Hey y'all! Here's my 4K/5K Reads Special! That is... really, really, REALLY late.

Heh, oops.

Basically this takes place after Amphibia, when Marcy moves away and Anne & Sasha are starting a new school year.

Anne finds a new clumsy and somewhat-nerdy girl (Not as nerdy as my girl Marcy) to befriend. Although Marbles can NEVER be replaced, at least Anne has someone similar, but different.   ;)

ENJOY THE CHAPTER!

Anne and Sasha were standing in front of Saint James Middle School, side by side as they observed the school and students. It was a first day like any other, yet drastically different from any other first days the pair had; there was someone very important missing from their group.

"So, first day of 8th grade... without Marcy. Still... feels weird." Anne mumbled, glancing at the blond next to her.

"Yeah. It's definitely weird. At least we get to FaceTime her after school, right? That's a good thing." Sasha tried with a small smile, nudging Anne with her elbow.

The brunette shook her head to clear it, a mostly fake grin spreading across her face. "Mhm, we get to call Marcy later. It's not so bad I guess. Normal life still feels more bland after Amphibia though, huh?"

"Yep, it's nothing like spending time with talking frogs, toads and newts while eating a few bugs. Crazily normal after all that time."

"Yeah..."

The two were silent for a few minutes after that, not daring to go inside for a little. It would just make everything seem even more real.

Sasha sighed, wrapping an arm around her friend's shoulders to guide her towards the school's entrance. "C'mon. It doesn't do any good to stay out here. Let's just go inside already."

They walked inside, looking around at their relatively normal school. Nothing appeared to change from last year, but everything still seemed wrong. There was no one to ramble off interesting facts she had learned, no one to bounce around in excitement as they wandered into the school, no one to trip over air and be able stop her fall-

And yet, somehow Anne had managed to catch someone slipping on her right. She had done it on instinct, but was bewildered when she stared at who she caught. '...What?'

It wasn't Marcy, but a random girl who was mid-trip before being stopped by Anne grabbing her shoulders last-minute.

"W-wow, thanks. Um, I didn't think anyone would actually help me." The girl smiled nervously, shifting to stand upright. She had h/l h/c hair, s/c skin, e/c eyes, and wore a SJMS hoodie, jeans, and sneakers.

"No, uh, no problem. I have a very clumsy friend so I always gotta be prepared." Anne shrugged, her smile -an actual genuine smile- matching the other girl's as she let go of the student.

"Well, I'm glad that you're ready to catch accident-prone people!" The student remarked, laughing softly. "Anyways, my name is Y/n. And what is my savior's name?"

Anne grinned a little more at the joke, replying, "I'm Anne."

"Awesome to meet you, Anne! I'm new to the school, so I'm just wandering around and trying to figure out what's where."

"Oh! I can help you with that! I know this school like the back of my hand!" The brunette volunteered quickly.

Y/n beamed, eyes shining. "Really?! Wow, thanks so much! It'll be nice having a guide!"
