Hey y'all so I'm trying to start my chapter names with quotes but I might not always do that sooooooo... yeah. Enjoy the story!
"Marcy. Marcy. Marcy!" Anne paused, narrowing her eyes at the raven-haired girl next to her, "...MARCY!"
Marcy flinched, only stopping to look up at Anne confusedly before returning her gaze to her book. "Anne I said I would go with you to the fields to look at the butterflies later. I know you're excited to show me this for the first time but lemme finish this chapter first."
"Marcy, you said that last chapter!" The brunette scowled, though with no malice behind it as she crossed her arms and flopped back onto the couch cushions.
The two were relaxing at the Plantars' house while they waited for the frogs to come back from errands, though they were supposed to hang out at the butterfly fields- which the butterflies surprisingly weren't massive unlike the mantises and the caterpillars. Both were in casual tees and shorts, since it was hot and nothing seemed to be urgent that day.
Instead of responding Anne sat up to find the noirette with her nose buried in her novel again, focused intently on the pages.
Anne groaned, though usually finding Marcy's hyperfixtations cute, she was annoyed at the girl ignoring her. "C'mon Mar-Mar. It's been an HOUR! I'm bored and I wanna do something with you if we won't go to the fields. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease?" She leaned against Marcy, sighing.
"Y-yeah in a bit, Anne. Gotta finish chapter," Marcy patted the American-Thai girl's floofy hair with a tinge of pink on her cheeks, though she still didn't look up.
Anne frowned, sitting there for only a minute before huffing, "Yeah, nope," and snatching Marcy's book.
"H-Hey! Anne!" The bookworm stood up quickly, reaching for the book Anne was holding just out of her reach.
The brunette stuck her tongue out before taking off, sprinting around the house with Marcy in tow. She leapt onto the couch after doubling back again, waiting a bit since Marcy had somehow tripped over air and stumbled into a table. Anne tsked at her friend, watching her with a small smile as she appreciated the fact that the girl jump back up almost immediately with determination.
"Anna-bananaaaaaa gimme that back! It's a really fascinating book about the different climates around Amphibia and the different creatures that live there! Did you know axolotls actually live in colder climates? It's another thing they have in common with another species that..." Marcy continued into a tangent as she chased the brown-haired girl outside, through Wartwood, and outside the town, somehow recalling all the information as she ran.
"It's sweet when she rambles..." Anne mumbled, slowing down just a bit to listen.
Unfortunately after a while of running, the noirette slipped, causing her to crash into Anne and knock them both to the ground.
They both fell with a loud thump, tumbling through leafy foliage and rolling into a grassy clearing surrounded by trees. They glanced at each other before looking around to see where they ended up.
Anne had led them to the fields she wanted to head to earlier, with the butterflies swirling around them gently. The sky was perfectly blue with drifting fluffy clouds, the grass was soft and blowing idly with the breeze, and the butterflies glowed with all the colors imaginable with the green-leafed trees whispering circling them.
"Wow..." Marcy marveled at the sight, understanding why Anne wanted to bring them here. The latter was also gasping, though admiring the raven-haired girl above her after the fall as she practically glowed with the sun and butterflies' light. "Yeah... Wow." Anne agreed with a slight rose coloring.
