Part 13: Aftermath

The fight was mentally and physically scarring. Lily got most of the mental scarring, but she did have some physical injuries. Her face needed stitches and she had a mark on her neck that needed to be disinfected. She was in the castle's operating room/infirmary, looking through one of the drawers for a suture kit and disinfectant. She found what she needed and she also found a mirror she could use.

"Ok," she said, taking a deep breath, "this is gonna hurt." She pushed the suture needle into the skin on her cheek and began suturing the cuts.

"Lily, do you-" Keith said, walking in to see the disturbing sight of his sister suturing her own wounds.

"Yeah?" She replied, tying off another stitch.

"..you know I could've helped you suture your cuts." He said.

"Boy, the last time I taught you stitches, you got your hand tangled up. That was the last time I'd let you near a suturing kit. This is already gonna scar over, but I'd look mangled if you did it." Lily replied, tying off the last stitch.

"True. Also, are you ok? Shiro mentioned your encounters with Sendak. So I just wanted to make sure.." he said.

"Oh Pfft. I mean... aside from getting injured, I'm alright." She replied, applying a bandage to her freshly stitched wound.

"And that was your first kiss?!" Keith exclaimed.

"Yep." Lily said before her face fell. The post Nunvil clarity had finally hit her. She immediately got up, got a toothbrush and toothpaste.

"So... I take it that you didn't like it.." he said, trying not to laugh.

"No. It was vile. You owe me big!" She said, squirting the tube of toothpaste into her mouth and aggressively brushing her teeth.

*five minutes later*

"Keith and Dr. Thaldycon, please make your way over to the bridge." Coran said over the comms. The two made their way over to the bridge, where everyone was standing around the force field that trapped Sendak. He was unconscious, thanks to a gas that Allura pumped into the tiny space.

"We need to get him to the containment pod. He's too dangerous to be let loose" Allura said, deactivating the force field.

"Who wants to drag Sendak down into the castle's basement?" Coran asked enthusiastically.

"Lily should since it's her crazy boyfriend." Pidge said.

"He's not my boyfriend!"

"That's not what the security footage says. Oooh I'm keeping that footage forever." Pidge laughed.

"Enough, Pidge, she provided the distraction we needed to ambush him. I'll help her" Shiro said.

"Alright, Lily, grab a leg." He said. They both grabbed his legs and lugged him out of the control room. Sendak was 8ft tall, very buff, and dead weight, so the two were getting a real workout.

"Man," Lily said as they continued to lug him down the hall, "someone's been eating their space wheaties. Good god, what does Zarkon feed him??"

"The souls of the free. And short Asian doctors for dessert." Shiro replied.

"Nice.... Hey-" She replied, realizing what he just said. They made it all the way down into the castle's basement, where several containment pods were. Coran met them down there as well.

"Did you guys get a workout?" Coran asked, typing stuff into the pod.

"Yeah I feel ready to run a marathon." Lily replied sarcastically, cracking her back. She hooked her arms under Sendak's and attempted to haul him into the open pod. Bad idea. She fell backwards, Sendak landing on top of her, his face pressed against her chest.

"Oww..." she groaned.

"Are you alright?" Shiro asked.

"Yeahh... now get his face off my titties.." she replied. Shiro lifted him up so Lily could stand and they both managed to shove him into the pod.

"Enjoy your stay." Lily teased, booping Sendak's nose before the pod was closed.

"Ewww he drooled on me.." she muttered, looking at her scrub top.

"can I dissect him later?" She asked Coran.

"Lily! That's dark, even for you!" Shiro exclaimed.

"What??"

"I appreciate your enthusiasm for your practice, Thaldycon, but we're gonna try to get some information on Zarkon from him. The OR has a simulator that you can use in the mean time. Here," he said, handing her a small device, "scan his body with this, and it will give you a clean canvas of him to plug into the simulator. Then you can subject him to whatever dark medical rituals you want!"

"Thanks" she replied.

"Do you know when Lance is gonna be out of his cryo-pod?" Shiro asked as he watched Lily scan Sendak through the containment pod.

"Should be about a day." Coran replied.

Time skip

Its been about a day since the attack. Lily has been up all hours of the day, switching between the infirmary and spending time in the containment room, taking notes on Sendak's biorhythms. She even has a little sleeping bag set up next to the containment pod. The device that Coran gave her went into a little porthole under the operating table and it produced a realistic hologram of Sendak for her to operate on.

"Hey, Workaholic!" Keith said, barging into the OR.

"Well that's a new nickname.." Lily replied, keeping her eyes on the hologram in front of her.

"Lance is waking up soon." He told her.

"Oh really?" She asked.

"Yeah, come on!" He said.

"Alright" she said, putting down her surgical instruments and turning off the simulation.
