...Hey everyone.
It's been a while since I've updated. Or even been active. I'm really sorry for leaving and not writing anything new or any requests. Most of my drafts have disappeared for some reason, so if any of y'all want to re-request or request something new, comment on the request page. I can't check every single notification that happened while I was inactive, but I'll check the new ones if I stay active. Sorry again, I've just been dealing with some shit and a lot has changed in my life.
Sooooo, anyways! Here's a oneshot I came up with (Not platonic, it's romantic this time). It's in the ten years older time period, and at Anne's herpetologist job in the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California (I learned this on the Wiki). Sorry if this chapter seems a little off or kinda angsty or something, it's more a personal rant. But hopefully still fun to read!
Also, thank you guys so much for 40,000+ reads!!! It means the world to me, how far this book has come- and I value all of y'all's support!!!
ENJOY THE CHAPTER!
"Phew, that was a long day." Anne sighed, walking into the break room. She paused after a few seconds, looking around. "Hey, where is everyone?"
Sasha, Marcy, and Y/n were supposed to be waiting in the break room, with their coffee and chocolate chip cookies, like they usually did on Fridays after Anne's work. But the coffee wasn't brewed, the cups still stacked, and there were cookies still in the tin on the table.
"Okay... if they're not here, maybe in the exhibits." Anne left the room, circling back towards the herpetology exhibit.
Her guess was right, and she found the trio in the exhibit... searching for something?
They were poking around the cracks and corners of every tank and wall. Sasha was looking in the toads section, Marcy was in the newts section, and Y/n was by the frogs section.
"...What are you guys doing?" Anne asked, a brow raised as she watched the three of them. They all glanced over at the sound of her voice.
"Hi, Anna-banana!" Marcy gave a little wave.
"We're searching for one of your frogs, Boonchuy." Sasha answered, before going back to looking around the toads exhibit.
"My frogs? What happened? You know if you can't see one, they could just be hiding in the tank, right?" The brunette tipped her head to the side.
"No, we know one escaped-"
"Ask Y/n." Sasha cut off Marcy, side-eyeing Y/n.
"Uh..." Y/n glared at Sasha for putting them in the spotlight, then rolled their eyes and turned to Anne with a guilty expression.
Anne crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes slightly at Y/n. "N/n. What did you do?"
"There's a chance I possibly might've maybe... accidentally let your pink South American tree frog escape. I'm sorry, Anne..." Y/n hung their head, glancing away.
"Wha? You... you let Sprig escape??" Anne's eyes widened, looking around for any sign of the pink frog.
"I didn't mean to!" Y/n bit their lip nervously. "I'm super sorry, Anne! I just wanted to take a closer look at Sprig like you do when you pull him outta' the tank to show the visitors! But when I took him out, he leapt off my finger and hopped off! I tried to catch him he he was so fast! We lost track of him! S-so we're trying to find him... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's all my fault..."
