Part 11: Calm Before the Storm

That night, Allura decided to host a party for the Arusians to celebrate the victorious battle.

"The monster fell from the sky! It was an epic battle but Voltron and the Orange Lion were victorious!" The Arusian king said. The Arusian playing the beast "shot" down "Voltron," the Arusian playing the Orange Lion crying over "Voltron's" body.

"No, I said Voltron was victorious!" The king said. The Arusians playing Voltron got back up, while the one playing the beast played dead. The Arusians cheered for the stellar performance.

"Thank you, your majesty for that..wonderful production. It saddens me that we must leave tomorrow but we must continue our battle with Zarkon and spread peace throughout the universe," Allura said before turning to the king and handing him a communication device, "your highness, please accept this gift. This will allow you to contact us anytime you need help. Arus will be the first planet in the Voltron alliance."

"Hoorah!" The king cheered, showing the device proudly to the rest of the Arusians.

"We gotta get something like that." Hunk said as he and Lily walked up to Lance and Keith.

"Like what?"

"A team cheer!" He replied.

"Ooh! I got it! When I say Vol, you say Tron! Vol!" Lance said.

"Tron!" Lily finished the cheer.

"Yeah!" Lance cheered.

"Uhh..Voltron..?" Keith replied, confused.

"No nonono, the cheer includes the instructions. I say Vol and you say.."

"V-Voltron?" Keith said again.

"We'll work on it." Lance said plainly, taking a sip of his drink before spitting it out.

"Coran, what is this?" He asked.

"Oh this is Nunvil! Nectar of the gods!" Coran replied.

"It tastes like hotdog water and feet!"

"Say what you want but I like this stuff." Lily replied, taking a swig of her drink.

"... I just hope it's not alcoholic because this is my third glass." She whispered to Keith.

"Yeahhh.. about that.." Keith replied.

*meanwhile*

Allura was chatting with the mice, who were able to discover some of the paladins secrets. The mice had a few good secrets from Lily. Such as the time she fought her gross, pig minded attending in the hospital's cafeteria.

"She did what during her residency?!" Allura laughed as the mice fake fought with each other. The mice also re-enacted how she and Keith met: him throwing that Duplo Lego at her when they were 3.

"Oh, boys are always going to be stupid at that age. I think that's pretty universal across all planets." She said as one of the mice pretended to throw something at the other. Then the two mice re-enacted something a bit different from the usual lighthearted stuff. One of them fake cried, while the big yellow mouse pretended to leave.

"Ohh... I feel so sorry for her.. that must've been hard not knowing her father very well.." Allura said, hurt written on her face by the reenactment.

*back to the party*

Allura walked down the steps of the banquet room and found Lily chatting with a couple Arusians.

"Hey" she greeted.

"Hellooo pppprincess!" Lily said, words slurring a bit.

"So.. um.. tell me about your.. 'residency.' What is a resident?" Allura asked, curious about her friend's life back on earth.

"Resident..? Ohhh that's a doctor in training. Once we finish med school, we go into a couple years of residency to specialize in a certain practice. I chose general surgery. For me, it was my middle school years since my mom is a tiger mom and liked to push me past my limits. She's the reason I only had one friend growing up!" She said, giggling at nothing.

"Interesting.. What's an attending?" Allura asked, hoping to know more about her friend's life on earth.

"It's the doctor fully responsible for a patient's well being. Basically a resident's boss." Lily said before gasping dramatically.

"The. Mice. Told you. Bout my fight with the trauma attending." She gasped, fake offended.

"Dr. Scott was a pig of a man whoooo was racist and liked to prey on the young residents. I finally had the balls to stand up to him once he made a comment about me being Chinese! And my eye color! And my hair.. my luscious locks! He deserved that broken nose! Even plastics couldn't fix him!" Lily slurred.

"Wow, how did he even become a doctor?" She asked.

"No one knows! He came from a rich family so I bet he bribed his way through the system. No one liked him, not even our cardiothoracic doctor! And she liked everyone! (Rip Dr. Jones, I miss you and love you.) Dr. Scott! Where are you?! It's been 4 years and I want a rematch! I'm the Chief of General Surgery now! I fight better, I have a cool sword, and I have a robotic kitty cat on my side!" Lily yelled at nothing, drunk off her mind on Nunvil. Allura kept her from falling when she almost tripped on a pebble.

"You are drunk. How much Nunvil did you drink?" She asked.

"Keith stopped me at 3 glasses." Lily giggled.

"Good on him, but you're funny when drunk." Allura said.

"Take me to Dr. Scott, I need to pound his ass into the concrete" Lily slurred.

"Dr. Scott isn't here."

"Oh? He got fired? Damn. I was really hopinggg for that rematch" Lily said. Keith walked by and stopped to talk to her.

"Keef Cocaine! My favorite person!" Lily greeted enthusiastically.

"Good god she's worse off than when I left her." He muttered.

"Did you really throw a toy at her when she was 3?" Allura asked, handing Lily to Keith, who slung her arm around him to keep her from falling.

"Yes," Keith sighed, "I was a jerk. My dad grounded me for a month." He dragged her to where Hunk and Pidge were.

"Heyyyyy" she greeted. Hunk gasped happily.

"Dr. Thaldycon finally showing emotions other that disgust or anger or bloodlust?!?!" He exclaimed.

"No. She's drunk." Keith said plainly.

"So, what we're your early years like? Father?" Hunk questioned.

"Well! Let me just start by saying Dr. Scott is a little piss boy who lost a fight to a 14 year old girl, aka me- and my dad, Thaldycon Sr.-" Keith covered her mouth.

"Hunk! We are not questioning my drunk sister about her past. Or her dad." Keith said firmly. The mood changed when Pidge announced that he was leaving team Voltron. Lily, being drunk, and her attitude very susceptible to mood swings, started crying.

"Whyyyy? Pidge whyyyy." She sobbed, clinging to him.

"Doc, you're drunk." Pidge said plainly, handing Lily back to Keith. As the rest of the paladins argued, Lily's eyes wandered aimlessly around the castle. All the sudden an explosion rocked the castle and all the Arusians started panicking and running out. Soon the castle completely powered down.

"Ooohh this can't be good..." Lily said as everyone ran to the main control room. There, they found an injured Lance and a disoriented Coran. Lily didn't hear anything anyone was saying and if she did, she forgot it two seconds later. However, she picked up the fact that she and Shiro had to get Lance to the infirmary ASAP.
