Toni woke up at 4am as she always did. She woke up in the storage closet of the Wyrm. Luckily, it was a large closet and was big enough for Toni and Asher to sleep in.
Toni stood up, touching her lip, feeling the bump that was left. She moved her hand up to her eye, pressing against it, wincing in pain as she touched it. She stood above her brother as she continued to examine his scars and bruises and finally went over to wake up her brother as she sighed. The two got up, getting ready for the day.
By the time it was 6am, the serpents decided to have a meeting at the Wyrm along with Jason. Toni and Asher rushed back to the Wyrm storage closet after coming back from showering at the locker rooms of Riverdale High. Luckily, they both made it back in time before all the other serpents had shown. When it was time for the meeting, Toni began making her way out to the bar.
"Stay here, Asher." Toni asked of her brother as she slipped on her serpent jacket and reached the door to exit the storage closet.
"Why? I'm a serpent too." Asher said as he grabbed his serpent jacket and slipped it right on, heading towards the door.
"I know that, Ash. It's just too dangerous for you. You're too young to be exposed to this much danger." Toni admitted.
"Antoinette, that's completely unfair. You joined the serpents when you were 14. So did I, and now I'm 15 and you're 17. We both put ourselves in danger when we decided to join the gang. We may have been born into this gang but it was our decision to join. We knew what we were getting ourselves into when we joined." Asher stopped in his tracks and argued.
"If anything ever happened to you, I would never be able to forgive myself. You're the only family I have. It's better me being in danger than you."
Asher walked up closer to his older sister, making sure he made eye contact with her.
"Toni, I'm a serpent. I'm in a gang. It's always going to be dangerous. You're not always going to be able to protect me. I-"
"I will always protect you. You're my baby brother and you always will be. It's my job." Toni interrupted.
"B-but I can protect myself."
Toni looked to her brother and sighed, pulling him into a hug.
"I know. I just don't ever want to lose you, Asher." Toni whispered into him as they hugged. "I can't lose you too." Toni cried as she dug her face into the crook of his neck of her brother.
Asher hugged his sister back tightly, then shortly pulled away.
"You never will." He sighed as he stared at his sister. "I promise." He said in a soft voice, directly at Toni.
Toni looked to her brother, wiping her tear away that ran down her cheek and nodded, smiling up at Asher.
"Let's go then." Toni stated as she opened the door, letting her brother walk out first, then following right behind.
Toni and Asher both walked up to the gang of serpents. Jason had already begun the meeting.
"My father and Hiram will be in the southside today beginning to demolish property to start building their company. My guess is that they'll start where most serpents always hang out. Here. No warning, they'll just get right to destroying whatever and whoever is here as soon as they walk in. The plan is to be right here, after school. We're going to bring an end to their plan, their southside takeover, and their drug and mob business. We can't let them win, they will continue to hurt more people like serpents, and I can't watch them hurt people who have no harm in this world. Remember, I'm here to help you guys, not hurt you." Jason said.
The serpents nodded and whispered, agreeing. After the meeting had ended and all serpents were going back to their lives, Jason spotted Toni across the bar alongside a taller boy who looked similar in face and walked over to her.
"Toni, hey." Jason said with a smile as he looked to her then the boy beside her.
Toni tried to hide her face, looking down as she responded. "Hey, Jason."
"Who's this?" Jason asked, motioning to the boy beside her.
Toni slowly began to look up at the Blossom.
"My little brother, Asher. He's going to be joining us with this mission. I trust him with my entire life, Jason."
Jason nodded as he looked between the two.
"If you trust him, then I do too. Nice to meet you, Asher."
Asher smiled at the Blossom. "Thanks, nice to meet you too, Jason."
Jason smiled back at the boy and finally got a good look at both of them. He began to worry as he got a good look of their faces. He made eye contact with the two and then looked straight at Toni.
"Are you guys okay?"
Toni looked to at Jason, walking up to him, grabbing his shoulder, motioning him to step aside with her. Jason got the signal and the two stepped away from Asher.
"Look, Jason. I want you to know that I can't see Cheryl right now.. I know this will hurt her but I just can't face her.. Not like this. She'll ask too many questions and I'm just not ready to talk. Tell her I'm fine." Toni asked of Jason.
Jason nodded as he took a quick glance at Toni's bruises and cuts on her face and neck.
"I'll make sure to be there for her when she's hurting."
"Thanks." Toni said as she walked away from the Blossom and walked over to her brother.
Toni walked away with her brother beside her. "Go to school, and I'm gonna go to Uncle James and get him to get you transferred to Riverdale High."
"But-"
"I can protect myself. We'll get you out of that school and get you into a better and safer one. I'm going to go pay Uncle James a visit. I promise, he'll do what I say." Toni paused. "Just trust me."
Asher nodded and walked into the storage closet to grab his bookbag as Toni mirrored his actions. The two walked out from the back of the Wyrm and onto their vehicles.
"Don't follow me to Uncle James. Just go to school, Asher. I'm serious."
Asher nodded. "Fine."
Toni put on her helmet, turning on her vehicle and eventually driving off.
