Katherine POV

Two years, who would have ever thought that two kids could live that long on their own? I sure as hell didn't think that would ever be possible. I could tell from Serena's constant facial cues, and her need to take a deep water swim, that it was always bugging her too. I tried to stay up beat and not let her see all the fear that had been brought on us on that day.

To keep things cool and neutral, we kept the same schedule that we had when our dragon mothers were around. We woke up around 10:00 every day and went for a...."run". After we spared until we were both unable to move or hit. And we practiced our spells for a couple hours after that was over.

By now, I had created a huge ice house for us to live in. One of the things that Nevania had taught me before she disappeared forever was how to create structures that would only melt when I wanted them to....or when Serena managed to melt them in her anger. As we got older our fights have been getting more and more violent. They usually end with us laughing about it, but that didn't mean we didn't move half the ocean before that.

Often these days she was off looking for the journals of our birth mother. We had never actually known her but we had been told about her but Nazumi and Nevania. They told us all about our family and their history. It was actually a very cute story

Our parents were both from long lines of dragon slayers, and our dragons were from the lines that had taught of our parents. One day our parents had met and fell in love and had Serena soon after, I didn't come for a few months, actually a year later. When Serena had just turned two and I turned one (yes our birthdays are on the same day but a year apart.) our parents were killed in battle.

That's when Nazumi and Nevania had taken us away to start our training. Serena took after our mom and her water dragon slaying magic and I took after our ice dragon slayer father. We the fourth generation of dragon slayers, which we didn't know if that was weird or not, and they didn't tell us it wasn't so we don't really think anything of it.

I was in the ice kitchen when I heard a loud thunk come from the front door. I made an ice spear out of the chair I was sitting on, and walked towards the ruckus. I ducked behind doors and scooted around furniture. Serena was currently out, and this was the first time I was by myself and something like this happened. I was petrified until I could sense the magic energy of my sister. I ran to the front door and saw her dragging something inside.

"What the hell? You scared me half to death!" I scolded from the front entrance.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to." She apologized turning around to see me. "This thing is just super heavy!" She complained rubbing her back.

"What is it?" I questioned trying to see what she was hiding behind her.

"It looks like some kind of egg, I found it on the other side of the ice house." She shrugged, obviously not seeing the problem. "Well anyway I thought I should bring it here, and we can hatch it. It wasn't in a nest so I am guessing that something just left it to die."

My eyes lit up at the thought of saving this eggs life. It had some weird markings on it, it almost looked like a pair of bat wings mixed entwined with a pair of angel or bird wings. It was one of the prettiest things I had ever seen in my whole life. The egg was tie dyed blue and white, I thought it matched me and Serena perfectly. I had some reservations about keeping this random thing that came from some random place, in our house. But I had this pull towards it, like we needed to keep it. It was a weird compulsion, but I listened to it anyway.

"What should we do with it?" I asked. "For some reason I don't think it needs a normal nest, maybe something like an ice or water nest." I commented checking out the egg. "What do you think?"
