When Olivia Sandrin was born, she was lucky to have a caring and loving family but most of all she loved her sister. Her sister Jenny was her role model, she wanted to be a dancer. Her family kept her sister in dance classes and Olivia loved to go and watch her.
When practicing it, Jenny then taught her all the dance moves she learned in class. Olivia was a quick learner and practiced the moves herself when no one was around. This kept going on until Olivia went to high school, she tried to make dance her priority but her parents disagreed due to her decreasing grades. Jenny struggled a lot to convince her parents to let her dance with her but they were stubborn. Olivia made a considerable effort to increase her grades and finally, her parents allowed her little time to dance but Olivia was grateful about it. Jenny was as passionate as her sister was to make her dance better that she would take her to street dances on Saturday nights. Olivia loved Jenny so much.
One night, her parents received a phone call...they started to scream and shout. Olivia stood right there wanting to know what happened. Her mom said, "Olivia, listen to me...there's a tragedy that has occurred...your sister met with an accident. She got hit by a drunkard driver and didn't make it." Olivia just stood there petrified. She didn't know what to do while tears ran down her face uncontrollably. Her precious sister was gone...
She cried and screamed. Her parents tried to consulate her but she said, "Jenny is not dead. Do you have any idea what you're saying?! My sister is not even in her 30s yet, this cannot happen!" Her hands trembled. She locked herself and cried on her bed till she went to sleep. Her mother came and asked her several times to go and eat but Olivia refused. Her appetite was gone...she thought of all her memories with her and suddenly started practicing all the moves that Jenny taught her.
All of a sudden it struck her, She thought, "That's it! Jenny always wanted to go to the Kalerin Dance Academy, I know that she wanted me to go too so now I'll go for her! She went down the stairs, "Mom! Dad! Jenny always wanted to go to Kalerin Dance Academy, can I go instead of her? I want to chase our dream." Her mom said, "Sit down let's talk." They sat down, she continued, "First of all, are you okay?" Olivia stayed strong and replied, "I'll be okay if you allow me." Her parents looked at each other and then her mother held her hand and said, "We would love for you to chase Jenny's dream but there are a few factors we must consider...we don't have enough money for this school and you will have to work very hard to get a scholarship, and what if you don't succeed with your dance career in the future. We don't want you to live a poor life, my dear." But Olivia was determined, she said fiercely, "Mom and Dad, I promise that I will somehow get the scholarship and find the funds to complete the fees and I will be so successful that you won't have to worry about money again. This is my promise and If I don't fulfill it then my name isn't Olivia Sandrin!" Her parents said, "Olivia, don't make these promises which are almost impossible to fulfill." Olivia said, "I've made up my mind. I will make it happen!"
She used her dance skills and became a street dancer. At first, she hardly earned a few cents and her parents told her to just concentrate on the scholarship but she didn't stop. Word spread around town and many people started coming to see her dance. She went from earning cents to dollars. Although it was not a lot, she was satisfied with little, Olivia concentrated a lot on studying. She took extra help from the smart students and even teachers. The teachers were very pleased when she came for help. At last final exams were approaching, and Olivia was studying harder than ever determined to reach her goals. Exam day came, she knew she was prepared but she was as nervous as ever because she knew her dream was on the line. The exam was over after a few days, she knew the exam went well but she never had confidence in herself. High school was over and now she had nothing to do but wait for her results. Olivia was more scared of rejection because she didn't have a backup university to go to. She danced and earned money on the side of the streets and saved up.
Finally, the day came. Her mother shouted, "Olivia! It's a letter from Kalerin Dance Academy!" Olivia left everything and ran downstairs while her heart was racing. She nervously opened the letter and read it. The letter at the bottom said, "We are pleased to say that you have been accepted to Kalerin Dance Academy." Olivia jumped, "Woohoo! I got it. Mum! I'm going to chase Jenny's and my dream!" Her mother stood there with tears of joy in her eyes. She was proud of her daughter.
She was supposed to stay at the hostel since going home and coming back every single time was not affordable. She went upstairs and packed her bags, "Hmm what should I take? I can't possibly fit my whole room in this bag. I'll pack all of my clothes because that is a necessity and then...oh Mr. Furry!" Mr. Furry was her bear stuffed animal. It was a gift Jenny gave her when she was seven and ever since that, she can't sleep without it. One time, her family went to a hotel. Mr. Furry must have gotten lost, she could not sleep at all and made a whole fuss about it until they found it underneath a table. "What else? Oh, my toiletries! and my dance shoes, can't forget them." She heard a knock on the door, "Come in!" Her mother came, "Oh sweetie, you've already started packing. Let me help you." They were folding her clothes. Olivia said, "I'm bored doing this. Wait- let's blast some music!" She turned on some pop music and folded her clothes.
Finally, everything was packed and she was leaving tomorrow. Her mother even got emotional at one point but Olivia assured her that nothing was going to happen. She lay on her bed and thought that it was so exciting that she couldn't sleep! She thought, "Kalerin! Here I come!
Her mother woke up early and made her some delicious pancakes. Olivia ate every single bite with taste. She said, "Yum! Oh, I'm gonna miss these and your food, Ugh I wish I could perfect your recipes." She checked her watch, "Oops, I'm gonna be late if I don't go now." Her father was going to work and said, "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call m. You know I'm always here when you need me." She hugged her parents, "Gotta go, Love you both!" They replied, "We love you more!" Her mom added, "Don't forget to call us every weekend." Olivia sighed, "Yeah yeah, I won't." She muttered, "That's the fifth time she said it." And off she went in her uber.
