CHAPTER TWELVE: THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

When they reached back to their rooms, Lucas got a call after a while. It was his father, he answered;
"Hello dad!"
"Hello son, I have called you to ask you for a favor. Would you do it for me?"
"Yes, I'll do whatever you say."
"Who was the girl with you today?"
He blurted, "Liv."
"Liv..?"
He smacked his head, "Oh-uh I mean Olivia."
"Yes, Olivia. I would like you to give her a personal invite to your birthday tonight. I know she might have already received one but please tell her that I insist and I would like her to sincerely come."
"Okay, I will. Anything else?"
"No, just dress properly tonight?"
"Sure dad, talk to you soon."
Lucas immediately went outside his room and knocked on her door. Nessa opened, "Oh, Lucas, you need anything?" Lucas hesitated, "Uh-just wanted to ask, you guys are coming for my party right?"
Olivia looked up from her phone and said, "I'm not coming..." They both looked at each other. Nessa interrupted-"I'm going to come, okay?" Lucas stuttered, "Uh-My dad said that he would like for you to come and he insists you do." Nessa gasped, "The famous celebrity insists for you to come. Now you can't say no, come on, I chose the dress. Let's go!" Olivia groaned...Lucas smiled. Nessa said, "I'll make sure she comes!"
He asked, "Do you guys need a ride?"
"Well I have one, and I'll ask them if Olivia can come or not so I think we'll be alright."
"Okay, meet you there." He glanced at Olivia once again and left.
Olivia wore one of Nessa's fancy dresses and she did her own hair and this time, she got to do Nessa's as well. They both looked gorgeous!
Nessa's friend's car came to pick her up but unfortunately there was not enough space for Olivia to come...She said worriedly, "Olivia, how will you come now...?"
Olivia replied, "Don't worry, I'll order an Uber. Now go!"
Nessa told her to call once she gets in a car.
Suddenly, a cold breeze blew...Olivia slightly shivered...the Uber was going to take 5-10 minutes. She stood there still and quietly. Suddenly, a car approached her...she couldn't see as the windows were black tinted. A person rolled down the window, it was Lucas.
"Need a ride...?"
Olivia was shivering, her hands were wrapped around her to keep her warm, she regretted why she didn't wear a jacket. Her teeth chattered..."I-I'm o-o...k-k-ay." Lucas' smile dropped and he quickly realized she was freezing. He hastily came out of the car and took out his jacket, and wrapped it around her. His warm hands held her arms and he took her to the car. She stopped by the door, Lucas said, "I don't want your tantrums, get in." She went in and Lucas started the car, he turned on the heater, "Feel better?" She nodded.
They both stayed silent on the road. Olivia got the courage to talk and whispered, "Thank you." Lucas smiled, "You should take care of yourself more. What if I wouldn't have come there? Yo-u" she put her finger on his lips, "Don't say it, you came and helped me. It's more than enough." Lucas tried as much to keep his eyes on the road but he couldn't help but glance at Olivia a few times, she looked beautiful. They finally reached the party, Olivia stopped him from coming out, "Uh-I want to give you something..." She took out a box from her purse, "Here." It was a bracket that had an infinity sign, it had a blue gem in the middle with silver linings. She said, "I know, it's not like your designer brands or expensive taste but I think it's a symbol that we will stay together no matter what, we will always help each other and come to think about it, being your assistant was not so bad except for the work that you gave me." They both laughed. She took his hand and put it on his wrist. "Oh- and I have one too!" She showed her hand with the same bracelet, she had a red gem instead. "Well-it's not a friendship bracelet because I really don't know what we are..." Lucas said, "Let it be as it is, whatever we are will be defined in the future but for now, we are anonymous. Thank you." Olivia smiled, "Happy Birthday!" She was about to come out...Lucas said, "Wait." He opened the door for her and gave his hand, "Come on." The time, she held his hand and they both entered in his house. His house was decorated with all sorts of balloons, the party looked grand, it was filled with people who wore amazing designer clothes, it looked like an exquisite party because it had golden vases with white flowers almost everywhere. There was a red carpet at the entrance, there were waiters on every corner serving drinks. Nessa came and hugged her, "Thank god, you reached here safely. I was worried to death." They talked all along while Lucas was taken to meet famous people by his father so that he could get familiar with the celebrities for the future. Unfortunately, a waiter dropped a glass of Juice on Lucas, he was about to shout at him but luckily, his father took him to the bathroom. He said, "Don't do anything bad okay, it's your birthday so let everything go smooth tonight." As Lucas entered the bathroom, he saw Alyssa...he was shocked, "What are you doing here? It's a men's bathroom!"
Alyssa shushed him, "I need to tell you something important, it's about Olivia..."
Lucas arched his eyebrows, "I don't want to listen to you..."
Alyssa hesitated, "It's very important!"
"Fine, hurry, I don't have time."
"Uhm....how do I start? So basically Olivia has always had a crush on you since childhood, she stalked you all these years and has gotten to know your likes and dislikes. She is a fraud and cheats rich guys like you, then breaks-up with them."
Lucas said, "You don't have any shame talking like this about your friend? See my head, Is there anything written here?"
Alyssa replied, "No."
"For you, it's written dumb right? You think I would believe you?"
Alyssa crossed her arms, "Go and see for yourself."
He went outside the bathroom annoyed. Suddenly, he saw Noah talking with Olivia, it didn't mind him that he was with her until Alyssa dragged her to the women's bathroom. Lucas quietly went and tried to listen to what she was saying but no luck.
Alyssa said, "I have bad news for you...Lucas isn't who he seems like...He was the one who set up the kidnappers that day, remember he was in a call before, he called them but then he pitied on you and therefore decided to act like a hero." Olivia was nervous, she didn't know if she was telling the truth or not, she had to find out. As she went outside, Lucas was standing beside the door, she stared and went away.
Suddenly, Noah approached her and started talking with her. Lucas started to dislike the fact that he was talking with her again...Noah said, "Olivia, I need someone to talk to. I feel like I can trust you..." His eyes became tearful, "My mother is in the hospital and I have no one besides her and I'm very scared that something might happen to her." All of a sudden, he hugged her. Although Olivia didn't like it but she felt that he was sad and needed a hug. Lucas was beginning to believe Alyssa, he clenched his fist and came to Olivia, "I need to talk to you." He held her arm and dragged her forcefully while Noah was hugging her...Olivia looked at him, his eyes looked like he was in pain and anger.
He took her outside the pool and said, "How could you do this to me?"
Olivia looked at him in confusion, "What did I do?"
"You know very well yourself...You are nothing but a cheat and liar." Olivia got angry and pointed her finger at him, "Never question my respect, I haven't done anything of that sort your talking about."
Lucas got so angry and said, "Just go, I don't want to see your face ever again." Olivia was hurt...she said, "What about what you did that other day?" Her eyes became tearful but she controlled them and stayed strong. She held his hand, "Let's sort this out please." He said, "JUST LEAVE!" And abruptly pushed her hand not realizing that he pushed her into the pool. Suddenly, everyone started coming and seeing what happened. It was a mess...Lucas left and Nessa helped Olivia to come out of the pool and she took Olivia home, she was wet from head to toe...they both were hurt.
