Love is unexpected

CHAPTER TEN: CONFESSIONS AND MISUNDERSTANDINGS

The next day they all returned back before night time.
Olivia was dropped off by Uber and she immediately went to her room to meet Nessa.
They hugged each other at once. Nessa said, "Hii, how was yesterday? Tell me about it!" Suddenly a knock on the door came and it was Alyssa.

She was excited, "Guys, do you know this weekend is going to be the best?" Both of them looked at each other and said, "Why?" Alyssa raised her brow, "Well don't you know? It's Lucas' birthday in 3 days. I'm so excited about his party because I know for a fact that this year it's gonna be even more awesome. After all, it's his 18th birthday!"
Olivia said, "How did you know?" Alyssa hesitated, "Uhh...uh well you know I look forward to his parties every single year cause uhh...I have the most fun there so that's why umm...I keep track."

Nessa stared at her while Olivia was coming near her. Alyssa started to get nervous, "Erm...I think my roommate is waiting for me so I should get going." She quickly ran past the corridor and went away. Nessa said, "Believe me or not but she is acting weird. Anyway, so what are you planning to do for his birthday? You will have to buy a gift." Olivia got nervous, "I don't know if he will like my gift as he probably likes branded stuff and I don't have the money to buy anything from that type of store."

Nessa patted her, "Don't worry, you'll figure it out! Listen let's go out for a walk to get some fresh air." Olivia agreed and they went for an evening walk Olivia told Nessa about what had happened the other day about Lucas saving her and all although she skipped the bathroom part because it was embarrassing for her.

Soon, the sun went down and they went back to their room. As they were waiting for the elevator, Lucas came and waited with them as well, Olivia didn't notice it until she looked behind, "Oh hey Lucas, when did you come, and why are you so quiet?" She saw that Lucas looked anxious and he was sweating even though the night was cool. The elevator came and the three went inside. Lucas still did not say a word...it was like he didn't realize someone was with them. They reached their floor and went back to their rooms.

Nessa said, "Is It just me or Lucas is very quiet today? It felt like he was in another very sad world. I hope he's okay." They sat in their beds and talked until Nessa went to freshen up. Olivia thought, "What could have happened? Even that day, he had tears in his eyes when he saw me with my parents. If I'll ask him about this, he will deny so I'll have to do something else..." After a while, she dressed up and left a note in her room for Nessa, "I had some urgent work. Be back soon so don't stay up late and sleep."

She then went and knocked on Lucas' room. At first, she got no response but after knocking for a while, Lucas opened the door.
Olivia saw the state of his room, it was a mess. It was like he threw all of these things in anger. He said in a low voice, "What is it Liv?" Olivia gulped, "Umm...I was wondering if you could go on a walk with me, I wanted to talk to someone and Nessa had already gone to sleep. If you don't mind...then can we go?"

Olivia saw that his eyes narrowed and she almost panicked that Lucas would have caught her in her wide lie.
He said, "Okay, let me get ready and I'll meet you outside." He came out after a while and they both went to the front yard. Lucas said, "So what did you want to talk about...?"

Olivia sighed and said, "I don't know If you've ever heard but I came to this academy for a reason...you see, dance has always been a passion for me but that started when my sister Jenny went to dancing classes. I used to watch her in every class she went to and try to do the moves as well because money was not enough for both of us to go...So Jenny would come home and teach me, although I didn't like it at first I gradually began loving it till I didn't even realize that it had become my passion. I loved Jenny, she supported me in everything and loved me even more than my parents did and I did the same. She was my dream, my everything..."

The silence became louder as Olivia wanted to control her tears. Lucas held her hand and rubbed it gently, "It's okay if you don't want to go on..."
Olivia looked at him and said, "It is...everything was perfect until a few weeks ago, a tragedy occurred and she met with an accident."

Olivia struggled to breathe as she remembered the moment when she saw her sister on her deathbed. She felt like a lump was in her throat and suddenly, her tears overflowed. Lucas reassured her and put his hand on her cheeks, their eyes met.
He said to comfort her, "It's okay to cry, don't hold on to them. Sometimes, it's best to let it out..." Olivia couldn't stop crying and said while hiccuping, "I just miss her so much-I, I can't help but think that I wish...I had spent more time with her. I...can't stop forgetting her face on her deathbed in the hospital. I kept on shouting for her to open her eyes but I got no response.
Now the only time I'm gonna see her is when I die and I just don't wanna live longer anymore because life isn't fun without her..." Lucas said, "Don't say that, this is life. Nothing is permanent and I know you're sad but think about how proud she must be that you got into the school of her dreams right? Never forget that she's always sending you good luck." Lucas hugged her, "You're not alone..." he held her tight but he continued, "Don't think of it that way, I'll always be there to annoy and trouble you so don't think that you can get rid of me easily." They both laughed. He checked the time, "Oh it has become so late. Let's go back now shall we?" While they walked back, Lucas said, "I'm glad that you trusted me to tell all of this, I promise I won't tell anyone so don't worry." Olivia smiled, "He's not as bad as I thought..." Olivia saw rings and bracelets in his hands and asked, "Are you fond of jewelry? You wear so many rings and bracelets." Lucas chuckled, "These are bands, and yeah nowadays this is the fashion. You know, fun fact, wearing these vintage rings makes me twice as attractive to girls and I don't even know the reason why. They reached their rooms. Finally, they said their goodbyes and went off.
