pursed her lips before replying and interrupting.
"She kissed me." Cheryl admitted, looking right at Toni.
Toni avoided eye contact. Cheryl could sense that Toni felt some type of way. It was so rare to see Toni that way. Cheryl was pretty amused by it and she enjoyed Toni's jealousy. So, she continued to drag it out, wanting to keep getting the reaction that she thought looked pretty charming on the pink-haired girl.
"In the bathroom, when we were alone... We kissed."
"Actually just before you came looking for me, it happened." The redhead added.
"So are you guys a thing now?" The shorter girl asked.
Cheryl smiled at the question, not giving her an answer right now.
Toni nodded when Cheryl became silent instead of answering.
"If I'm being honest, red..."
The redhead smiled even wider at the nickname. A blush rising on her cheeks, going unnoticed by the serpent.
"Losing you..." The pink-haired girl began.
Toni continued to walk but, finally turned her head to face Cheryl.
The two teenagers looked into each others eyes.
"Cheryl, losing you was the biggest mistake I don't even have the right to regret."
Toni sighed, looking back in front of her after her confession.
Cheryl didn't say a word. She had so many emotions running through her body. She wasn't sure if she was glad that Toni finally admitted something like that to her or whether she was upset with her because it took her so long to realize that she was right there all along.
Cheryl's mind just kept thinking back to all the horrible things Toni had done to her. All the negative memories just filled her brain. Cheryl worked so hard on herself, trying to move past anything that had to do with Toni. And now, here she was.. She wanted Toni for so long. But was it even worth it now? Cheryl needed time to think.
The Blossom shook her head and scoffed.
"Don't do this, Toni." Cheryl told the serpent.
Toni's face was filled with confusion, looking at her.
"I can walk myself home." Cheryl said.
Cheryl stepped out onto the road from the sidewalk. She looked both ways before walking into the road to get to the other side. Luckily, it was the middle of the night so rarely any cars were out at this time of night.
Immediately after Toni noticed her walking to the other side, Toni chased the girl.
Before Cheryl could even reach the other side of the road, Cheryl felt a grip on her wrist, forcing her to turn around.
"Cheryl, I'm sorry." The serpent apologized.
The two girls stood in the middle of the road, Toni's hand still gripped onto Cheryl's wrist. Cheryl eyes the girls body, going up to her eyes where she found sincerity in her apology.
